I usually dont do reviews but Wow! what an experience or should I say lack of mechanical small engine, customer service and attention to detail experience. Brought in a Dixie chopper to have the engine rebuilt which cost around $4,000.00 and took 4-5 months to get it back. Had to bring it in again to have an oil leak fixed which they missed which took almost 3 weeks to fix. When I picked it up today I noticed it was leaking again. Rickey tightened a hose clamp which he thought would take care of it but it didn't. Got it back to the shop and found a puddle of oil in the trailer. The reason he did see the oil leaking out of it is because it was stored outside in the tall grass and not inside which I first requested it be stored. If you want to spend a lot of money for shoddy work that did not meet the customers expectation then have your work done here. I'll be calling another company who care about their customers to have it professionally repaired.

On May 24th, 2013, I took my 83 year old mothers riding lawnmower to this repair shop to be fixed as the steering was not working and the starter was out. I was quoted a price of $150.00 for a new steering system and used starter. I was told by an employee named Paul that it would take about a week to complete it. After 2 weeks I called up there to find out why I had not heard from them and I was told the wrong parts had been sent. The new parts were on the way. I asked them to please put it back together and I would be up there to pick it up. As I was leaving the house, Paul called us and said he wanted to make it right, to let him complete the steering and he would not charge us labor. At the end of 3 weeks, I went up there and tried to find out what was going on. Leslie said that Paul neglected to take apart the steering system, therefore the wrong parts were ordered. She said she had most of them in but 1 bushing. She quoted a price of $155.00 not including the price of the small bushing. We told her to go ahead and complete. On June 19th, 2013, we were called and told the cost of the steering system was $248.34. To pick up our mower and never come back. When we arrived to pick up the mower, they were rude, unprofessional and threatening. The started was never replaced and they did additional work that we did not authorize but were charged for. I paid them what they originally quoted,$155.00. I will never go back to this business nor would I recommend this to anyone seeking to get their small engine repaired.
Description of Work: My riding lawnmower had a steering problem and a problem with the starter. They quoted me one price and charged me another.

Rickey Fortner, owner of East Texas Tractor & Small Engine Repair (Canton, TX), agreed to rebuild the Briggs & Stratton motor of my riding lawnmower and said it would be ready within 2 weeks, but it took him over 2 mos to finish the job. I then had to take the mower back to his shop TWICE (and pay additional charges) because it broke down after using it for under an hour each time. I finally took it to a different shop and now it works fine. I was very disappointed by Rickey Fortner's unsuccessful results and failure to guarantee his work.
Description of Work: Riding lawnmower motor was rebuilt. Results unsuccesful. Mower broke down TWICE - both times within one hour after repair.
