I requested estimates from three companies, but not only was B. C. Fence the fastest to respond, by far, their price was so reasonable I decided to just go with them rather than wait for the others to catch up. Looks great. The neighbor's tree has a low branch that extends into my yard, crossing the fence line at about 5' high so the guy cut a notch in a couple of the 6' pickets to fit neatly around it. Nice touch.
Description of Work: Fence along the back of the property (about 65-70 feet) was falling down. Needed teardown, full replacement, and haul off of old fencing.

Very happy with Dusty and the whole BC Fence crew. I had 4 quotes and chose BC because of the flexibility and can-do attitude presented. The entire job was completed in two days (on schedule) with a team of between 3 and 6 guys working like a well oiled machine. Dusty himself was there for parts of both days to ensure all the subtleties of the job were well handled. This was not an easy job as the fence line sloped significantly towards the back of the property over a very irregular and rocky terrain. Priority was given to ensure there were no gaps at the bottom where our small dog could crawl out, and they aced it. Didn't think it could be done to be honest, but they did it, and still maintained the top line with no irregularities. Dusty was also able to implement an erosion barrier plan for my pool pad so that rain wouldn't wash down the hill across the equipment pad like a river. Pricing was in-line (middle of the pack) for the quotes received, but we didn't have to pay a penny until the job was done, which to me was very important having had a pool company go bankrupt in the middle of our job years back, costing us $30K in lost money. The crew's cleanup was wonderful as well, leaving each day with all the scrap removed from the property I couldn't be happier with the way the fence looks, the build experience, and the pleasant communications with Dusty and his crew throughout the process.
Description of Work: Replacement of a large wood residential privacy fence including both "good neighbor" and straight line 6" cedar pickets, 6 gates, and a cedar fence around a pool pad.

They responded quickly, came out to give me a quote and after discussing some additional points that would help the fence rebuild I was slotted in the same week. I left work on Friday and came home to a fixed fence. No hassle, no issues, solid work and very timely. Would recommend!
Description of Work: I had a large section of fence blow over during the high winds in Austin a couple of months ago and had BC Fence come out and take a look. The wind had snapped the post in half at the base and exposed my neighbors yard.

The B.C. Fence crew arrived within the one and a half to two week time frame Randy quoted. The first day the fence was taken down and all parts of it were removed from our property. Fence posts were put in after jack hammering into the rock base in order to sink the posts deeper than they had been previously and then set in concrete overnight. The next day the fence was completed. The yard was all picked up and the fence looks great. Randy stopped by at the end of both days of work to see how things were going. There's a rough spot on the wood at the bottom of one of the gates where some cutting had been done and Randy said he would stop by the following week to sand and smooth it out. I'm sure he will, since the rest of the work has been top notch.
Description of Work: We needed to have our over 20 year old backyard fence replaced. In August 2106, Randy took measurements, drew a diagram and priced out the fence. We were ready for the work in March 2017. The estimate needed a bit of tweeking due to the 6 months time lapse, but Randy gave us a couple of options, both of which seemed reasonable. We chose 5/8" cedar pickets with three rails rather than 3/4" cedar pickets with two rails.

I used Angie's List to screen and review the various contractors for our fencing project. I chose B. C. Fence due to the quick response and willingness to work with us during the proposal process. My main contact and the person who oversaw all the work was Randy D. He was very professional and kept me in the loop throughout the entire project. He came by before the project started and verified with us to ensure we were all on the same page. Randy came by to inspect the work and ask if I was completely satisfied. We didn’t have any issues but I know he would have taken care of them immediately. Randy and his team built and installed a custom gate from a picture that we sent them and it turned out even better than what we had imagined. Randy was there a week before, during installation and after completion to ensure we were happy and to make sure there were no issues. I would highly recommend B. C. Fence and if you decide to use this company, Randy is the perfect man for the job.

