Highly, highly recommend! Alter Construction rescued us in a true time crunch. Exceptional integrity, detailed communication, and quality workmanship. We’re SO happy!! The Problem: Our first baby was quickly on the way, and we were at a loss with our primary bathroom. We had searched for months for a quality contractor with fair pricing. Several shady contractors ran valuable time off the clock. We were getting increasingly concerned that we would be bringing our first child home to chaos and construction dust. We needed someone who could jump in quickly and would be extra sensitive to our health needs. We also needed to be able to trust them to show up, tell us the truth about our project and get the job done in a high quality way. Oh, and stay within the agreed budget. A VERY tall order these days!! Enter Alter Construction: From the very beginning, Eli Malkin impressed us with his personable, quick but in-depth assessment of our needs. He and his team respected our home, our vision and our time. He was honest about the timeline & budget - it would take considerable coordination to get things done the way we wanted before our daughter arrived. (They completed the project a FULL TWO WEEKS EARLY!) Eli handled everything. Alter Construction gave us such peace of mind. They allowed us to focus on our health and actually enjoy the birth of our first child. And our bathroom shower LOOKS and FEELS incredible!! What an awesome post-partum gift. We had an amazing experience with Alter Construction having our bathroom shower remodeled. There was a little bit of a rocky start to the process when selecting the materials for the work, my wife and I had never been through a remodeling project before and were overwhelmed with the amount and specifics of materials that needed to be picked out. However, after getting some help and a bit of hand holding we were able to get all the materials selected and construction set a date to start construction. The construction process was a dream. We spoke to Eli everyday during the construction process, he would give updates and explain in detail how things were going. When changes were needed, Eli explained the reason for the change and layed out all of the options as well as gave his personal recommendations. There was also a week that my wife and I were out of town (my brother was staying at the house) Eli called and texted everyday with updates and pictures of the work. During the construction process, the crew that was here working throughout the day was very polite and courteous. We are so extremely happy with the finished shower, we love it so much. I cannot express enough about how happy we are about the work that was done, the crew, and about Eli. I would highly recommend and am looking forward to reaching out to Eli and Alter Construction if we decide to have any more work done around the house.

Eli with Alter Construction is an amazing GC to work with. My husband and I wanted to change out the the shower door and floor of our master bathroom. This was a small job and most GCs refused to do anything less than the entire bathroom. We spoke to someone regarding replacing the shower door and that person (Hero, with Shower Doors Today) referred us to Eli for the tile work. Eli was exceptional to work with. He spoke with us and told us step by step what to expect and what needed to be done, including any worse case scenarios that may arise. They began work within a few days. Luis, his main tile worker, was punctual and very respectful and worked efficiently and diligently. Despite not being able to use my bathroom for several days, this was an overall pleasant experience. We still need to get the door installed which will happen in a week but the tile work is beautiful and I can't wait to use my shower once everything is complete. Thank you Eli and Luis!

This is the second time we have used Alter Construction, and again they have surpassed our expectations! Our roof needed replacing after discovering years of hail damage. Alter Construction quickly met our insurance company’s estimate and began work within a day of signing the contract. The crew arrived early and had the roof stripped and replaced by noon the same day, taking every scrap of debris with them. We even made a last-minute change to the color of the shingles and they said “no problem”. Eli and Cynthia made this a positive experience. They are easy to reach, easy to talk to, professional at all times, and actually care about the work they do. Thank you, Eli and Cynthia.

I just used Alter for a second time... Small construction job to extend my concrete patio... Once again, great communication from Eli, everyone showed up a few minutes early, and the work was completed sooner than promised! What I really appreciate about Eli is that he always takes the time to thoroughly answer all the questions I have... He actually "over-communicates" so I learn even more about the "how's" and "why's" of a project. After completion of two jobs I can't imagine using anyone other than Alter.

