Description of Work: we made several appts for this contractor to come over and estimate the scope of this painting project. I cancelled one appt; provider cancelled the next one. Now they provider doesn't respond despite multiple calls/emails, and their VM box "is not set up" so no way to leave a msg for them.

Response from ALL PHASE REMODEL & DESIGN
For a year now, we have scheduled and tried to meet with the homeowner, each time she has called us at the last minute, when the contractor was on the way to the house. The homeowner would call and cancel only to call back "weeks" later to re-schedule. We had tried to call them several times and left several messages and emails only to get no response until months later. The homeowner has scheduled and canceled with our office over 15 times. With all the cancellations and scheduling around the homeowner, we still did not charge a cancellation fee. In addition, we do have a voice mail box and an email where the homeowner has left messages before and calls have been returned promptly and appointments with the homeowner were set up, only again to be cancelled by the homeowner.

Excelent work. They arrive on time, he has a big crew so they finished in one morning the whole room including the ceiling. The coupon did not included the ceiling but the extra charge was very reasonable. I had other quotes that wanted more than twice the amount I paid for this job and the quality was excelent. When the finish they cleaned everything and it was like they were never there. They do asked me to empty the room, I had already emptied the room so no biggy but its something to consider.

I was purchasing a house and wanted to paint one room in the several day period between when I closed and when I was moving in. I called more than a week in advance and asked to schedule the paint job. I was told that they could not schedule the work until the estimator met with me in advance, something that I couldn't do until I had access to the house after close. Given the short time frame that I had to get the job done, I ended up using other painters that were more flexible.

As a small remodeling company we have a policy of doing only one job at a time. In order to have met the Member's time frame we would have had to stop in the middle of another homeowner's remodel. (A homeowner who was patient enough to wait, with a signed contract.) In addition, we were not able to gain access to the property to take measurements and offer an accurate quote. We were instead offered the opportunity to look through the window from the outside of the house. We are sorry that the Member was not satisfied with our response time. Our goal is to make each of our customers happy…one job at a time.
I had four contractors bid on this relatively small job. All Phase (JR Pena) was not the least expensive, but he had the best plan to do the job, had excellent references on Angie's List and others, and could do the job immediately which was important to us. He was highly profession, did high quality work, and was very courteous and responsive. We decided late in the project to ask him to do a little more painting and he offered to do it immediately and at no additional cost. We, however, insisted on paying an additional $50. He was very honest and showed great attention to detail. He personally did all the work. We are very particular, not easily pleased, and give a lot of attention to detail. We recommend him for any size job.
Description of Work: The work included drywall patching and matching, texture and painting, caulking, some insulation, some carpentry, and installing flashing and weather striping under an exterior balcony door.

We ended up not going with them. Their price was competitive with two other bids that we got. We ended up going with a company that was significantly lower because they were just getting started. They were professional but they were slow getting the quote back to us.
Description of Work: We got a quote from All Phase Remodel & Design to remodel our bathroom including tile work and repairing some sheetrock. They were also going to do countertops.

I contacted All Phase through Angie's List. They were closer to my home than others I contacted and he came out to see the fireplace and discuss our hopes. We have a large stone fireplace and wanted a large rough mantel to go with the rustic flavor of the stone. JR made a couple helpful suggestions and agreed he could make the mantel as we wished (copying a mantel I'd seen and liked) in a week and a half. We actually changed the size of the shelf after his first visit. When we were ready to start he came out again, did a final measure and as promised had the mantel installed in a week. There had to be an adjustment made to the design of the corbels so he called and met me while I was out to show me his proposed design. That was fine and we are thrilled with the finished mantel in time for Christmas and stockings.

I found Mr. Pena to be very knowledgeable and skilled. His work went beyond the usual stock cabinet installation. His custom work is wonderful and has certainly added to the value of our home. He went beyond the basic install and provided advice and the little extras that give his company the personal touch. His office staff were always available to answer my questions and to work with me. I would certainly recommend him to anyone looking to have a remodel done and done well.
Description of Work: Remodel of kitchen with new countertops and custom built cabinets.
Contacted All Phase through the Angie's List reference. Original bid was for bathroom/bedroom remodel and All Phase's bid came in the middle of the three. All Phase's strength is carpentry and tilework. JR Pena is creative and very good with wood and tilework. The bathroom project was expected to take approx. 4 weeks or so but some extras added, it pushed the job out by another 3 weeks or so. The countertop was purchased through another company and we felt we paid more than anticipated. This drove the project cost increase to over budget. However, we felt we received a fair shake on some additional work such as the closet installation which was originally not part of our project plan. All painting in the bath and bedroom were done satisfactorily. Based on our own rating scale for Cost, Quality and Responsiveness we would rate All Phase with a B-, A and B- on the bathroom/bedroom. For the kitchen and living area, we are extremely pleased with the final product. The kitchen bid was awarded to JR because of the result in the bathroom. The price was in the mid range. The quality of his tilework in the kitchen is very high. He did a great job. The primary issues with the kitchen are entirely around scheduling, responsiveness and punctuality. The remodel started about 2-3 weeks later than planned. Additionally, throughout the project we repeatedly requested better communication on when the team would be at the house to work. We would be told to plan on one day. The day would come and they would not show up. This happened several times and surprisingly, we received no communication by phone, email etc. Overall, the kitchen quality and cost would fall between and A & B. Scheduling and delayed responsiveness would be a C-. This was the most frustrating part of the whole experience. We simply wanted some clear communication and time commits. We learned a lot from this experience and realized scheduling is probably the most important part of any future projects we are planning. Better communication would have allowed us, the customer, to better plan around the workweek and weekend. Without it, the process was very frustrating.

