My garage door with automatic door opener had become unusable due to the fact that it was raising crooked and getting jammed. I thought that it was because settling of my foundation may have caused the rails to be uneven. I was wrong. Matt from Cedar Park Overhead Doors showed up on time and surveyed the situation after listening to my complaint. He then showed me how the springs for my door were installed incorrectly. I have the type of springs that run along each side of the overhead rail. One spring was dead-ended off center which Matt said was causing the door to pull to that side and jam. Matt told me about a different type of spring that would be centered over the door opening. He offered to do the garage door tune-up and install the new spring for $266.00. Although I had not intended to spend that much on repairing the door, I'm very glad that I did. Matt took his time and adjusted everything just right. I now just want to stand in my garage and open and close the door over and over. It's so smooth and quiet. Also the new spring makes it super easy to open/close manually when needed.
Description of Work: Replaced badly installed old spings with the type that runs at right angle to the travel of the door and tuned-up the entire opening process.

They did a fine job. We had a little issue with them missing the first appointment, but they called and let us know. They came back the next day and we decided to replace the door. They came back that afternoon and replaced it and did a great job. They were very accomodating after having to miss the original appointment. I would highly recommend them and would use them again.
Description of Work: They installed a new garage door for me.

I called on a Wednesday to make an appointment for the following Friday 6.00 PM. I explained to the dispatcher that it needed either an adjustment or replacement of the springs. Friday afternoon the technician - Dwayne - called to confirm the time and I repeated the problems with the springs. When he did not come by 7PM I left messages on his cell phone with no response. Got a call at 8 PM that he was ready to come, which I declined as being too late. He said he is off on Saturday but will come after 12 PM on Sunday. When he arrived on Sunday he promptly announced that Cedar Park does not sell springs but recommended that I change the system to one with torsion bars at $300 each, He also suggested that I should get new doors as these were too old - at additional $300 each. When I reminded him that I was not told that Cedar Park does not deal in springs when I made the appointment and also when I discussed the problems directly with him on Friday he suggested that I go to Home Depot and buy a set of springs and call him and he would install it for app. $100+. It would be cheaper that way. He said he had no idea of how much it would cost if a company like Cedar Park was to sell and install the springs. I told him that I was going to call other companies from Angie's List. I called Hutchins Garage Doors and explained to the dispatcher that I wanted the springs adjusted or changed if necessary. He assured me that they deal in springs. He called back after 30 minutes and explained that the technician was Dwayne - the same Dwayne - who will definitely sell and service the springs. It turns out that both companies I picked were operated by the same owner who used the same contractor as a technician, but were willing to give me a quotation for replacing the springs under Hutchins but not under Cedar Parks. I was disgusted with this double talk and the run around and I wanted to talk to a Manager. The dispatcher first argued incessantly and finally relented and promised to send a supervisor Monday morning. A Supervisor - Matt - from Cedar Parks arrived on Monday and promptly assured me that they do not have any such policy of not dealing with door springs. He inspected the doors and declared them to be in good conditions not requiring replacement. It had only one bad spring which needed to be changed. He quoted a price of $40 to change that one spring with a 3 year warranty, or a $25 for a 3 month warranty. I chose the former option. Later he expanded the service to include both springs for the same price and a $20 discount for the service call - in compensation for the run around that I was given by the technician and the dispatcher for the last three days. He was friendly helpful and very efficient in his work. Cedar Parks Overhead Doors is a big company and has a virtual monopoly of this business in Austin. They own not two but five other companies in this area. However, successful they might be in this business they need to do a lot of work in managing their personnel and hire people who are straight forward, honest and don't try to do business on the side.
Description of Work: Garage Door Springs were changed. The doors and the openers were adjusted tuned and lubricated. This was after a big run around and conflicting recommendations by the first technician, who seemed to be trying to do private business on the side in conflict with Cedar Park. The problem was eventually solved by calling the supervisor who finally did the job right and fixed things up satisfactorily. See the description below for a full narrative.

