We have lived in our home now for 9 years. The system literally breaks at least once per year. Countryside told us that the system came with a combination of a lifetime warranty and 25 year warranty. The first time we had a problem, which was a year later, Countryside wanted to charge us literally $100s to replace a part. It was at that time we learned that our warranty was carefully worded so that it covers nothing of worth. I say that because we have replaced motherboards, pumps and aerators literally many times at our expense. Countryside were very unprofessional, rude and eventually unresponsive. We are once again searching for a company to repair our system. Other companies have told us that it was a poor install which is part of the problem and dont want to touch it. On searching on Angies list for a reputable company I was horrified to find Countryside listed. There are many companies to choose from, please save yourself money, headache and long-term trouble, and choose another company.
Description of Work: We used this company to install our septic system for our 6400sqft home. We also attempted to use them to repair and maintain it.

I have used Countryside Construction for the septic system. I have an annual contract with them and it is 249 dollars. They come out every 4 months and provide service to the system and make sure that it is running properly, that it is clean and that there are no issues with it. Then once a year they do a thorough cleaning and inspection of it. I haven't been able to find anybody else to do it for me at about the same price which I think is still high but that is the main reason I am still with them. They have been very good so far and I haven't really had issues. I would say it is very good, the experience, the only thing I think is that their price is high.
Description of Work: Every 4 months they come out and service it just to clean it and make sure that it is working properly and the last service was in February.

We signed up for a maintenance contract with CC or our septic system in November 2012 after purchasing our house. The ~400$ price was higher than I wanted but did not seem unreasonable plus they had maintained the system for the previous owners. CC identified that we had a pump issue that was preventing the service from working correctly and charged ~300$ to fix. I should add that I am somewhat handy but know nothing about septic systems. I don't remember the exact details, but shortly after writing both checks it was a struggle to get them to come back out after we identified that the system was leaking and keeping the front yard soaked with water (pre-dated our contract). They checked several underground valves and ultimately replaced one of the 'purple head' septic sprinklers in the front yard which fixed the leak issue. The service tech, Justin, came back out for the check in February 2013 and the service went from C to F. We had recently installed a fence and gates and called in the code to the gate lock, which is one of the letter/number combination locks you can spell words with. When he removed the lock it came apart on accident and he reassembled and locked on leaving (his admission). Unfortunately the letter/number combination was accidentally reset when he reassembled, so he re-locked the gate with an unknown combination. My wife called him after we figured this out and asked for the lock to be replaced with one of the same type (~10$) since we have multiple gates with the same combination. He proceeded to verbally abuse her over the phone and tell her the lock was "stupid". She called the main office to complained but one month later our gate is still locked shut and we have not heard back. This is worse than bad service, yelling at your customer over a 10$ request is a firing offense in my book.

This company is incompetent. Does not understand aerobic septic systems. They recommended new equipment that was not necessary. They never showed up on time for the scheduled maintenance and when we did call and remind them, it took them weeks before the maintenance was done.
Description of Work: Scheduled maintenance of our septic system. Supposed to be quarterly checks, which meant every 4 months??? Pumping of tank.

Couldn't be happier with the work that has been done. In all, we hired John to build a four season room from start to finish, including siding, beams, drywall , heated wood floor. His extra touches are spectacular! He built a frame around an odd sized outlet, made hand hewn looking beams and distressed them to match existing beams, created a built in alcove in an otherwise unusable space. Our front entrance is beautiful and again, he used his creativity to make them unique. We plan on rebuilding our garage and installing a cobblestone drive both of which we will hire John to complete.
Description of Work: We first hired John to complete a 4-season room that was started by another contractor who took our deposit and disappeared. John provided us with a fair estimate and his references gave him rave reviews. We could not have been more pleased with the beautiful quality of his work. He did what other contractors told us we could not do. He built a pitched roof, installed all wood surround, hand built beams, and created an overall incredible room that was far more than we could have imagined. Since completing that project, we hired John to rebuild our front landing. Again, we were given a great price of $2,000. He tore out the old concrete and built a gorgeous set of wood stairs with a rounded gradual landing at the bottom. The stairs completely changed the look of our front entrance. I would never use anyone but John for any project we plan in the future. He has even done very small jobs for us (rebuilt our fence gate) even though he was busy with other jobs. He is an overall great guy who is fair and does excellent work!

I got several estimates and his was very fair. He was the only contractor that understood what we wanted. He was the most conscientious contractor, came at 7am and left at 7pm. Everything was impeccable. He did great work and was a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: The first project was to enclose a porch to make it a four season room. The second project was rebuilding the front entry stairs. He also did small odd jobs around the house.

The new septic system we had installed in 2004 was not installed properly at first; three pumps were running continuously 24 hours a day due to not properly being wired. The installation process was extremely slow, it took nine weeks to get it installed and we had no septic system during this time. When we were due for our quarterly cleaning service we had to call them to remind them of our service contract. When they came, they were never on time and it did not seem like they cleaned what they were suppose to be cleaning. A few months ago, I tried a new service and found a noticeable difference in the work.
Description of Work: Late in 2004, we had a new aerobic septic tank installed into our home by Countryside Construction and they were to service it quarterly. The last time they came to clean it out, change the filters and check chlorine levels. They tested the overload in late 2005.

Response from Countryside Construction Inc
THE MEMBER STATED WE INSTALLED THE SYSTEM LATE IN 2004. OUR RECORDS SHOW WE OBTAINED SEPTIC PERMIT # 83755 DATED 11-14-2002 AND COMPLETED JOB ON 11-27-2002. IT TOOK TWO WEEKS TO INSTALL DUE TO HEAVY RAINS. THE TWO YEAR SERVICE AGREEMENT STARTED 12-03-2002 AND WE SERVICED SYSTEM EVERY 4 MONTHS UNTIL 12-03-2004 WHEN AGREEMENT EXPIRED AND WAS NOT RENEWED. THE ONLY COMPLAINT WE SHOW IN OUR RECORDS WAS ON 4-3-04. OUR SERVICE MAN FOUND PLASTIC IN SYSTEM. THE MEMBER WAS INFORMED AND PROBLEM CORRECTED. WE MAILED THREE NOTICES IN NOVEMBER TO THE MEMBER THAT SERVICE WAS TO EXPIRE 12-3-2004. A LETTER WAS SENT TO COMAL COUNTY AND TO THE MEMBER ADVISING THEM THAT THE SERVICE CONTRACT HAD EXPIRED. THE MEMBER APPARENTLY OBTAINED SERVICE WITH ANOTHER COMPANY THAT EVENTUALLY WENT OUT OF BUSINESS IN 2005. WE HAD NO CONTACT WITH THE MEMBER AFTER 12-03-2004. THREE PUMPS RUNNING CONTINUOUSLY WOULD INDICATE WATER RUNNING CONTINUOUSLY INTO SYSTEM AND THE PUMPS WERE DOING THEIR JOB. WE HAVE NO RECORD OF THIS PROBLEM BEING REPORTED IN OUR SERVICE RECORDS FOR THIS MEMBER. WE HAVE A SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERSON THAT KEEPS ACCURATE RECORDS OF EACH SERVICE CALL, THE DATE DISPATCHED, AND WHAT WORK WAS DONE. ANY COMPLAINTS ARE RECORDED AND KEPT IN CUSTOMER'S FILE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS MEMBER'S FILE AND THE DATES COMMENTED ON DO NOT MATCH OUR RECORDS. WE ARE VERY SORRY FOR THE MISUNDERSTANDING.
