I emailed the company through Angie's List and did get a response from the owner. After exchanging a couple emails he suggested I call him directly which I did. He did call me back but said he does not actually do that type of repair work himself (repair leak in spa) but would have someone he recommends give me a call. After two weeks I never received a call so called him back on the same cell number he had provided previously. I called twice over two days and both times received a message the mailbox was full and could not accept any messages. I then sent him an email through the Angie's List site. He did respond with an apology saying if I would call him he would give me the person's name and number and I could call him directly. I did not feel this was acceptable since I was doing business with the owner and he was handing me off to what appeared to be a subcontractor. I did not feel comfortable that if that person could not be trusted to follow up on a referral for business that he would show up to do the work or complete it in a timely and professional manner. If you are going to place your business on Angie's List it should be you either doing or guaranteeing the work, not to mention following up to be sure calls are being returned. I have moved on to another company to handle the repairs.

I made 2 phone calls for you to a company that could help you. My secretary also talked to your wife and gave her the name of the company and their phone number. I also responded every time you would leave a message at Angies Message Center as you can easily reference at the Message Center. I also left a messages at the Center with 2 phone numbers, one was my Company Phone number and the other my cell number and my office told me you never called them. My Cell phone has never been full of messages. I do work for a lot of Companies and I definitely need a clear line. I check my phone pretty often and have never found it clogged with messages. My company could not have stayed open if I kept that kind of attitude. We love taking care of customers and their needs. There is also warranty on every part and labor for a certain amount of time. The repair part had to be ordered, which took 2 weeks. Installation of the replacement part requied that the line to the #2 pump be cut and the replacement part glued in place. Accessibility to the location of this repair was difficult but Jim did a good job and the repair was completed successfully.
Description of Work: Replaced a broken coupler at the rear of one of the pumps.

On Labor Day, my pool equipment had a huge leak, and I called their emergency number which was answered personally by Jim. He came out to my house within an hour, and had me back up and running. He is giving me an estimate to replace the pump and filter, which are both really old. Their prices for prior repairs have been very reasonable. The best thing about this company is that it is family-owned, and they respond to all calls immediately. Their price for routine pool maintenance is less than most, and Jeff always leaves a note with details about the weekly service. I am so thankful I found Caribbean Blue Pool Company!
Description of Work: I have used Caribbean Blue Pool service for 3 years for routine pool service as well as repair issues.

This contractor cancelled appointments to look at our spa with us twice and we had to call to find out why he missed the appointment.s His estimate was for $1500. After we got tired of having him cancel on us, we called another contractor, whose estimate was much lower. also, the first estimate was made without knowing all the things wrong with the spa.
Description of Work: the provider came out once to give an estimate. He quoted $1500.

I won't be using this company. They were nice but not very professional.
Description of Work: It cost me $75 to get an estimate and he spent his time gabbing and didn't take measurements. Said he would have to send someone else to finish the estimate. Someone else did come, didn't speak English and just looked at my pool and threw out a price.

It was wonderful. They are a well established company. The owner is very good at personal service. He came back to check on his work about a week later. He even adjusted my sweep cleaner while he was there because it wasn't working properly.

The company charges $75 to bid the job, which they offer to "credit" back if they get the business. I was in the interior design/remodel business for many years, and I remember how tough it was to compete for business. But that's what you do. Maybe I'm bring unreasonable, but I find it highly insulting that a company can't be bothered to try to win my $20k job. We did not move forward with them because of this. Which is unfortunate, because we have gotten a lot of great feedback about them. :( But maybe they don't need the business, which I hope is the case. Good for them, if so!
Description of Work: We are looking for a company to renovate our pool, spa & patio, including plastering, tile, coping, decking & waterfalls.

Our Company is delighted that the feedback was positive. Our company strives to make that a priority. However, we do charge a $75.00 fee for lengthy estimates and also if there is a considerable amount of driving time. This property is in Mckinney, Tx. and we are located in Carrollton, Tx. With the rising cost of fuel, we sometimes have to charge. We also reimburse the $75.00 charge to the Homeowner or apply it toward the bid if we get the job. We, like a lot of other companies are feeling the effects of the sluggish economy. It is unfortunate we didn't get to submit a bid to this Homeowner, but as I explained to the Homeowner, she would be refunded the $75.00 if she chose our bid. Sincerely, Jim McCrary

Greg removed the grids from the filter and discovered the manifold was cracked. He continued to clean the grids while I phoned my home warranty company for coverage of the manifold replacement. This was the easiest coordination I've experienced on a repair job. The warranty company immediately phoned Betty at Caribbean Pool to issue a work order and the work was done right away.We have also contracted with Caribbean Pool to perform weekly cleaning of our pool and they have done outstanding work. The pool sparkles like a diamond!!

Well I called them on Monday, they said they would be out on Wendsday and call me Wendsday morning to let me know what time they would be out. Wendsday I didn't get a call and no one showed up so I called them at about 5pm to ask them what happened. They said that they forgot to call but that they would be out on Friday or Saturday. They called on Friday to tell me they would be out afternoon that day. The man came out and looked at our equipment. I told him what the problem was but he wasn't very communicative. He said that he would have to get back to me on the quote later that day or the next once he got back to the office. I never heard back from them. We've decided to go with a different company.
Description of Work: He came out to give us a quote on replacing our filter and replastering our pool.

