This past weekend our four-ton A/C unit suddenly stopped working, meaning the motor still made noise, but the fan stopped completely and no air came out. I called the man who had been our main A/C repairman for years, a very honest man,but due to illness this last year he had to retire. Before him I remember having to go through a string of shoddy companies,and always had to get several opinions to make sure we were being told the truth about any A/C repairs. Anyway, our retired A/C repairman did give me the name of a company who he highly recommended. I called the company this weekend and left a message,but never got a call back. So this morning(Monday) I began looking on Angie's list for someone who could come out as soon as possible. I called one highly recommended company located in Dallas very close to us, but was told no one could even come look at the unit until the earliest tomorrow evening. Then I called Calahan Construction after reading some of the positive reviews on the company, but being they are located in Carrollton I figured that they may not want to service our area. I called about 10 a.m. and immediately got Stacey, owner of Calahan Construction. He was working another job, but said he told me he could come over by 1 p.m. today so I was thrilled. Then Stacey called back again, to tell me that he could have one of his workers, Desmond and another associate to come within the hour!! I could not believe the promptness!!. They came over, diagnosed the problem(the capacitor) and were finished quickly, big relief and the price seemed very reasonable. We have had umteen repairs going on right now(enough headaches) and we really appreciate having this one repaired as who doesn't want cool air again!!! Thanks Calahan Construction!! I will definitely call Stacey again when we need any A/C repairs done.

I purchased the online coupons for $55 service - 1 for each unit. I had to call a couple of times to get an appointment set up, as Stacy didn't call me initially to set up a time. Luckily he could come round at 9am on a Monday after buying the coupons on Thursday afternoon. They were very punctual and called before arriving. I felt their servicing was very thorough - they were here for about 1 1/2 hours and were constantly busy. Stacy was very nice - explained things to me, etc. Unfortunately i have leaks on both units - in the coils - so needed a freon top up as the house was not cooling at all. It took 3lbs of freon per unit at $75 / lb !! Yikes that was a shock, but i had to do it to stay cool. So $450 later (less 10% for being an Angieslist member), plus 110 for the service we have a cool house. Stacy gave me estimates for what it would cost to replace the coils, which we will probably do before next summer....hopefully the freon top up will tide us over until then. All in all a good experience and I will certainly use them again ! Update - 6/28/13 about 2 weeks after the service the freon had leaked out of the downstairs unit again and the air con was running 24x7 just to maintaint 83 degrees, so spoke to Stacy who said they were running an Angieslist coupon special for a new coil and compressor - 13 seer, 5 ton for $3k. It was time for us to replace as we'd had the leak for the 6 years we've been in the house and i guess it just got really bad. I called him on the Tuesday and by Thursday 2 guys from his team came out to replace those components - big job -took about 8hrs, but the house is lovely and cool again. A couple of days later one of the overflow pipes was dripping, so i called Stacy. He and one of his team came out promptly at 9 the next day and found that the primary drain on the upstairs air con was clogged (not the one they'd just replaced). He got that all unclogged and showed me how to do a little preventive maintenance to prevent it from happening too soon again. And he did not charge for that callout ! wow - thank you Stacy. I am very satisfied with the work, and the team at Calahan and i will continue using them for annual maintenance !

I was very pleased with the visit. Everything I expected was done and more - he changed any filters I had on hand. The company I used to use only offered to change anything I purchased at a high price from them. I needed some freon is 2 of 3 units. All units continued to work well since the visit. My old company would leave and I would have a problem within a week almost every time. I felt like Mr. Calahan was trustworthy and hard working. I will use them in the future.

I think the provider rushed through the process and not sure if all the services were done as advertised.

