Although slow to get started, due to the winter weather, Maury was great to work with. He ripped out a lot of old shrubs and groundcover, replaced the steel edging, and planted numerous new shrubs and a monkey-grass border. Also, he noticed that I had a soil erosion problem at one corner of my house, and suggested a low stone retaining wall, which he installed, and which looks very nice. He also worked with me as the project progressed to retain some of the old shrubs, and to place a metal sculpture/fountain in the front bed. I'm very happy with the results.

Maury had done some landscaping (no hardscape work) for by commercial buisness and did a good job so I thought I would use him again. I came up with a design plan for my back yard. He slightly modified the plans. The work we decided on was just the hardscape, i.e. 2 retaining walls, a flagstone patio and large stepping stones down to the patio. I had asked if I could go with to pick out matterials. I specified I wanted something that looked natural but would be sturdy and last a long time. Maury asked me to trust him to pick uot the materials-he knew just the thing. First he kept putting off the instillation date. I was just about to give up on him, wish I had, when he called with a date. I had repeatedly told him I wanted to be there the day the steps were placed but on that day he said he really wanted to put in the retaining walls because he had his best guy only for that day. The retaining walls seemed OK except they did not account for the ac compressor and had 4 inches of compost in the compressor so the next day they corrected that by putting a well around the compressor and put down the steps. When I came home that night I could not beleive what I saw. The steps were completely different from the aggreed upon plan and extremely awkward. I requested he redo the steps to plan and decrease the price as I could tell they had spent HOURS with the weird step design and only 45 minutes to re-install it to plan.We agreed to a couple hundred less and I sent him a check for two hundred forty or so less to make it an even number. It was still over $4000 for materials and two 6 hours days of labor. He had 3 guys and himself but on the day I was home Maury was there for less than 1 hour total. He called and was irrate that I sent less. Less than a year later the walls are falling down and the steps and patio stones shifting. I payed top dollar for expert installation but got inferior work. I both called Maury and sent a letter but have never heard back.

We received multiple estimates regarding this issue. Fairhaven was the most detailed and responsive that we contacted. The owner even called to see how we were doing with this problem and let us know if we needed anything we could contact him.

I received a couple of different bids on redesigning our front yard landscaping. Maury was the most knowledgable and interested so I hired him. He created a map of what the finished project would look like, but allowed me to make recommendations. He made slight alterations as needed to keep the job under $5,000. He and his team arrived on the scheduled day and did the work in two days exactly as expected.
