We called CNE after finding good reviews about them online. We had grass problems (large area of dead grass), landscape issues (we wanted to re-landscape the front of our house), irrigation issues, etc. Basically, they stood to make a lot of money off of us! The fist thing we wanted to tackle was having half of the grass in our front yard replaced. We lost all of it due to brown patch last summer. We needed the grass replaced, and the sprinkler issues resolved (that caused the flooding and subsequent brown patch in the first place). We wanted to have this done in March/April, before it got too hot. CNE quoted us for digging up and tilling the dead grass area and replacing a pallet's worth of grass. We later found out that we really got robbed at a quote of $416. The itemized quote showed 1 pallet of grass at over $200, plus $100 delivery, plus labor. We asked if they could use any sod leftover on the pallet to fix some of our backyard grass issues. Our first problem was with the labor. They workers did NOT dig up any of the old grass or dirt, so the sod they laid down was higher than the rest of our yard. They did decide to dig down on the side of our fence, because they couldn't open our gate once they laid the grass. The problem was that they dug a ditch, and didn't grade or slope it for the water to flow down (our house is on a hill). So, they way they left it, we had a small lake right in front of our fence whenever the sprinklers went off or if it rained. My husband called Cody (the owner) to see if they would come fix it. Second problem - he took several days to return our calls, then never even showed up when they said they would (no call, no show). My husband fixed it himself. Third problem - I had also asked Cody initially for a separate landscaping quote. I emailed him no less than 4 times to ask if he was going to send that quote (after he sent the quote for the sod install). He continued to tell me he'd send it the next day, but I never got anything. Finally, we ended up ordering another pallet of grass ourselves, for our backyard. When we did, we found out that a pallet of grass is $130 (St. Augustine) and delivery is only $90. Fourth problem - that's $100 pure profit CNE made right there, by lying about the price of grass. Then, when we received the pallet of grass, we realized it was twice as much as they laid in our front yard, and they told us they did not have anything leftover from their pallet after our front yard area. LIE. We paid over $400 for not even a full pallet of grass, and installation so poor that we had to redo it. Watch out - these people are scammers and really good about NOT following up or returning calls.
Description of Work: Replaced 2/3 of front yard sod (dead from brown patch). Also requested quote to redo all front landscaping and help with irrigation issues on side of house.
