The installation was performed by Gabriel. He was extremely professional and did a wonderful job; in a timely manner. He was very alert to make certain there were no underlying problems with the garage door itself, and used caution to intall the garage door opener where it works safely. I found it very refreshing to have a company available to me with "old time values and customer service" ! I will most certainly use them for any future needs, and will spread the word to my friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: I contacted Cedar Park Overhead Door to obtain a price for a garage door opener. The gentleman on the phone was very professional, and patient in explaining the different types and price ranges that he had to offer. The appointment to install was within 24 hours of my reqest.

Rusty was my technician for replacing the spring and rollers on my garage door. My hardware was 13 years old. I have a 2 car garage door and it was supported by one spring. I was educated by Cedar Park Overhead Doors and Rusty that one spring was not adequate for supporting my garage door size and weight. My garage door is now fitted with 2 new springs and new "quiet" rollers. Rusty is very professional and answered all my questions. When I was a child I saw what a broken garage door spring can do. I will never forget the damage it caused. I now feel safe with the new installed hardware and a wonderful company providing this service. Thank You

Ted came a tuned up our garage door. The thing was SCREECHING when we closed it. He knew right away that the rollers were rubbing on the rail/track on one side. He made adjustments and lubed everything up. No it's nice and quiet. Even though he had some trouble with some over tightened bolts (not his fault) and the job took a bit longer, he still only charged us the Angie's List coupon rate. I'll call them anytime I need anything related to my garage door.

I called this morning and spoke with a very friendly rep who scheduled me for an afternoon appointment, and said that a technician would call to let me know his ETA. Larry called shortly and said that if it was convenient he could come now - knowing that it is a good drive from Cedar Park to Wimberley. In very short order he was here and began working. One of the things that I really appreciated was how well he listened to my concerns and never scoffed at my limited vocab of the task or understanding of how garage doors worked. He mentioned where to find and what to use products for maintenance of the springs, and before you know it - he was done. He brought his own equipment - ladder, sprays, belt lubricant, and talked with me throughout the whole job explaining what roller types were best for what application, long vs short, nylon vs metal, and many other garage door facts. I am so happy. I had a great experience meeting a very nice technician who was very competent at this job, and dealt with a great service oriented company that completed the job to perfection. I would have never known about them if it weren't for Angie's List - got them straight out of the February 2012 magazine. Thanks Angie!
Description of Work: The garage doors were examined and listened to - boy they just hurt your ears going up and down. The technician pointed out all of the possible areas where problems could occur. He then worked systematically on each area - spring, rollers, tracks, and belt making adjustments where necessary.

I'm a professional mechanical engineer and am known for paying high attention to detail. I called around 2:30 on Friday 2-17-12. Got a quick answer from a woman dispatcher. She ask could they have a technician out that day. Sure. Larry called me about 15-20 minutes before showing up. He showed on time. It was just starting to rain. I showed him the problem with the bent track. He gave me a good recommendation to replace the track and door opener as any fixes would likely break in the future (which I agree with) and I would spend almost as much on special order Genie parts and labor as just replacing the drive system. We upgraded the system from a Genie chain drive to a LiftMaster belt drive per my request. The belt drive added about $80 in cost and I would highly recommend spending the extra money. Everything was installed by 6 that day. I asked about my other garage door. Larry lubricated the track and told me he would not replace it. Again a decision I agree with. He could not have been more professional. He met all commitments for time, materials, and workmanship. He fully explained the system to me. Don is running a very good company. I'm even jealous of the high level value (quality, cost and time) that CEDAR PARK OVERHEAD GARAGE DOORS I would strongly recommend this company and especially Larry.

The whole experience was short and sweet.
Description of Work: This was a wonderfully memorable service experience! Sure, I wish stuff cost less, but I am very happy with this company and the Tech they provided. The spring on our garage door broke Tuesday evening. I found the old invoice for when we had a new garage door and all the accessories installed about 13 years ago. I called the company, Overhead Door Company of Austin, but couldn't get an emergency number. Then I looked on Angie's List and found that Cedar Park Overhead Doors was highly rated by the most reports. Left a request for service on their Web site and found that they opened at 7:30am. The next morning around 7:40 I was about to call them when the phone rang and there they were calling me. They dispatched a tech, who had to drive through the horrible morning traffic from Cedar Park to our house near MoPac and Bee Cave Road. Karl, the tech, arrived at about 9am and quickly figured out that we had non-standard springs because of the large, heavy door. We discussed the options, he called his supplier, and I opted for more expensive commercial grade springs that would last over twice as long as ours had. Karl went and got the springs from the supplier out on Todd Lane, another long drive. He got back and had them installed in about an hour. The door worked better than ever and the higher quality springs will make our opener work easier, prolonging its life as well. The whole service call was finished by Noon and I was off to work, very happy with the prompt, quality service I'd received.