We contacted Alter Construction after major foundation issues and subsequent repairs left our house with cracks in every wall and ceiling and torn up floorboards and tiles. From our first meeting with Eli, it was clear to us that this was the company we wanted to use. He walked us through every step of the process and gave us several options to choose from. Communication with the company was great. We always knew what to expect on any given day and he sent daily photo updates and summaries of what was done and what was planned for the following day. After the work was started, we ended up changing our mind on a few details and he worked with us to make sure we were happy. Work was finished on time and at the price quoted to us. Alter did not officially wrap until they and we were both satisfied with the quality of the work. I'm so happy with the work Alter did converting my small dining room into an office space! My #1 expectation is COMMUNICATION and Eli was perfect in this regard. I always knew what was happening, when it was happening, and my questions were always answered in a timely manner. The finished project was exactly what I wanted and the workmanship was even better than I expected!

We decided to close in an open game room upstairs. We had several contractors come over to provide numbers and scope for the project. As someone who is in the design/build industry you expect a certain level of service and knowledge. All the contractors minum Alter spent a grand total of 20 minutes looking at the project. Alter spent an hour looking at the project and going over various options and plans. Alter took measurements, pictures, videos of the area to remodel. While also presenting pictures and videos of previous projects. We are a firm believer in you get what you pay for. Alter's proposal for the project was 10 pages compared to the 1 page proposals from other contractors. Alter laid out the entire project scope, what is covered, what is excluded and expectations. During the project, Alter was at our house multiple times a day checking on the progress. What they said would get done for the day was done that day. The craftmanship was impeccable, and clean. We are forever grateful for Alter treating our home like their home. With the great work they did, we decided to excel another project to roll right after the first remodel. We wanted the master closet redesigned and they made it happen. As picky and precise we are as customers, there was nothing we noticed that had to be redone. Lines were clean and straight. They made both project match our dreams and desires. I will never venture out to hire someone else to work on our home. Only Alter will be the contractor to work on our home and feel like family.

Had great experience with Alter constructions building sunroom for our house. The process was so simple. They handled the HOA approval process and city permits. The actual construction was quick and clean. The crew were professional, courteous, knowledgeable and did quality work. We would strongly recommend their company for any sunroom project.

It was a 3-month-long job and we are very thankful to have found Alter Construction to take charge of remodeling the house. For work big or small, straightforward or challenging, Eli is there with his excellent crew. I began the project with trepidations but my confidence grew as I saw how Eli and Aaron responded instantly, even evenings and weekends. We are very impressed by how hardworking everyone is, the enthusiasm and work ethic are rare and truly appreciated. They solved problems, followed-up responsibly and did their best to make everything work the way I planned. Cynthia keeps track of not just all paperwork but provides the clarity and thoroughness that help me sleep at night. I love my new bedroom suite with a brand new bathroom and walk-in-closet. The same with another bathroom, flooring and painting for the whole house. After three months, the house is overall refreshed, ungraded and we are very pleased with it, not to mention the many improvements and corrections. Louis is a master with tile work and everyone who visited, agree with that. Roberto is priceless in his many skills, from carpentry to painting and everything in between. Rubin, for electrical, Anthony and Stephen for plumbing, all a pleasure to work with. They not only clean up at the end of the day, they are meticulous in protecting the floors, stairs ( not plastic sheets but with Ram Board taped to the floors) and minimizing the dust and debris. In three months, the only delays were caused by the late arrival of various tiles and materials that I ordered. Alter is on time and on budget. We are very happy to have worked with this company. Eli and Cynthia do not leave messages or calls unanswered. They do so in minutes!

I deal with contractors quite frequently, and my experience with Eli and the team at Alter Construction exceeded every expectation I had. The team was remarkably punctual and polite. The craftsmanship was top notch. The communication from, and access to the project managers was incredibly prompt, even pro-active. I will not hesitate to use them for any and all upcoming projects.

