Andys Sprinkler Drainage & Lighting

We have had flooding issues in our back yard for a few years and have been working on different remedies for almost as long, and none have worked. Chris came out and discussed different options in hopes of a solution. They ended up removing a small sump pump and basin (and filled the hole) and installed a much larger pump and basin in a location that made more sense. The company that installed the initial pump didn?t know what they were doing and never sealed it properly and it kept shorting out ? until it just quit working. This new pump is a beast and works great! They extended drainage pipes that we previously had installed but for some odd reason, they stopped in the middle of our yard and kept flooding our septic system as well as the yard itself. Andy?s did some grading and replaced sod in those areas; they added another drainage basin and 3 drainage pop-ups outside of our fence so all the water now drains into the easement rather than flooding our yard. They were very careful when lifting the sod to add the pipes and replaced it perfectly. You couldn?t even tell they dug in those areas. They spread approximately 25 yards of mulch (I ordered the mulch and river rock separately) for us and created drainage paths around the entire yard and filled them with approx 10 yards of river rock. They also added large stepping stones for our walkway. It looks great! Ed and Chris often came by to make sure everything was being done correctly. All of the workers stayed hard at work and were very nice. We noticed a couple small areas where the sprinkler connections must have come loose so I called Chris and they came back and fixed immediately. We have also used Andy?s to add some drips lines around our trees. I plan to continue to use this company for all our sprinkler system needs and highly recommend!

We have used Andy's Sprinkler several times now. They have always done good work.

I'll start with the good. The team of 3 guys sent over to my house led by Hugo were great. They did very neat and quick work to replace about 6 sprinkler heads, cap an unused sprinkler and replace about 12' of controlling wire that was damaged by my dogs which made the backyard zone inoperable. They were punctual and professional and did great work, keeping me informed all the way through. I would love to give this company an 'excellent' review based on that, but I cannot do so because of the absolutely misleading information I received on the front end. When I was researching sprinkler repair on Angie's List, I selected Andy's because of their rating and reviews. I called them to inquire about the estimated cost for my repair job including parts, labor, service fee, etc. I was told that the cost of the service visit would be $95 and that there was no labor charge. Instead, I would be charged the cost of the parts used to repair my system. I asked again to confirm this information and was told this was correct. Having done many sprinkler head replacements on my own, I know that full retail for them at Lowes or Home Depot is about $5 to $10 each. When Hugo got to my house and started the work, I quickly found out that each sprinkler head they were replacing was at a cost of $35! Now, I'm not naive and was expecting either full retail price (thinking Andy's gets their supply at cost) or a slight markup, but was NOT expecting a markup at a multiple of 3x what I could buy the parts for myself. Hugo explained that while they do not technically charge for 'labor', the labor cost is built into the price customers pay for the parts. I called to complain and spoke with a supervisor named Josh. He told me that he was sorry and that the girl I spoke with didn't explain their pricing properly. OK, that's fine. But as a consumer, I can only go by the information I was given when I asked the questions. Unfortunately, the whole experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. Had I known the markup of parts would be 300% of full retail, I would have never hired Andy's in the first place. Their pricing strategy is misleading and shady in my opinion and I HOPE that any future Angie's List consumers will be going into any transactions with them with their eyes wide open. It's too bad, too, because their work was very well done. In spite of that, I probably will go with another service provider next time the need arises because I don't care for companies that play pricing games with their customers.

I called for an estimate on a french drain on Monday, received a call back the next day and was told "they would try to get out to Richardson on Wednesday". Never heard from them again. It's been 3 weeks. My neighbors called for an estimate for issues they were having last week, someone called back the next day and said he would be happy to come and give an estimate to them for a fee of 50$, payable whilst he was there. They declined. Either this company is completely disorganized, or they have more business than they can keep up with. If you are too busy, just say that in the first place so we can find another service provider.

Our back yard had become a lake due to an issue with the French drain system and sump pump so we called Andy's after finding them on Angie's List. Jerry came out to diagnose the issue and was clearly very knowledgable and glad to answer all of our questions. Today, Brett and his crew came out to do the actual work. They were courteous, professional, and got right down to business. They clearly know their stuff. They made sure I knew what was going on at all times and when they finished, did a great job of cleaning up the yard. (Digging in a yard as wet as ours is makes quite the mess!). I will definitely use Andy's again and happily recommend them to friends and family.