Response from Cedar Park Overhead Doors
First I want to apologize for the time and trouble you experienced during your work with us. We are happy that you are satisfied in the end. A few issues I would like to address. While I was not there to hear what Dwayne said, I can only hope that what he really meant was that we do not sell extension spring systems for the doors we sell install. As for the purchasing the parts at Home Depot and paying him to install them, typically we cannot find the right springs for the standard doors at Home Depot, so that usually does not work out. And as for paying Dwayne directly to install them, that would be a very unhealthy development in our employer/employee relationship and I am very sorry it has been an inconvenience to you. Regarding the multiple company issue, it is true that we do use multiple names in our organization. They are all BBB approved companies and they all have Separate Angie's List accounts. The reason for multiple companies is this. With a name like "Cedar Park Overhead Doors" some customers in other parts of town might not consider us. We started "Austex" to remove this geographically restrictive name for these customers. Same quality service and work as Cedar Park Overhead Doors. Finally, we bought another garage door company last year named "Hutchin's". We are continuing to use this name to retain the customer base this company built up over it's 14 years in business. Unfortunately, we do not have a monopoly on the garage door business in Austin. But I would like to think that we are a large percent on the Quality garage door companies in Austin. Finally I would like to Thank You again for sticking with us through the entire process and allowing us to make it right for you. I can assure you that Dwayne and I will be discussing ways to make his interactions with customers clearer and more pleasurable. Please consider us again if you have any other problems with your doors. Don Grenier, Owner

Chris got all the problems resolved and he did it quickly and professionally. My opener now works flawlessly. I do not hesitate to recommend this company and Chris C. to all my neighbors.
Description of Work: Chris C. did a super job. My garage door opener would work sometimes and not others; very unreliable but I kept putting off getting to fixed. Then the power company shut off the power in my neighborhood and I had to pull the manual lever to get the door open. After doing that I couldn't get the opener to re-engage. So I checked Angie's List and contacted Cedar Park Overhead Door based on the reviews and I'm so glad I did.

Chris C. did excellent work. He finished/redid the original (partial) installation of my new garage door opener that a friend had not finished and did a much neater job. He also replaced one section of track that was bent. Chris was friendly, courteous and professional and ensured I knew potential problems that may arise in the future (such as sensors getting out of alignment) and what to do about them. He also ensured all remotes worked and showed me features that I was unaware of. The only issue (unrelated to Chris) is that I had to call a couple of time to ask when the technician would be out. When the original technician was evidently unable to make it, they sent out Chris. I was only charged for the single track that was replaced and the labor that was done. There were no attempts to get me to replace the entire track. Pricing was very reasonable for the work done. In fact, it was less than the estimate given to me by the original technician the day before. Certainly, no complaints there! :-)
Description of Work: My new garage door opener had been incorrectly and only partially installed and one of the tracks was bent. I hired the company to finish installing the garage door opener and replace the bent track.

We called on Wednesday and the problem was fixed on Thursday. The service technician, Rusty, had to make two trips because he had to get an extension bracket for the electric eyes. Service was fast, efficient and polite throughout. I thought the price was very reasonable given that the repair required a second trip. Rusty also serviced and tuned the mechanical parts on the door.
Description of Work: The garage door was not closing consistently because the metal braces on the door were being seen by the electric eye system.

I called on a Wednesday afternoon and Rusty came on Thursday afternoon! He was very prompt and called before he came. He inspected the door, I explained the problem and within a half an hour, he was done. The door is now much quieter and all fixed. I will definitely call them again next year when we need a yearly tune-up on our garage door.
Description of Work: My garage door had some sort of short going on, seeming to have a mind of it's own. I couldn't even park my car in the garage any more, for fear of it closing on my car! Rusty came and fixed the wiring and gave the door a complete tune-up, making it work perfectly and much quieter after he left.

Couldn't be happier! Called on a Friday morning at 6:40 am expecting an answering machine. Actually spoke to a person who listened to my garage door opener problem. He said he would send someone at my house in Central/North Austin after 8:00 am. Sure enough, Dwayne showed up (even called before hand to say that traffic was bad) and arrived at 8:35 am. He assessed the problem, helped me get my vehicle out of the garage and said he would return before noon to install a new opener system. At 11:50 am, Dwayne was there with all the parts and materials, and in sweltering heat, installed the new system in one (1) hour and 30 minutes!! He explained all the new functions, buttons and whistles, swept the garage floor, chatted a few minutes about the weather and family - and was gone. Quick, easy and very reasonably priced (with a 5 year warranty included). Why can't other companies be as good as Cedar Park Overhead Garage Doors company??? This was an effortless repair & replacement, when the alternative(s) could have been so much more difficult and costly!! Cedar Park Overhead and (especially Dwayne)...you guys ROCK!!!!

All the remotes for our old opener stopped working, including the keypad and HomeLink systems in our vehicles. I called and Rick gave me a couple of repair and replace options over the phone. We set a time and date for a replacement. The serviceman, Larry, was on time and got right to work getting the job done. Larry was very personable and professional. Latter that afternoon I noticed the opener was making some squeaking sounds. I called the Co. office and had a call back from Larry within an hour. He was out the next morning, Saturday, and quickly made a couple of adjustments and we were back in business. Can't beat that kind of service.

