Master Masonry

Master Masonry was one of 3 companies that I had asked to give estimates for hail storm repairs to my chimney. I did not choose this company for two reasons: the estimate was high and his attitude was off-putting (repeatedly hearing how poor he was in childhood is not a reason to charge high rates now).

Foundation settlement and subsequent repair resulted in cracks in the brick veneer exterior of our home. I called Master Masonry to get an estimate to repair the damage. Roger and I discussed the needed repairs, and he provided a written, detailed estimate. A few days later I selected Master Masonry to perform the repairs, and made an appointment for Roger to do the work. Roger arrived on time, and performed the repairs in a professional manner. Roger is a true mason and a craftsman who takes pride in his work. The quality of his work is excellent, and I highly recommend him!

Acknowledged my emails and attempts to have the company come to my home to quote on some masonry services, but was non-responsive when I asked for dates/times to come over and give me a quote. Seemed genuinely disinterested so went elsewhere.

The mail box looks great, you cannot tell there was something wrong with it before. The cracks in the mortar were fixed and the color matches so you cannot tell where the repairs were made. Mr. Landry explained what needed to be done, he was punctual, friendly and had a professional attitude.

It went great. He did great work. He was professional and wasn't there very long. Price was reasonable.

Never called or emailed me back. Never responded to the initial response.

Roger did a great job on the repairs. It took a while to schedule a time for him to come out but his work was top-notch. He takes the time to color-match the mortar and do a clean repair job. It is impossible to tell what he repaired as it blends seamlessly into the existing brick. Everything was cleaned up when he left with no piles of mortar in my lawn. I would highly recommend Master Masonry for any brick repairs.

It went well. He worked out a work map to show me what was going to be done, and where on the house.

Previously, we had Roger repair the bricks around outdoor faucets that had need replacing. We liked his work and when we needed to have the expansion joint in our brick repaired we called him. He came out to look at the joint, explained that he would remove the old caulking (builder's grade) and replace it with an improved caulking that is meant to be used with Texas homes and the movement the home will have in the dry/wet conditions here. Looks good, and is tinted to blend in with the brick. We also asked him to check on the mortar around the windows in the house to make sure there was no cracking/drying that would allow water from the rain to get behind the bricks. He also sealed the brick while he was doing this to prevent pooling of water because not all of our windowsills had been built to have water run away from the windows.

They did an excellent job. THey were very professional, and very curteous. I would recommend them.

I called an spoke with a gentleman who said he was the owner. He said he was busy but could come out and look at my project in approximately two weeks to give me an estimate. He asked me to hang up and call him right back and leave him a voice mail message with my name, address and telephone number. I did as he instruted and left my name, address and telephone number - making sure to repeat it clearly. I never heard a word back from him - it has been approximately 6-8 weeks since my original call. I would NOT recomment calling this service provider due to his total lack of responsiveness and professionalism - it would be a waste of your time to wait for him to respond - it defintely was a waste of my time.

Found Mr. Landry's company on Angie's List. Our new home of almost eleven years had many mortar cracks on the exterior of our home (nothing structural). Mr. Landry was able to come out to my home the same day I had called him inquiring about my concerns. He arrived on time and toured the exterior of my home letting me know what he could do. He was very informative and took the time to explain each crack and what he would do to fix the problems. Called Mr. Landry back to tell him we accept his bid and wanted to schedule a time he could come out.....he came out the very next day! On time, and worked swiftly! Not only was the work done where you can not tell the repairs were made....he fixed my broken mailbox and another area we failed to address for free! Thank you Mr. Landry!

Roger came out and gave us a fair estimate and was back on the day he said he'd return. He did a wonderfully professional job, showing me exactly where he had done work, what he had done and how to care for it. He was at our house for the better part of the day and was extremely professional, courteous and did a fantastic job. I could not have asked for a better mason.

Roger was great to work with and as far as I can tell he's the only guy in the area that does that kind of brick and mortar repair. The work was phenomenal. I would consider him to be an expert in his field and extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend him to anyone for masonry repair. He took cracks in bricks and mortar and made it virtually unnoticeable.

Roger was very tidy and did the work as requested. He is a non-smoker and a family man and I felt comfortable with him around my house. He did extra work on one loose brick that was not on the original work detail which I appreciate. I think my exterior brick walls look a lot better and are more secure. He worked about 4-5 hrs.

My neighbor's son had hit our mailbox on accident, and I called and left a message. Roger called promptly and was on time for the estimate. We had a slight miscommunication on what work to do, but I had no problem. His work was excellent. He was thorough, and I was very pleased with the job, including his cleanup, which can sometimes tell you a lot about someone. I would use him again without hesitating, and I've recommended him to others.

He arrived on time and completed the work and cleaned the work area in a very efficient manner. I added some work after he arrived that we found after his price quote. He was very receptive to including the new repairs and gave a very fair price for the additional work. The work performed was very well done and he was meticulous regarding not getting mortar where it did not belong.

It went great! I solicited four bids for the work, three of which were from contractors obtained from Angie's List. I chose Master Masonry not so much on cost since the bid was the third highest but because I was convinced that Roger (the owner who does all the work) would do the best job. He is a second generation mason and his commitment to doing a job right swayed me to pay more to get the job done right. It was a good choice in that I am well pleased with all the work that was done. Roger came out, sized up the job and provided me a written quote on the spot that included a drawing showing what he proposed to do. Of the four bidders he and one other provided a written quote and drawing. This means a lot to me in that a quote and drawing helps clarify exactly what is going to be done. Roger did exactly what he proposed and did fine work. He even went the extra mile and plugged additional cracks in the mortar that I identified.

Very punctual, very good work, very good price.

Requested by e-mail an estimate, and Mr. Landry had a written proposal in 48 hours. The mortar repair is seamless with the color matching perfectly.

Roger Landry came out to complete an estimate. The bill was $885. He refused to answer any in depth questions regarding the job, and did not want to provide any historical information about their company.

Roger Landry came out for a free inspection and estimate to repair damaged mortar and several bricks. I decided I liked him and gave him the job which he said he could do the next week. He called back on Tuesday of the next week and let me know he would arrive on Wednesday around 10am. Roger and his helper arrived around 9:30 to begin work. The areas indicated on his drawing were repaired as well as several that were not originally noted including one section of wall behind a compost pile and some brick around a patio planter (that I had previously identified). During the final walk-around at 3:30pm, I did find a few voids which I thought we had discussed but were not on the original drawing. (It would have been better if I had been a bit more specific.) Roger went ahead and patched them as required. The work quality was good and the clean up was adequate although I did have to put up one of the garden hoses and sweep up under a gutter where some excess mortar had landed.