The initial phone call to schedule the appointment was very good. A date was scheduled, with the arrival being between 8am-12pm. The first problem was that the person went on to say it would be closer to 8am, which set my expectations. My service person arrived at 12:20pm, and joked that technically, he was only 20 minutes late. He went on to blame the home office for setting those expectations, that he was overbooked, etc. I outlined the problem, and the service person began work. After replacing some parts and rewiring others, I then tried, successfully, to reproduce the problem. At this point, I lost my temper, having wasted my entire morning waiting what turned out to be no fix. The person then set about trying to figure out the problem, and recommended that the 1/3 HP be replaced with a 1/2 HP motor, "because that's all they usually have in stock." I also mentioned that my other door's light would not come on, and he screwed the light in tighter (which I've tried before, which works only temporarily). To the service man's credit, and due to my obvious dissatisfaction, he did not charge me for the services performed, even though I had calmed down and offered to pay for services rendered. He provided estimates to replace a circuit board, as well as replace the motor with 1/3 and 1/2 HP motors. Now, weeks later, my problem is not fixed (I haven't had time to find another company to come out), and my other door's light stopped coming on a few days after his 'fix'.
Description of Work: Rewired and replaced some parts. Subsequently made another diagnosis, recommended replacing existing motor with a larger HP version. Tightened light in other door. Recommended changing rollers. Provided estimates for various corrective services to original problem.

This was a difficult review for me. First, I want to apologize to you for being 20 minutes late. It is a problem for me when we don't hit the appointment on time. Second, I am sorry we were not able to fix your opener while we were there. There are types of opener problems that require logic board replacement or replacing the entire motor. I am happy that Les took the time to try a couple of different approaches to fix your operator. His recommendation for new operator may have been premature but often it is the best approach form a cost standpoint. By the time a logic board is replaced with the labor, the cost gets close to a new operator. We do not sell 1/3 hp operators because they are Builder level and do not have features we feel are worth the extra $10.00, things like wall consoles and better warranties instead of door bell buttons. Finally, while it may a been a waste of your time to wait the extra 20 minutes for us, at least you have a better idea of what the problem might be with your garage door opener. There are opener problems that happen when bad logic boards that are very difficult to isolate. Les and I discussed this job when he returned from the call and explained what happened. He said that you were very frustrated and angry by our inability to fix the operators. He also said that he was not going to charge you for the work we did in trying to isolate the problem. So in summary, We were 20 minutes late, we tried to fix the opener, but could not, we did not charge you, you gave us a D. We are sorry for not satisfying your requirements and hope that you are able to fix your garage door openers to your satisfaction. Don Grenier

I called Cedar Park on Wednesday, Jan. 19, to talk about their coupon on Angie's List for a $38 garage door tune-up and system check. They offered to set me up for an appointment the next day. The service man, Rusty, came when promised. He was in an unmarked truck, had no uniform, and offered no credentials, but seemed to know what he was doing. I offered him the printed coupon from Angie's List, but he waved it away. He worked on the door spring to balance it and made other adjustments. When he was finished, the door clearly worked more smoothly. I mentioned that I would be paying the price on the coupon. He said he guessed that was right...could he see it. I showed it to him. He then announced that there was a trip fee of $10, which with tax brought the total to $48.83. (must have only charged tax on the fuel fee). While that might still be a good price, a trip charge/fuel fee was not mentioned anywhere on the coupon or on the Angie's Listcompany page. Then, when he wrote the ticket, it was not from Cedar Park Overhead Garage Doors but from Hutchins Garage Doors. I am happy with the way my garage door works. I am not happy about being charged a price different from that advertised. I am also wondering who I was really dealing with. Not very professional.
Description of Work: The work to be performed was described on the Cedar Park Overhead Garage Doors page on Angie's List and on the coupon as "$38 door tune-up and system check"