On the first call they were very nice and stated that they would call me in the AM of a scheduled day to give me an arrival time. No call was received on the scheduled day, so I called them and they stated that they could not come that day but would come the next day. Received a call the next day where they said that they wanted money for coming out to do the estimate and maybe they had forgotten to tell me that. Yes they forgot to tell me that and they wasted 2 days of my time. Very annoying.

Great. If I need to use a maintenance pool company, would surely use them.
Description of Work: We recently purchased a home with a swimming pool and it being new to a pool ownership wanted to start off correctly. I called Caribbean pool supplies and talked to Betty, who is very personable. The appointment was delayed a couple of times and after which Jeff visitied. Jeff is very experienced and helped me with lot of tips including how to lower the maintenance costs of a swimming pool. Few of them being: 1. Using baking soda instead of expensive alternatives that other supplies sell 2. Using a chlorinator instead of inline chlronitor that would surely corrode the motor. This chlorinator is sold in amazon.com like the one I purchased - "Kem-Tek 879 Pool Floating Tablet Dispenser Pool and Spa Accessories" 3 Minimum chemicals that need to be maintained on a yearly basis instead of buying them on a weekly basis. Very educative and would highly recommend it even for semi-experienced pool owners.

My hot tub began to leak at some point on a Friday. I didn't notice it until late in the day and I paniced! I called another service on Angie's List who was also rated highly, but he didn't service hot tubs. He recommended I call Caribbean Pool Service. I contacted them and spoke directly to Jim's wife Betty. I explained my situation as well as the hope that someone could come out that same day so we could use the hot tub over Mother's Day weekend. While I knew I was making a tall order, Betty said Jim would come by on his way home. He showed up on Friday evening and thankfully the issue turned out to not be a major problem. While there Jim was kind enough to show us how to use the pool cleaning system! He was extremely friendly and helpful. He reminded me of my Dad. I have already recommended Caribbean to a friend who was just as pleased! I plan to call Jim and Caribbean for ANY of my pool or hot tub needs.
Description of Work: We just purchased a new home with a pool and stand alone hot tub. I had a hose that sprung a leak and my hot tub was draining. Jim McCray repaired the leak. He also showed us how to maintain the pool and hot tub.

He arrived promptly and took a look at the pump. He had the required part and took care of the repair immediately. This is the second time I've used Caribbean Blue Pools and both experiences have been very positive. Not only is Jim a pleasure to work with but I know that he's truly interested in building a relationship with me as a customer. He's going to take care of the problem and not look for other issues to pad the repair bill. Jim pointed out a few other aspects of my pool equipment that I should be aware of that didn't require action at this time. He takes time to explain what he's doing and in terms even I can understand. I highly recommend that you give your business to Jim and Caribbean Blue. Its like getting advice and help from a friend or neighbor. How many businesses are like that?
Description of Work: When we returned home from vacation, the pool pump was not running although there was power to it. I called Jim first thing on Monday morning and described the problem over the phone. He told me of three possible issues that could be affecting the pump and offered to come out that day to take a look at it. The pump only required a minor part and the repair was handled quickly.

Technician came by and inspected my salt pool and associated equipment. Pointed out where the booster pump was leaking a steady stream. I authorized him to go ahead and order part. He returned two days later, repaired seal on pump, replaced DE filter cartridges and thoroughly cleaned pool and treated it with shock. Tech was professional, friendly, and gave me detailed description of what he did and what I needed to do to keep pool looking good this coming summer. Very satisfied with service and will use them again.

When we contacted Betty & Jim they immediately came out and inspected our pool as well as another friend of ours pool, gave us an estimate, we requested major services, re-doing plastering the main pool, fixing the insight pool and spa light that we found had not been grounded from the beginning, they also repaired, fixed and replaced what was necessary with our salt water system, provided estimates, and we are using them for monthly pool service. They are honest and straight forward, they are punctual.
Description of Work: Repaired and replaced pool lights, refinished the pool and spa, replaced some of the saltwater equipment that was not properly installed, we are using for monthly pool service.

Jim showed up around the time I was told (next day from call). He was very nice and professional and really seemed to know what he was doing. He tested everything thoroughly and said that my thermostat on the spa side was not working, it was shutting off every few minutes. The pool side control was working though and should be fine for heating my hot tub. Jim made sure it was heating before the service call was completed. The next day Jim followed up with a phone call to see if the spa reached the desired temperature which I thought was very nice on his part. Caribbean Blue Pool Service has just earned my business, for not gouging me for a new thermostat when they easily could have.
Description of Work: Spa repair, my spa was not getting to an acceptable temperature.

It went well, as Jim is professional. He is a small business owner and he is prompt and responsive. There was some miscommunication when he diagnosed the problem with my wife. I was seeking a second cost quote and was fine using his services if he met the quote. A local pool company was in the throws of a sale, so that if I bought the motor they would install it for free. As a result, I ended up paying more than what it would have cost me for the exact same motor and replacement; however, because Jim was very professional, I stayed with his services and he worked with me on my final cost. I will also say that after the repair, I immediately ran into another problem that wasn't there prior to the repair and Jim did lend some suggestions that helped me avoid another service call and more cost.
Description of Work: I needed a burned out motor replaced on my pool.