Garage door would not open. Asked for a tune-up and to fix the not-opening problem.Very quick response. Was told it needed a new garage door opener or to fix the stripped gears. I had a Angie's coupon for $38 for a tune up and $10 off service. The garage door opener was installed, the bill prepared and my signature affixed. The door malfunctioned again and it was I who discovered that the steel tensionrope was frayed. The serviceman stayed a bit longer looking around as the doorwould not close consistently; he found a broken bracket and said he would havean hourly person fix it the next day. The next day, his superintendent was sent out to replace the bracket. I told him I realize with the sequence of events that theserviceman charged me for the tune-up and did not do it; and that the $10 off wasoffset when he at the last moment told me he needed a better ceiling bracket thanwas included in the bix-box issued garage door opener. I hope the superintendentdid the tune-up, but at this juncture, I wonder. So the Angie's coupon was being"worked-around" in my opinion. I used this company on another property about 1 month ago and they said theydid a tune-up besides replacing the springs. Now I wonder if they really did it.I was hoping that I had found a reliable, honest garage door company. I have had horrible experiences. Now I don't know what to think. A val-pak had a coupon for this company promoting $50 less for the garage door opener/install than I received and $20 off any service. Unfortunately I pulled up the Angie's coupon firstbefore looking in my file of coupons. The superintendent said he would mail me a copy of his service work, but did not.
Description of Work: Installed a ListMaster 1/2 horsepower chain garage door opener. Did not do the tune-up, but charged for it.

As my son backed out of our garage, we heard and an awful noise. The overhead door had begun to close on the car as we were backing out. My son was able to pull forward enough to disengage the car from the overhead door, which had buckled and pushed out of its track. I couldn't imagine that we would have any choice but to have a new garage door installed. I called Cedar Park Overhead Doors, who have helped us before and who we have been very happy with. They said they would be out that evening, which was very nice, since I would think they wouldn't work at night. A few hours later I got a call from Karl, who said he was on his way to our house, hours earlier than I had anticipated. When Karl got here and took a look, I told him that I assumed we would need a new garage door, to which he answered that he would see what he could do. I went inside the house and within a half hour or so, he knocked on the door to have me come take a look. He had single-handedly straightened the garage door, got it back in its track, and had it working again. I had expected to be setting up an appointment to get a new garage door, but ended up only having to pay $88 to have our garage back in working order.
Description of Work: Karl, a technician for this company, somehow got our buckled garage door back in its tracks and in working order. He also checked the working order of the door.

They were very timely - came same day I called. One door just needed general mainteance so he did that and ordered a new section for the other door. He brought it out the next morning (Saturday) to finish the job. The only thing I'm not happy about is that the new section is a slightly different color. I wasn't told about this in advance and didn't even realize it until I was driving away and noticed the difference.
Description of Work: I have two garage doors - one double door that was getting noisy and needed general maintenance. The second, single door was missing bolts at the top. I thought the bolts could just be replaced but the serviceman said the whole section had to be replaced. I don't know if that is true or not but I had it done.

I contacted Cedar Park Overhead Doors because my ancient Craftsman door opener stopped working and, more importantly, I had had 2 snakes in the garage because there were foot-long gaps in the seal cushions along the bottom of the doors. CPOD said that they could not repair it because it was not compliant with federal safety laws, so I had them come out to install new openers. WOW! Carl was the technician, and he installed 2 Liftmaster openers that are amazingly quiet. He put a flange weatherseal all around the doors as well to help keep out the rain (if we ever get rain again here) and he installed new horizontal struts on the doors. Finally, he installed new seal cushions all along the bottom. Then he showed me how the safety sensors worked (the old opener didn't have that). I am delighted with my new Liftmasters and highly recommend Cedar Park Overhead Doors.

I know it sounds crazy to blow near $5k on a steel roll up garage door but I wanted to update my house. I also collect cars I needed to install an auto lift and the old style door does not allow roof clearance. Roll up doors are becomming more commonplace downtown austin with all the modern building and there are probably 3 in my area of Lost Creek. Being that these are commercial doors, weigh 600lbs and require a forklift to install they require steel work and expertise. Cedar park did a great job installing it, and as I had kids (and these are commercial doors) they retrofitted a bunch of safety items on it as well. This wasnt an easy job, steel work requires welding and installing commerical jack lifts as well. My installer Jeff was great, the owner came out as well to supervise as well as this is becomming more popular in residential homes and they want to get it right as they see it as a growth product line. They have also checking in with me since installation to make sure all was well and if anything needs to be tweaked or adjusted they will be over asap. I am very pleased....I spent a lot but am very happy.