The water pipes had cracked . The main line of irrigation was flooding the yard and drive. Brett came out in just a matter of minutes the leak was repaired . All smiles here. He made it a GREAT DAY !!

They were really good to work with. They gave us good suggestions and estimates for future work. They moved some of the sprinkler heads around to get better coverage for us.

We’ve used them about seven years. They had several locations in different cities in Texas and we've used them before to our satisfaction. Scheduling was quick and easy. They had a delay, but they called to let us know, and even offered to reschedule. They got to work and it was excellent. We plan on using them again.

It went fine. Scheduling was easy. They came when they said they would and they were very prompt. They were here around 20 minutes and were polite, fixed everything that we asked them to, and did a good job.

The crew alerted me they would be arriving within 20 minutes via phone as I was told would happen. I then received a second call that they had to stop for fuel and that it would take an additional 10 min. I appreciated this and consider it to be very professional. Once they arrived the lead man (Wilson, I believe) confirmed the work I wanted done and the crew went right to work. I was included in the process and informed of every step of work being performed. They pointed out a few issues that needed addressed and corrected them with my permission and alerted me of the cost to do so before proceeding. The crew worked fast and were very efficient. They also asked if I wanted them to program the system since the one hour minimum was not up but I told them no. I wanted to do this myself once I researched the watering schedule for my location. They were recommended by my neighbor and I then researched them on Angie's list. Everything matched and checked out very well. I am very satisfied with their service and will use them again as well as recommend them to other friends and neighbors. I was raised in a family of construction workers and contractors and have a formal education in engineering with a career in telecommunications an an field Engineer. If I was creating a vendor list for this service Andy's Sprinkler and Lighting would be at the top of the list. Very welcoming experience in todays business world. Thanks guys

The service went well. They were honest about what needs to be fixed and didn't try to sell me a whole new system. They were focused on what I needed and what I was looking for. They went through the whole system and they dug about a foot to see what the problem was because it was sweating in one area. They were timely and honest.

Called that morning and they were out and ready to work at 3:00 that afternoon. They were gone by about 5:30. Cleaned up everything. I will definitely call them for any future work.

They arrived on time and wasted no time identifying the problem. They replaced a bad valve and altered some of the heads and adjusted all of the heads. It works great now.

Jerry Maxwell was very helpful from initial consultation, the proposal, then another visit to confirm my everchanging mind, a final proposal and contract. The crew showed up on the scheduled start day on time and prepared with all equipment needed to do the work. The work was installed professionally and was completed in 2 days. Follow up for fine tuning the system occurred 2 times to assure suitability for newly installed plant materials. Jerry was involved at the start of the work and with all fine tuning and adjustments. I highly recommend Andy's for quality, price and professionalism.

The salesman, Josh, did an excellent job. Their quote was a mid range quote. They offered the best service for the most reasonable price. He adjusted my quote as many times as I needed. He kept me informed on what they would do and was very knowledgeable. He really went out of his way to help us and did an outstanding job. They were very neat in their work and did not damage any part of the yard. It was not an easy job but they were happy to make sure they did everything right. The system works great now. I would highly recommend this company to others.

What impressed me the most was their flexibility.

They arrived on time, were very professional, and did good work. They did not honor the Angie's List $10 off coupon, but other than that I was very pleased.

It was not a good experience for me. They wanted to repair some of the heads and wanted more money for the service. I thought the deal was misleading.

I called Tuesday, and scheduled an appointment for Thursday, 8:30 AM. Two servicemen arrived punctually at the appointed time and got right to work on the problem. They were very courteous, and clearly knew what they were doing. In no time, they had the problem fixed. They performed a complete operational system check, whereupon they identified and fixed two minor leaks. I've used Andy's Sprinkler & Drainage for years, now, both for sprinkler system work and installation of drainage, at two different residences. They can always be counted on to do a great job at a fair price, and I would recommend them without hesitation.