Dear Customer. Thank you for your review of our work at your home. First, I want you to know we are refunding the Fuel fee back to you today. You will get a check in the mail on Monday. The fuel fee is a difficult proposition in our business and I'd like to clarify our position. When gas went from $1.50 about 4 years ago we all sat down and decided to ask for $5 or $10 from our customers per job to help with the fuel costs. It is an optional charge and if a customer does not want to pay it, we remove it from the bill. Most customers do not have a problem with the charge and understand but others do not want to pay it. We understand. If you mentioned it to Rusty, he should have removed it without question. Most other Service companies have a "Service Charge" ranging from $29 to $129 added to their tickets to cover the incidentals. We do not. I have tried to allow a fairly small amount to be charge to cover the fuel and vehicle expenses. I can understand how this "surprise" charge can be irritating and I will further modify some of our advertising to identify it better in the future. Secondly, we do use independent contractors in our operations. About half the field crew are I/C's. Rusty has been with us about 5 years. Occasionally, Rusty forgets to wear his Cedar Park Hat or T-shirt or his name badge while he is working. He has been reminded. I hope this helps. And I again want to apologize to you for your less than perfect experience. If you would like to discuss it further, please give me a call at 512-335-7441. Don Grenier

This went so well that I can't help wondering if I had an other-world experience. I called Cedar Door at 2:30 and spoke with a person who asked a few questions about the door and what's happening. I explained the main spring is broken on a single-door for a two-car garage. He said someone would be at our house in 30 minutes. 10 minutes later, Les calls me and says he'll be there in 10 minutes. Upon arrival, Les explained the problem, gave me two options for repair, and suggested he inspect a few items as preventative maintenance. By 3pm Les was working to replace the broken part. By 3:30 he was finished. He reviewed the bill with me, reported the findings from his inspection, and thanked me for the business. He was entirely knowledgeable, well-spoken, and professional. He was also gone by 4:15, after a 2:30 call on a Saturday afternoon.

I called Cedar Park Overhead Doors based on their Angie's List ratings about 9:30 in the morning. They sent Les to our home by a little after 10:00, and he was finished by 11:30. I was very impressed. He explained how a twin spring would last longer and help the other door components hold up better, so I spent a little more than just replacing the spring that had broken. He also recommended replacing the rollers with sealed, ball-bearing ones, and the price for that seemed very reasonable. Our door is extremely quiet, and the opener motor hardly seems to be putting out much effort to get it up.
Description of Work: Les replaced our broken balance spring with twin springs, replaced the rollers at the edge of the door, lubricated everything to do with the door, and adjusted how the tracks fit the door.

Called in the morning. Jeff J. arrived a couple hours later. He did a great job fixing multiple problems quickly and professionally. I was impressed with the methods and processes he went through to debug and fix problems. I would definitely use this business again.
I called in the morning and they sent a person that same day. Jeff was very personalble and professional. He installed the entry pad as requested and it is perfect. As it turns out they had also installed my four new garage doors and lifts (hired by my contractor). All work is top notch and I would definitely call them again.

I was startled by a loud metallic bang coming from somewhere in my house earlier today, sounding like it was coming from the garage. I looked around, couldn't find anything. Later that afternoon, the garage door only opened two inches and stopped. I realized that the torsion spring had snapped (the loud bang I'd heard earlier!). A couple of searches online made me realize that there was no way I could get it done myself. I called Cedar Park Overhead Doors and talked to someone (did not get his name) who asked how many springs there were to be replaced, gave an estimate (and told me it would be the same cost if someone came tonight or if they came on Saturday morning, so they didn't charge extra for "after hours" work), took my address and phone number and said I'd hear from one of their technicians, but that it might be late tonight. Chris called about an hour and a half later and let me know he was about 15 minutes away. He arrived a little sooner than that, took a look at the garage door, had me move the car forward about a foot so he'd have enough room to do the repairs, then brought in his tools and ladder and had it fixed within half an hour, maximum. He also reconnected the garage door to the garage door opener track, which I'd disconnected when trying to figure out why the door wouldn't open. Lifetime warranty on the spring, and it's actually a little quieter now with the new spring installed than it was with the older one. I would absolutely recommend this business!

Contacted Cedar Park Overhead Doors in the morning and were told to expect a service repair technician in the afternoon. Our garage door opener had started malfunctioning - it would start and then stop closing when we hit the button - so we called them based on their reviews here on the website. We called Thursday afternoon, and Les was out first thing the next morning. He was more than prompt, he was actually a little early. He figured out the problem in just a minute - when my husband was working on the door sensors the week before, he inadvertently switched the two sensors when he put them back on, so the sensors were tripping and telling the door to go back up. We switched the sensors, and the opener was working perfectly again. It was such a quick and simple fix, he didn't even charge us. He talked to my husband about the expected lifespan of our garage door opener (namely, that ours was long past its expected lifespan), and wrote us up a quote for a new door opener since he was already here. He wasn't at all pushy about it or trying to get a quick sale. And, the price he quoted was very reasonable. When our current door opener fails for good, we will definitely be calling Cedar Park Garage Doors to replace it.