I talked to them, explained the project to them, and explained that I needed it to start in two weeks, and be finished (or at least usable) two months after that. They said these sounded like no problem. JR came out, looked at the project, and had some decent ideas on what I needed done. However, that night, I received an email saying that they couldn't start it when I wanted it, but might be willing to consider it in the future.

IT IS OUR POLICY TO REVIEW THE CUSTOMERS WORK ORDER AND INDIVIDUAL NEEDS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF OUR EXISTING CALENDAR. WHILE TIME FRAMES AND COST AMOUNTS MAY BE DISCUSSED IN THE INITIAL INTERVIEW WE ARE NOT COMMITTED TO ANYTHING UNTIL A WRITTEN BID IS SUBMITTED. THE MEMBER'S PROJECT AND INDIVIDUAL NEEDS WERE DISCUSSED WITH OUR STAFF, AND UPON CAREFUL CONSIDERATION WE CONCLUDED THAT WE COULD NOT START HIS PARTICULAR PROJECT IN THE TWO WEEK TIME FRAME REQUESTED DUE TO PREVIOUS COMMITMENTS ON OUR SCHEDULE. WE VALUE EACH CUSTOMER AND MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ENSURE THAT WE CAN COMPLETE EACH JOB TO THE THEIR SATISFACTION. WE BELIEVE THAT BY BEING HONEST, AND AS ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE, WE CAN ASSURE THAT EACH CUSTOMER'S NEEDS ARE MET. WE FEEL STRONGLY THAT WE WOULD RATHER NOT ACCEPT A JOB THAN TO MAKE A CLAIM WE CANNOT FULFILL. WE EXPLAINED TO THE MEMBER THAT OUR EXISTING CALENDAR WOULD NOT PERMIT US TO BEGIN THE PROJECT ON THE DATE REQUESTED. THE MEMBER WAS OFFERED THE OPTION OF BEING PUT ON THE CALENDAR FOR A LATER DATE, HOWEVER A NEW COST APPRAISAL WOULD BE NECESSARY IF THE START DATE EXCEEDED 30 DAYS FROM THE INITIAL INTERVIEW. IT WOULD BE OUR PLEASURE TO ENGAGE EACH AND EVERY CLIENT'S REQUEST BUT THIS IS JUST NOT POSSIBLE. WE EXTENDED OUR REGRETS BUT FEEL OUR POLICIES ENSURE THAT THE CUSTOMERS WHO DO ENGAGE OUR SERVICES RECEIVE THE HIGHEST QUALITY OF WORK.

JR is truly a special remodeler. He understands home remodeling from the ground up and made excellent suggestions and improvements to our bathroom design. We couldn't be happier - the bathroom looks like a million bucks! Also, he and his crew were extremely careful and conscientious with our home and very "cleanup focused" - an enormous plus! He will be building a sound-proof wall for our media room - hopefully this year. And, I saw the work he did - adding a closet to a bedroom. The result looked like it had always been there - perfect!
Description of Work: Since we had already removed the old tile from the guest bath floor and bathtub enclosure, JR re-tiled and grouted the entire bathroom for us. He also tiled the vanity top using marble tiles. The design was on the diagonal for the tub enclosure including inset marble dots in the floor and enclosure. Not an easy design! Also, he had to correct work done by our demo folks to ensure that the tile walls were even and plumb.

WHEN WE FIRST MET WITH HER SHE TOLD US THAT SHE WANTED HER FORMICA COUNTERTOP REPAIRED BUT THAT LATER ON, SOMETIME WITHIN THE YEAR, SHE WAS GOING TO REPLACE ALL OF HER COUNTERTOPS WITH SOMETHING OTHER THAN FORMICA. WE THEN INFORMED HER THAT IT WOULD BE IN HER BEST INTEREST TO JUST LEAVE THE FORMICA AS IS AND REPLACE THE ENTIRE COUNTERTOP WHEN SHE WAS READY, SO AS NOT TO SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY JUST HAVING THE FORMICA REPAIRED. SHE TOLD US THAT SHE DIDN'T WANT TO SEE THE FORMICA WITH THE BURN MARKS,(2 MARKS THE SIZE OF QUARTERS), ON IT AND WANTED IT REPAIRED. SHE WAS TOLD, BY OUR COMPANY, THAT WE WOULD TRY AND FIT HER IN TO OUR SCHEDULE, AND SHE WAS INFORMED THAT WERE WERE BOOKED MONTHS OUT WITH PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED JOBS. WE KEPT HER POSTED EACH MONTH AS TO THE STATUS OF WHEN WE MAY BE ABLE TO GET TO HER WORK. SINCE WE WERE SO BOOKED, WE OFFERED TO REFUND HER MONEY, SO THAT SHE WOULD HAVE THE CHANCE TO FIND ANOTHER CONTRACTOR TO DO HER WORK. WE ARE ALWAYS WILLING TO WORK WITH OUR CUSTOMERS TO SOLVE ANY PROBLEMS THAT MAY ARISE, AND IN THIS CASE IT WAS AGREED UPON, BY THE CUSTOMER AND THE CONTRACTOR, THAT THE BEST THING WOULD BE TO REFUND HER MONEY. WE DON'T BELIEVE WE DESERVED THE OVERALL RATING THAT WAS GIVEN BY THE MEMBER, WITHOUT HAVING DONE ANY WORK FOR HER.

Mr. Pena was the guy who did the work, and I would highly recommend his services to any one who was in need of any type of remodeling. He takes pride in his work and is very detailed in everything he does. I was a little nervous when this project first began. After seeing him working for one day my mind was put to ease. Trust me he is that good!
