Description of Work: The used hot glue to attach pipping that only lasted 2 months. When idem was returned for repair, the hot glued again which lasted 2 months. I bought headless nails and repaired myself. Also, four chairs where rebuilt and as soon as one chair was used, the leg became loose. These were old chairs, but, if they were not able to be repaired, I should have simply been told instead of charged for restoration.

Hi [removed members name], I'm sorry you were not satisfied with our work. Would you like a refund? Also, if the chair is loose you can bring it by again for us to repair. Thanks, Swan

Description of Work: Everything was fine but the price seemed a little high (we could not find anyone else in Dallas area that fixed/replaced cane chair seats). The reason we will not use again is that we have retired and moved to Memphis TN. Don't remember cost except that it seemed high at the time.

Hi (Member name removed), I'm sorry you were not satisfied with our pricing. Unfortunately the cost of cane has increased, therefore we charge 125 to repair cane chairs. I believe the pricing is fair considering no one else in the area repairs cane and it is quite time intensive. To be honest, we probably won't be offering this service much longer. Thanks, Swan

All 4 items are still used in my kitchen by adults and grandchildren. Your site would not let me change the choice for where the work was done. The work was done at their place of business, not at my home.
Description of Work: They refinished and replace the wooden round seat of two bentwood ice cream type of chairs that actually were used in school libraries long ago. The refinishing was good, they turned out a little darker than I wanted but since they are old and I have 6 total that are a bit different in color do to age they worked out fine. The two bentwood short stools had the top padding cover removed and replace and made not so thick so they could be placed under a old wooden low table used as a kitchen island.

Hi [member name removed], Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our company. I can't remember this job...I may have been traveling in Ireland at the time, but I hope you found the workmanship to your liking. Unfortunately we can rarely do jobs at the client's home as most of our tools are located at the shop. Hopefully you will remember us next time for your upholstery needs. Thank you for your business, Swan

A number of years ago I used this shop to recover an ottoman and replace the cane bottom in 6 dining room chairs. They did an excellent job so I decided to use them again. But this time I was disappointed. IAbout June 2, 2011, I hired Addison Upholstery to totaling reupholster an armed claw footed chair with matching ottoman and a small old armless side chair with a upholstery seat and small backrest. I supplied all the fabric. For the armed side chair and ottoman a woman in the shop agreed to replace the seat with an extra thick solid foam cushion, replacing the padding over the frame, springs/straps and cover with new fabric for $400.00. They told me it would be ready in 1 week. It was not ready until about 14 days and I picked it up on June 16,2011 . The Chair and ottoman looked great and the charge was $403.00. When I got it home I found that the chair was not done as ordered and agreed to . They had not replaced the seat cushion with a dense, thick solid foam seat, and had not padding the frame at the seat. The seat cushion was lumpy , uncomfortable and not thick enough to keep one from touching the frame of the chair when you sit in it , which was why I was having the chair redone. When I compliant to the owner on June 22, 2011 and he came to my home to look at the chair . He told me the problem might be that I “weighted too much”!!! I am 5’9’and wear 14/16 . The owner was not receptive to my complaint and did not appear to be concerned that the chair was unsatisfactory and uncomfortable. His solution was to charge me $70.00 and they would removed the seat fabric and replace the seat cushion with a new solid dense foam seat as I had ordered (and already paid for) then recover with additional fabric which I happen to have some remaining. I negotiated the price to $40. I felt I had no choice but to pay the extra money or have a chair I could not use until I found someone else to correct the problem. Hoping someone else could fix the seat without having to redo the entire chair. The redone armed chair was returned in about 1 week ( about June 29) it was much better but after a few days I realized they had not replaced the seat cushion as they had agreed and charged extra for but add a layer of foam or something to the seat. Plus when the chair was returned it had been damaged. A nicked on one wooden claw feet and another one on an arm . Probably due to fact when they came to my house that only one small man came to picked up and deliver my bulky, heavy chair when two would have be more reasonable.. Since the owner was not receptive to my first complaint. I did not expect him to be more helpful or courteous the second time around. Since I had no more fabric to match the chair I decided to say nothing and quit dealing with him. As for the very small armless side chair, the upholstery had been partly removed from the frame . Only a small partial back rest and seat were upholstery with the majority of the chair being wood. On June 22, 2011, the owner agreed he would remove everything from the wooden frame and use all new materials for the padding, straps or springs , etc. Also, he would increase the padding of the seat and backrest to be thicker than it had been. Using fabric I would provide the cost would be $150.00. The chair was returned to me about June 29,2011 for the price agreed to. After a day or so it was apparent the shop did not used any new padding as we had agreed. It appears the existing old padding was covered with the new fabric that I supplied. This chair looks nice but it not comfortable as it would have been had it received with new padding and parts that I ordered it to have. The owner did tell me he tightened up the old springs . He did not said anything to me about why he did not replace or add to the padding. But he can be a bit difficult to understand due to his accent. I decide not to say anything about this problem since I had already decided not to deal with him again due to the other chair.. This shop does not write down any instructions or orders for the projects and does give anything in writing to the customer. Not even an estimate or a claim check. If I was to do business with them again I would have a written itemized list of what I want be done for each piece and have them agree to it , sign it and indicate the estimated price.

Hi [member name removed], I'm sorry you were not satisfied with your second time around with Addison Upholstery. My name is Swan and I'm Daniel's youngest daughter. I have now been working here for two years since he is getting a bit older and wants to retire (kind of - he's a workaholic!) Your complaints seem reasonable - dad can be quite stubborn and sometimes he doesn't write things down because he thinks he can commit everything to memory. I think he replaced the padding and tightened the springs, but there might have been some orders lost in translation. Let me know if you still find the chair uncomfortable and we'll see what we can do to fix you up. Thanks for your business, Swan

They have good selection of fabric and their price is pretty reasonable. They are a family owned business and their daughter helped me pick up the right color of fabric. Their price and quality was fantastic.
Description of Work: I used Addison Upholstery few years ago. They recovered an ornament for me and fixed another chair. Right now they are fixing shower curtains for me.