It has been over a week and still I go outside sometimes for no other reason than to admire my new fence. It was a stressful fence to have built, for several reasons. After many years of boundary issues with the too-close neighbors, a fence was the obvious solution. But the neighbors didn’t want the fence. And it would be a front-yard fence, and though front-yard fences do exist in the neighborhood, they are not the rule. And there is a long flower box (a previous attempt at boundary definition) that runs almost the length of the yard where the fence would be. Several fence companies came out to look at the situation and give estimates. Most companies wanted to do away with the flower box altogether. It was a 28-foot fence, and some companies wanted a “minimum fee” for a small project. Then Randy Deighton from BC Fence came out, sized up the situation and saw several options for building the fence while saving the flower box, even though by that point I was resigned to giving it up. He also suggested that I get the boundary surveyed, given the tensions with the neighbors. So, I got the survey (which turned out to be a wise move) and Randy came out the second time to talk over different designs. And at that point a new difficulty was added when the neighbor leaned out his upstairs window and said nobody could step on his side of the boundary while building the fence. This embarrassed me, but Randy was unflappable. He came up with a plan to take the back timbers off the flower box, timbers held in place by long pieces of rebar driven into the ground. Then basically working from inside the flowerbox, they’d build the fence entirely from my side, jackhammering the postholes through the thick rock, everything. When it was finished, they’d put the flower box back together. Because it was a front-yard fence, it was important to me that it not be thought an eyesore by the neighborhood. I had a rough idea for a simple cedar fence, with latticework for the top foot, and capped off with a cedar top. I worried and tossed and turned at night and drove people at work crazy about that fence, afraid that when all was said and done and the fence was up, it would not look like it did in my imagination, that it would look crude and out of place in a front yard. On the appointed day, Randy came with Alphonso and his crew of two young men. Alphonso had been apprised of the neighbor situation, and the neighbor came out again to stress the stipulation that nobody could step across the boundary. Alphonso was as unflappable as Randy had been. The fence was up in a little more than half a day, and it was beautiful and perfect. It looks even better than it did in my imagination. Every detail and proportion is perfection. And it looks entirely natural, like it was meant to be there. The flower box was put back together, and though they’d had to stand inside the flowerbed while working, none of the plants were damaged. The work area was cleaned up of every dropped nail or piece of sawed wood. Even the sludge of dirt and rocks from the postholes was carted away in buckets. Throughout the building and the cleanup, this crew worked hard and fast and in such synchrony that it seemed they could read each other’s minds. The next day when Randy came to settle the bill, I was pointing out the detail, how perfect it all was. Randy told me then of how much thought went back and forth at the office as they worked out how to put it all together—the height of the lattice in relation to the pickets, toenailing the crossbars so that pickets and lattice would be flush, the width of the cedar strips that would frame the lattice, etc. Like any made object that ends up looking elegant and simple, the devil is in the detail. I’m proud of that fence. The adjectives you’d use for it would be lovely, elegant, natural, strong (the posts are buried deep and I think the fence would withstand a hurricane). I am still taken by the look of that fence when I drive up; I anticipate it as I turn the corner, and it still takes my breath away. Sometimes I drive in from the other end of the block just to see the handsome back side of it (and that side too has been a relief, because, in view of the troubles, I didn’t want to leave the neighbors with something ugly on their side). I will use BC Fence again without hesitation. They built me a fence that not only serves its purpose of defining the boundary, but also adds to the appearance of my yard, and adds as well something lovely to the neighborhood. I am not exaggerating when I say it has the quality a work of art has, that thing that makes you want to just keep gazing at it. If you need something custom made, BC Fence will work with you to realize whatever idea it is you have, they’ll give you an estimate and stick to it, they'll figure out how to work around any difficult contingencies, they’ll get there timely and work efficiently. And what you end up with will be the best of what you were seeing in your mind’s eye and a testament to the pride that company takes in its work. I was surprised and impressed at the level of engagement and commitment shown in this—for them—small project. Janice Pinney, Round Rock TX

We had some problems with one of the parts. The nails they used had too much were plating. They were rich nails. After some arguing we got the right nails and that resolved the problem. They could improve on quality and product improvement. It wasn't over expensive. It was in line and cheaper then some other quotes. It was not the lowest but the product seemed worth it given the other quotes. Whether I would use them again, it would depend on the quality of the other fence quotes.