I called immediately after 8:00 am and was asked to hold while they were processing another call. Very shortly, I was able to request the service I needed and give the location and contact information. I was told someone would be at my home before noon. At about 12:30, when I had not heard back from them, I called again and learned that my service request had inadvertently been cancelled. They were very apologetic and said someone would come right away to service my door. Within about an hour (they are located in a small town north of Austin, and I live in South Austin) the technician was here, and about 45 minutes later, my door was fixed.
Description of Work: Garage door spring broke on my old door. Les replaced both springs, one cable, and all of the rollers on the door, and it purrs like a kitten, now. Before, it was extremely noisy, and I'm sure was long overdue for service. I was given both a senior discount (there have to be some perks for getting old!) and the Angie's list discount. I'm pleased with the service and will call Cedar Park again if I need them.

*Note* I would use the company again, but I'd do more research to competition due to fuel fee surcharges. Our garage door opener worked fine but when the door fully closed the engine kept running trying to close the door more, resulting in a loud rattling noise. It could be switched off by pressing the button again. I called Hutchins Garage Doors since they are the top service award member closest to our home (South Austin). I called on Friday at 5:30 pm, got hold of somebody and explained the problem. I provided a name & address and a contact phone and I was offered an appointment between 8 AM and noon the next day (Saturday). Keep in mind that this was not an emergency call, the company is open on Saturday and the opener was working, which I mentioned on the phone. At about 8:30 on Saturday, I got a call from Corey B from Cedar Park Overhead Doors, requesting more information about the problem. I described the situation and he said that he knows what is likely wrong and said that he will be here within the hour.He arrived after about 45 minutes. Corey was very professional, looked at the system and immediately identified the problem - there is a magnet on top of the track that notifies the engine to stop when the part that attaches the door to the chain passes by it. The problem was that somehow the magnet shifted causing the opener to keep pushing the door even though it was already closed. Corey adjusted position of the magnet. He then proceeded to look at different points where the door was chafing against the rail. He tightened up some screws and lubricated the entire system, including the other doors. The door now opens and closes much quieter and the problem has been repaired. I have been very happy with the services provided and with Corey's professionalism. However, after I reviewed the invoice for this review, I realized that $15.00 fuel fee was charged as well. I felt cheated by this surcharge because it was not communicated to me ahead of time and Corey did not mention it when he filled out the invoice. This is the reason why I rated only C on the price. Again, I called Hutchins Garage Doors for their top service award ranking and the proximity to my home (~7 mi). The service was provided by somebody from Cedar park, who is 27 mi away. Corey explained that the same person owns both companies as well as a few others and that they share the pool of customers and field technicians. Perhaps it is my bad that I did not request a quote over the phone and did not inspect the invoice properly and realized it later that the fuel fee was charged. I understand the fuel fee if you drive 27 mi to your customer one way, but it is disappointing that it wasn't communicated ahead of time, over the phone. Since the opener was still working I was willing to wait a few days before an appointment was available by the Hutchins Garage Door company. I was not told that the service may be provided by another related company that is based in Cedar park, nor that a fuel fee will be charged due to the distance. I called Hutchins Garage doors on Monday and explained my dissatisfaction with the high fuel fee. I don't recall the person's name but he offered to refund $10.00 on the credit card, which I accepted. This leaves me with a fuel fee $5 to drive 7 miles one way, which seems fairly steep and hence the grade on price. Overall the service provided was great and I have no complaints except for an up-front communication that any technician within the Greater Austin area may show up, charging a decent fuel fee surcharge. I would use this company again, but this time I would extend my search radius by a few miles to look for other top service providers and check their prices/fuel fee as well. If Hutchins came comparable or cheaper, I would go with them, after I requested somebody living closer to us.
Description of Work: Garage door opener was messing up while closing the door. Corey B from CPOGD diagnosed the problem, fixed it, and provided suggestion and recommendation about the garage doors, including prices for some quieter openers upon my request.

The garage door opener's connecting arm detached from the garage door a couple of days ago. I called Cedar Park Overhead Doors on Thursday at 4:30pm. The man who answered the phone (I forgot his name) asked me when would be the best time for a repair man to arrive at my house. I told him that Friday morning would be good. He said that Jeff (the technician) would call me first thing in the morning to schedule an appointment. At 8:00 am on Friday morning, Jeff called me and said he was just ten minutes away from my house. Jeff arrived at 8:15 am and promptly reattached the arm to the garage door. Jeff was very professional in his dress, mannerisms and he displayed the utmost confidence in the manner in which he corrected the problem. The garage door opener's arm was reattached in about 10 minutes. Jeff tested the work he had performed and lubricated the moving parts at no charge. The work was done quickly and correctly. The price was surprisingly low. Great job all around!