My wife and I have been renovating our home for the past 3 years on our own but really wanted a professional to do our master bathroom. We met with, got quotes and walked through this project with several contractors before landing on Alter and we are so glad we did! Eli and his team are amazing to work with. Incredible communication, high quality work and really made sure all our needs were met. We were very specific on what we wanted and Alter delivered. They converted our standalone shower and deep soaking tub into one giant shower. Then installed our new vanity, lights and did all the drywall, trim and baseboard work. A complete master bathroom renovation. Alter is very detail oriented and strive for perfection. The tile work was phenomenal with each tile being placed perfectly and grout lines perfectly done. At the end of every day Eli came by to check the work and make sure we were satisfied and lay down the plans for the next day. During this time there were a few things that weren't exactly how we wanted and he made sure that it got corrected before they moved forward. They made sure we were always happy with their work. Also, Eli is a pretty funny guy! If you are looking to get any renovations done, choose Alter. Their work is high quality, very communicative and will make sure before they finish, everything is exactly how you wanted it. We were hesitant to finally hire someone to do a project but we are so glad we did! Thank you Alter!

When we decided to renovate our home we met with several contractors. We read the reviews for Alter Construction and made an appointment. Eli and Cynthia responded quickly and came to the appointment on time. After meeting Eli and seeing the video testimonial and the work that was done we hired Alter Construction and we were not disappointed. Before our project began Eli was always on time for appointments and kept us informed on when work would begin. Before our project began Eli and Cynthia met with us and gave us a detailed scope of work. After our project began Eli contacted us everyday. We always knew where we were on the project. If a problem arose Eli let us know and always had a solution. Our home looks beautiful. I would highly recommend Alter Construction for any home project.

We are very pleased with the work that Alter has done on both our balcony projects. Eli and his team were quick to respond to all of our questions and worked well with us to reach our vision. When there were delays or concerns they were upfront with them and worked quickly to resolve any issues. The work crews were very considerate of our privacy and our home, keeping areas clean when they worked in the house. Alter Construction has been wonderful! I had hole damages from snow storm and squirrels chipping it away around it (one very big including 3 sidings). Had holes closed/covered temporarily . Contacted 3 contractors (including ABC Home and Commercial services) , all contractors told me as sidings in my house not available anymore on the market, they could not keep esthetics of the house. They said would cover the holes in the back with new sidings and not take down the original sidings and re-placed them (“That is the way we do it now”). After 1 year of searching, I contacted Alter Construction. Eli, owner-PM, not only promised me to resolve these issues, but he would keep esthetics, so important to me. He found a material that resembled my original sidings. When his crew had already repaired properly the front, but the T groove was not aligned (because of the different material) asked his crew to tear down, and found a way to cut the new sidings in a way that would match the measurements of previous sidings. Called me outside and checked with me if I liked alignment, they nailed new sidings after my ok. If you look at the house, you do not see the new material at all, or any misalignment with the rest of the T grooves. The sidings of the front windows look aligned, symmetrical and pretty perfect. Same in the back, where they replaced all the first sidings row. They had already painted the house, and I noticed, for the first time and not included in the work order, a siding in the back that seemed old. Eli told me not to worry, his lead crew came next day and took it out, cut new material sidings, replaced it and painted again. No difficult discussions, just Eli saying “ We want the client happy, we are here to make it happen!” Yes, I would suggest this company.

