I have had several houses built or remodeled and have worked with many contractors. Every single one has returned my call no matter how busy they were. I have left several messages and Internet inquiries with Rumfield over a couple of weeks. I have never received a response from them. They refuse to return my calls. This is disrespectful and completely unprofessional. I will not refer any business to them and I recommend anyone to look elsewhere.

Robbie Rumsfield, one of the company owners, is a very professional appearing salesman. He said his company was a family owned, second generation insulation and drywall insulation company who works all over northern Texas. I had gotten three bids and his was the middle bid. Unfortunately his company's workmanship was terrible and I wish I never hired him. I am a general contractor with 20 years of experience building houses in other states. I had built a duplex to house ranch employees on a property my son owns. I hired Rumsfield to specifically spray insulation to fill the bays and all drywall to be screwed, not nailed. Rumsfield said "no problem" to all my requests. It appears that Rumsfield hires various subcontractors to preform work under his company name... at least this was the case for my job. The drywall hangers were terrible. Worst I've seen in a long, long time. There were large gaps in between the drywall sheets. In one instance the drywall did not overhang the top of the fiberglass shower flange. Only about 25% of the job was screwed, the rest was nailed in direct contradiction to what I had ordered and Rumsfield had agreed upon. After the first hour the job started Rumsfield left and never showed up. I called him at various times about the poor quality of work and he gave me the standard lines about screws only needed to be in the center of the sheets, nails were the "standard" in Texas, etc. etc. The sprayed insulation did not fill the bays as required in approximately 80% of the job as was required. In some places they overfilled bays and had to scrap out the insulation. The drywall hanging crew showed up with the insulation crew and began hanging drywall immediately after the insulation was sprayed on. Clearly such practice covers up the ability to inspect the insulation for workmanship. Because insulation and drywall/sheetrock nailing is not inspected in many rural areas of Texas, Rumsfield's hanging crew did a substandard job of nailing and screwing. Often there were 12 to 14" gaps between nails...industry standards call for screws/nails 6" on edge and 8" in the field, to property secure the drywall. Rumsfield's work failed to meet these minimum industry standards regardless of inspection requirements. Because I was supervising other projects and was waiting for Rumsfield to show up on the job as he promised, but never did do, I did not discover the substandard nailing until the tapers arrived the next day. I called Rumsfield again who again gave me the stand line of he's been doing work for years, never had any complaints, it will be alright, etc. etc. Along with the poor quality of hanging, substandard and wrong nailing, the crew made a huge mess. They threw soft drink cans, lunch wrappers, and half eaten taco shells in three piles in front of the duplex. I had a dumpster about 40' away which they were too lazy to use. They also went out of their way to throw small pieces of drywall out the windows and front door, up to 50' away. They just did not care. I complained to Rumsfield who told me it was standard practice to have a dumpster at the job site. I told him I did but he did not respond. I had to clean up their mess. Rumsfield never spoke to them about cleaning up their mess. You should think twice about having such crews working in or around your home or business. When the tapers showed up, another subcontract crew, I showed them the poor nailing but they just shrugged their shoulders. I asked if they had any drywall nails and they did not. They called Rumsfield who told them to go ahead and try to improve the nailing.... but they had no nails. Fortunately, or unfortunately I found a place where the hanging crew spilled a couple hundred nails in my driftway area. We were able to pick them up and I, along with two tapers, I nailed drywall for the next hour and half. The tapers then filled and tapped joints. About half of the outlet boxes were cut too large and had to be tapped. The hangers did not finish hang the closets doors and one of the wash machine areas. The tapers said they couldn't fix the problem. Rumsfield would not answer his phone. I had to trim these area with wood after the drywall work was finished. This was my fault for catching the problem but I really should not have to. The texture guys showed up the next day and textured the ceiling and walls... plus the windows...plus the floor...plus the door frames...plus all the plumbing... another poor job and made a mess. I would have stopped the job after the first day but I was under a deadline to finish this building in a few weeks. I made the conscious decision to keep the job moving because to delay it and deal with Rumsfield would have put me over a deadline and cost me thousands of dollars in rent. But my problem should not be yours which is why I am detailing the facts about what occurred on this job. Rumsfield did show up early for his payment at the end of the job. I paid him in full but feel compelled to warn any potential clients of my experiences with such poor and substandard workmanship. I would have never let this happen if I wasn't in a bind to finish the project.

I received a prompt initial response. The lady in the office was pleasant and courteous. I tried to set two separate appointments, needing an afternoon appointment because of my work schedule. The first day was for 1 p.m. Their employee called that day at 11:30 and said he was coming. I left work immediately and told him I would be home in 30 minutes. He never showed. After calling the office to find out what happened, she told me that he went on to another job. I rescheduled for noon the next day. The same employee called at 8:30 in the morning to say he was coming. There was no way I could leave work at that time. I told him to forget it. I understand that they probably have a hectic schedule, but I also have obligations and they should insist that their employees keep appointments or at least give a time frame.

When I originally called Rumfield's Drywall it was during business hours and their answering machine picked up. I left my message & waited for them to call. When they didn't return my call, the next day I called them back. I mentioned that I had left a message & the woman who answered the phone had no reply or apology. I told her what I wanted & she had me call someone else. We set up an appointment, he said that he would be here Friday morning & would call before he arrived. When he didn't show up by 1:00 I called & left him a message telling him he had missed his appointment. He did call back, had an excuse & offered an apology. He said he would come on Monday but I told him I would call another company.
Description of Work: They didn't perform any services because they didn't show up for the appointment.