Hector was a great salesman to work with - helping me think through the pros and cons (and costs) of different options for my fence. The crew was very fast, professional and respectful. I am VERY happy with the finished product and would definitely recommend BC Fence with confidence to anyone.
Description of Work: Installed a horizontal cedar fence around the entire perimeter of my yard.
It went Very Well! Very responsive to my request for a quote. Arrived on time and had quote in hand before he left. Project Manager, stopped by twice to review some issues we needed addressed before job started. Team arrived on day expected, torn down old fence and reset new posts. Day 2, reset more new posts and started installing pickets. Day 3, finished pickets and gate. They had a lot of rock in the ground to contend with, but did it all without issue. Fence is perfectly straight. The wood coloring and quality is beautiful. All done with great cleanup and I am still smiling. Thanks Randy and BC team!

We couldn't be happier with our new fence from BC. It's so unfortunately rare for contractors to do what they say they will do for the price they quote, and BC did exactly that. We met with Hector to get the bid, he was professional and knowledgable. We weren't completely sure exactly what we wanted and he was patient discussing our options. There was a little back and forth as we looked at pictures on their web site and discussed our options, Hector responded very promptly every single time. I'll be honest and admit that I didn't get quotes from other companies, so I can't entirely speak to how the price compared to other people. I do have a friend that works as a carpenter/handy man that has built many fences in his day- I ran the quote by him and he felt it was a reasonable bid given that they were taking down an old fence and hauling it off, as well as using premium grade materials in the new fence. I can't tell you if the bid was on the high side compared to other companies, but I can say you get what you pay for... The Alfonzo crew were the two guys (yea, two) that did all the work- they were the best! Day 1: 260ft of old fence down, brush cleared, all posts in the ground as the sun went down. Day 2: started installing horizontal pickets, stepping the fence up and down as needed for the grade of our yard. Day 3: finished installing pickets, built 9ft pony wall to hide pool equipment, built and installed two quality gates. Done! While they didn't clean the site every day, seems a bit to ask for, and it was a little messy while they worked, didn't bother us, they did clean all debris and trash from our yard when they wrapped up the build. We were able to be around while the fence was going up and the Alfonzo crew checked in with us along the way and even made some minor alterations we asked for. To seal the deal: you sign the contract, they do the work, you pay when it's done. I'm learning that's a real sign of a pro company. No big deposits, even for material. No worries they are gonna disappear. I recommend this company for sure.

Everything went exactly as hoped for. The crew showed up on time and did excellent and meticulous work. Every few pickets, the installer checked the pickets with a level. We had them used metal posts, and all brackets were screwed in (not nailed). The gate was built using solid hardware and screws. The doggie "windows" are a big hit, even though BC hadn't built them before. All work was completed same day.

B.C. Fence replaced my cedar privacy fence. I worked with Hector, he provided the quote and was the project manager. Always on time, professional and good communications. They used high quality pickets, nails and posts set in concert at two feet depth. The skilled team did a great job. I share the fence with three neighbors and Hector offered to break down the cost for each side which was very helpful for me to provide my neighbors with the exact cost to share the cost. After the work was complete all three of my neighbors had D.C Fence do additional work done on their properties. That testifies to the great job, service and competitive price. I would highly recommend D.C. Fence.

Brent was a delight to work with. He was happy to stay in contact with me via email, which is a huge plus because I'm generally too busy at work to take a phone call. On the rare occasion when I was able to talk to him on the phone, he was polite and explained things to me in a clear and concise manner. He was understanding and accommodating when I explained I would not be able to be home for his initial inspection of the existing fence, nor during installation. The old fence tear-down and new fence installation happened in one day. I was amazed, astounded and wonderfully happy. When I do the other side of my house and repairs to another fence, I will definitely call B.C. Fence!