In the Fall of 2020, my husband and I decided to remodel our run down 1978 home. We were spending more time at home due to Covid, and we were ready to finally make our home into a peaceful sanctuary for our family. After living here for almost 20 years, our “To Do” list had grown rather long. We needed windows, siding, bathrooms (no longer set in the 70’s), and more room in our 1500 sq ft dwelling. We excitedly met with an architect to see how we could extend our house and add more windows and natural light in the process. We had the plans and were ready to start construction. Then, the general contractor we had chosen ghosted us. Knowing that this was going to be a big job that would require a very large chunk of change, we knew we needed to make an informed decision. We already had trust issues after having chosen a contractor recommended by a friend who flaked out on us. So, it’s a big deal to make a decision about who is going to redo your home into a place that you will love and enjoy, stay on time, on budget and use our money wisely. This was our first major home project and we planned to meet with several contractors to find out how the process would work and how they could stay within our budget. We looked on Yelp first and searched for someone in our general location, (we love to support our local businesses). The first listing was Alter Construction. The reviews mentioned “responsive”,” great communication'', “trustworthy'', “best materials”, “great craftsmanship,” all the things that you’d want in a general contractor. I checked out their website and really liked what I saw, so I filled out the form and got an immediate response to set up a phone call the next day. After speaking to Eli for the first time, I got a warm and friendly vibe. We set up a meeting at our home to discuss the project and when Eli and Cynthia came over we talked about what we wanted to accomplish and let them know that this remodel would totally change our quality of life going forward. They showed us some photos of their previous jobs and their qualifications were obvious, all of the projects were amazing. The happy client testimonials spoke to Eli and Cynthia’s character and genuine desire to help us reach the quality of life we had longed for for many, many years. Needless to say, we never met with any other contractors, our minds were made up during that first meeting to work with Eli and Cynthia at Alter Construction. We went back and forth via email about what we needed and at our next meeting, we went over the scope of work, timeline, total cost of the project and the payment scheduled. We gave them a check as a deposit, but Eli let us know that until the City’s permits were in hand, no money would be deposited. Once the permitting process was complete, work went fast. We completely moved out and 5 months later, we were back in a BRAND NEW HOME! We did have a bit of a delay during the project waiting on the City inspectors, but the communication between us and Alter was constant. We felt very comfortable calling or texting and Eli was always available and he treated our home with special love and care as if it were his own. Eli is a perfectionist and is always the first to notice if any little thing is off and is quick to reply with, “I’ll fix it!” or “I’m on it!” and he is! The end result is stunning, we have so much more space, our bathrooms are gorgeous, the exterior is perfect and EVERYTHING inside and out is new and improved! We really formed a nice friendship with Eli and Cynthia and miss not talking to them as regularly as before. They are amazing, honest and trustworthy people who really care about you and want the best for you.They are more than happy to help your remodeling dreams come true.

After contacting several companies for our home renovation work of extending laundry room and converting formal dining into a second office we were disappointed in the lack of communication and response and very high estimates and proposals. We fortunately came across Alter Construction which was amazing to work with! Eli and team did great and quality work, kept us up to date and informed on progress and any items that came up during the remodel with options on how to address them. Most of all they completed the work in time before we moved into the house. After my sister recommended Alter I decided to hire them to do my kitchen and it was the right decision, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out! They have great craftsman who did a beautiful job. They showed up each day on time until the job was completed. Eli helped me plan all the little details and made the process so much simpler then I thought it would be. He is professional, knowledgeable , and has a great energy about him which was a nice surprise after dealing with some terrible contractors in the past.

My uncle just had finished his project on the house, so I asked him how was the experience with the contractor and he said it went really good! I contacted Alter Construction and explained in few words about the project. Cynthia asked the right questions and when Eli came he already had all the information. Now that everyone is working from home I had to have a dedicated office. Eli asked if we had an architect or an engineer, we didn’t so he provided those services as well. The nice thing was that we could see the final design and the materials even before we started the project. Me and my wife are working all day from home and taking care of the kids, I just didn’t had the time to manage the project. So that was a such a huge relief to be able to trust them with that. This was our first project and for us it was really big, and they took all our worries away! The communication was exceptional, considering we are always busy from meeting to meeting, so the only way to communicate was through emails or late evening meeting. They adapt to our necessities. I’ve worked with many people before and Eli definitely set the bar high up with work quality, availability and most importantly, honesty. We will definitely keep recommending Alter Construction to our family and friends!