?Free Used HVAC System Install For the Elderly? that?s what I read on the Craigslist Ad, and of course I could not believe it, but WOW! Was it ever the truth. I called the number and talked to Stacey about my elderly parents, they met all the criteria that qualified them for one of Stacey?s free unit installs. Stacey came out to my parent?s house the same day we talked on the phone, not only did he size up the work that needed to be done to replace the old unit, he fixed the old condenser unit that day, it was Cooling the house down when Stacey left ( the temp in the house that day was 94 deg. ) Stacey and his crew came out Wednesday 5/22, tore out the old unit, rebuilt the closet because of rotten wood, installed a Very nice Gas Furnace, new coil and new condenser unit, cleaned up and hauled away all the old stuff, the cost was ?ZERO Dollars? My parents say it is a blessing from God and are very grateful to Stacey for all the hard work and all the free equipment. We will refer everyone we know that needs AC or Heat repair or replaced to Calahan Construction. Mom says it?s comforting to know that there are people like Stacey in the world, Thanks again Stacey. I called this company because of a Big Deal they had on the Angie's List. I called and was told that it would not be quite the right unit for my situation (since it was not a heat pump and I needed a heat pump). The company owner though came out the next day and gave me the most reasonable estimate I got from any company for the installation, and they also were able to help secure financing. They came back out a few days later for the install. They were a couple hours late due to car trouble with the service van, but I have to say the two men doing the install were the most pleasant workers I've ever had come into my house. I really enjoyed talking to them about the install. They had a hard time getting the air handler to fit, but kept at it until they got it in there securely and with a good, solid airflow. The owner also called me afterward to check on the work. Overall, a very positive experience!

My wife was at our home, and the total service call lasted only 30 minutes. They said everything was working fine and that there was no need to add freon to our unit, which I thought was unusual. I did some research and discovered that a service call like this should take about 2 hours, instead of only 30 minutes. I feel like they really cut corners and didn't actually provide the services they were supposed to. The whole thing seemed really fishy.

The gentleman were professional, pleasant, on time, quick, and thorough with the cleaning and inspection. They were even gracious enough to take my trash out. A thousand bonus points for that!

I called them and thought it would take a lot longer to come out. But they were out to my house with in 2 hours. Once they checked both our units and figured out the problem, they went to get a new part and it was fixed by that afternoon. We have had a great running A/C for a month now and really appreciated their promptness and professionalism.

I am very pleased with the work performed. The price was great. It was an Anigie's LIst coupon, which saved at least $40. The service men were polite and business-like. I felt the work was honest. In other words they didn't tell me I needed a lot of work done on the A/C which wasn't necesary. The only reason I gave a B for puncualtiy is because the workers showed up at 8:30AM instead of 9:00AM as scheduled. For me, early is not good because I wasn't ready for them, but I got ready mighty fast. Yes, I would definitely use them again.

Mr. Callahan was the BEST! I needed my outside R-22 A/C unit replaced due to a burned out compressor and I was only feeling heat in 1 room of my home. Mr.Callahan explained that the R22 systems were becoming obsolete and told me the benefits of upgrading my entire system, although he didn't pressure me. He had the equipment I needed and his pricing was comparable to other quotes. His financing process is quick and painless,and he notifies you of the results within 24 hrs. I was not initially approved for financing but when he begin working with a new lender, he was kind enough to submit my application. He notified me of his continued search on my behalf and informed me of what was happening with each step. He was flexible with my schedule and called when/if he realized he may be off schedule. Upon arrival he was very neat,mannerable,professional and explained his diagnosis thoroughly. He also agreed to correct as much as possible without charging extra. On the day of the installation, he asked for permission to complete the outer portions of the project prior to our scheduled time to save time.The install went quickly and my A/C is BLOWING COLDDD!!! When he found a component that couldn't be repaired within the original estimate, he agreed to repair it at a good price. He not only warranties his work for 3 mo., he called the next day to make sure everything was working well.

Stacey gave us a very fair and reasonable quote for two new ac/h replacement systems. My wife and I felt he was very honest with us . We were approved through his financing prior to the quote ( a very easy process). We impressed that Stacey did not try and sell us up into a system we did not need even though we were approved for a higher unit than we chose. Installation was smooth and the system works great. We had approximately 10-15 separate bids and chose Stacey.

We detected water in our living room area and found Stacey who was working in the area. He diagnosed and fixed the pipes for a nominal price. We got three quotes from different people but Stacey was thorough and was very knowledgeable. We are glad we chose Calahan and will definetly call him for any construction projects.

The AC gave out in a house we were about to put on the market. After getting several heart stopping estimates we saw an ad for Calahan Construction and called the next day. They provided a quote over the phone that was considerably less than the other estimates I received and I was sold. They came out when they said they would and installed our new HVAC system quickly, professionally and for the price they quoted, and they were very careful with our newly refinished wood floors. I would definitely hire them again.
