 + 1 moreEverything went extremely smooth. Workers were on time and polite. They were very helpful and explained what needed to be done and how it would be done correctly. They even hauled away things we were needed to get rid of that weren't part of their clean up duties. A very professional crew did an excellent job.
Description of Work: Tore out old laminate countertop, replaced sink and faucet, cut down bar and prepared for granite, tiled backsplash, moved all appliances and reset them. Textured, taped and painted where needed after things were in place. Installed 2 light fixtures, installed bath accessories and cleaned each day.

 + 4 moreThis was not the first time we've used H Bond Construction. As always, they showed up when they said they would. In the past, they've remodeled our kitchen, built a covered patio, and remodeled our upstairs bathroom. Each time, they've been on time or early in completion and at or under budget. Like on previous occasions, nobody showed up unannounced, and any time a new crew came to the job site, someone at H Bond was there to introduce them to us. They are painstaking about being as non-obtrusive as possible and they clean up at the end of each day's work. We have always been pleased with their work and their willingness to work with us on the particulars of the project. Much of the improved value of our home is due to their fine work, and home has become a much more enjoyable place to be. Howard Bond seems to be quite particular about the kind of folks he subs some of the work specialties out to. These are people who enjoy their work and take obvious pride in the outcome.
Description of Work: Multiple repairs and installations. Crown moulding, wood floor trim, quarter round trim, plumbing repair, re-stretching carpet, installed a porch light, interior painting, etc.

 + -1 moreHe is very personable and we said a contract with him and he said it was going to be six weeks and just this week we had canceled the contract because no boy ever called us, so we had to start all over again and we had to do it our selves and since we are 86 and 87 it was a little beat difficult. We did receive a quote. Just yesterday was the time we talked to him since July the 21st. There location and they were on Angie's list. Mr Bond was a nice person he really seems to know his job but he turned our contract over to his brother in law or somebody and we never had from him.
Description of Work: We selected another provider and the did not come through. They said they could come in six weeks and they came after thirteen weeks and we never had a phone call or any thing. He came out for a roof repair.

 + -1 moreThe workmen arrived right on time. They protected the floors all the way from the front door into the bathroom. I appreciated that very much. Removal of the shower doors and installation of the grab bars was done properly. They were pleasant and cleaned up after themselves. There were stains along the front edge and sides of the tub surround underneath the removed frame. Not surprised at that. One of the men called a cultured marble company and found the best way to deal with it was to buff it out. Nice of him to call for me. The next morning I discovered the caulking they used to fill the holes left from the door frame removal had shrunk. I called Lori and she said they would fix it. Howard Bond was scheduled to come out for a remodel estimate on another bathroom within a couple of weeks. She said he would do it then so I went ahead and paid the bill. The bill states it is due on completion. And states and quot;All work is complete!and quot; When he got here he said he wasn't going to fix the holes, I should have the buffers do that. He was right here. It would have probably taken maybe ten minutes to do it. So I guess they're not going to finish what they started. Sad. I hired them based on reviews here on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Removed sliding glass shower door. Installed two grab bars which I provided.

The owner came with the crew to make sure that everything started correctly, so I liked how he supervised the work and was actually there to make sure the job was handled properly. They were clean and neat. They cleaned up behind themselves, which is always appreciated, they didn't tear up stuff and not care about the mess they made but cleaned up well after themselves. The workers were very, very professional and courteous. They finished within the timeframe that they said, so they finished the job on time. The work they did was fantastic, I did ask them to quote me on another job and they never got back after that. I had looked into several companies, they were the most reasonable, and they priced the work well. They did a very good job, which is why I was shocked that they didn't call back for another job. The person that managed this job was very responsive. They did have to reschedule once but they called promptly to make sure I was aware that they wouldn't be there on the first scheduled date. They were very professional for the job that they handled. I want to use them but they haven't responded back and I am not sure what happened there.

 + -1 moreFrom Beginning to end everyone was professional and responsive. Bond has an excellent relationship with his workers and contractors. Both he and his wife were very helpful in our decision making process. The project began with painting the interior, including repainting a large section because the paint I chose was way TOO pink. They repaired several sheet rock areas that had been damaged over the years. Shored up a set of sagging cabinets and replaced wood returns that had been chewed by faithful dog , Panzer, when she was a pup. Replaced all carpeted areas with engineered vinyl and add painted shoe molding where needed. The painters, floor layers and carpenters where polite and friendly. They were competent and speedy. Great job. You get what you pay for.
Description of Work: Repaired several areas of sheet rock and would in out 18 year old house. Painted 80% of the interior. Replaced 75% of flooring including flooring on stairs.

 + -1 moreThis company was the only one of five companies I called who returned my call!! They were friendly, professional and had someone out to give us an estimate in about 2 weeks, maybe sooner. They came out about 3 weeks after we agreed with their estimate. They showed up to work when they said they would. During the work we just left the door to our house unlocked and they came according to their time frame. When we happened to be home while they were working they took time to stop and talk to us, explaining everything and answering our questions. If we did have any questions someone always answered the phone or returned our call, their customer service is impeccable. During construction one of the workers stepped on the ceiling fan that had been taken down and set on the floor, it was not usable after that. We picked out a new fan, bought it, and installed it, they deducted the price of the ceiling fan from the total bill. A couple pieces of the trim work were not straight after being nailed back on and a couple of pieces were not nailed well enough to stay on. But, that is picky stuff. The job went well and we were very satisfied. H Bond has our recommendation.
Description of Work: Took down the remaining parts of a partially collapsed ceiling in our game room and the trim, fortified the ceiling frame work that had contributed to the dammage, replaced the ceiling dry wall and trimwork, painted the ceiling.

Description of Work: I recently purchased a home and some ridge shingles had blown off due to the recent high winds.  + 0 moreMr. Bond came out to do a walk through so he could give an estimate, and he arrived right when he said he would and I got my estimate right when he said I would get it. We scheduled a time to start and the crew was there exactly when they said they would be. The guys were great about covering the floor and furniture in the rest of the house to protect it from construction dust and were careful to not let the dogs and cats out. They made sure to have functioning facilities in at least one of the bathrooms during the entire process, which was really nice. The job took about a week longer than they originally planned, but that was because they were waiting on a counter top. They made sure to keep me informed of any delays and any issues. The final product is awesome - both bathrooms look really great. I will call them when it is time to redo my old kitchen.
Description of Work: I had 2 bathrooms completely remodeled. They stripped everything down to the studs and sub floor and then created 2 beautiful rooms. This included sheet rock, painting, wall texture, plumbing, tile, counter tops, light fixtures, etc.

In a couple of days, I emailed them to see when the work could be scheduled but I found when I dropped by the house later that day that it had already been done. The whole affair was professional and very straight-forward.
Description of Work: The job was to do a roof repair on damage caused by to a rental house I lease. A large tree limb fell onto the edge of the second story roof. The facia board, drip edge, and shingles were replaced on the second story roof where the damage occurred.

 + -1 moreH Bond Construction was very responsive to phone calls and emails from the start of the bidding process to completion, unlike many of the other companies I tried. Their price was significantly lower than ALL four other companies I had give bids. In addition, they worked with me so that I could provide the materials and they did the labor. The whole job was done in a day. I was gone all that day, so I left in the morning and came back in the evening to a new roof. The whole process was painless, and I would use them again in a second.

 + 0 moreI would recommend seeing an installed example. It would help in making the decisions. But I am very happy with the choices I made, though some might want a longer tub. My walk in is about five inches shorter and four inches narrower than the old tub, and there are longer and wider designs available. In a large city you may find the tub you want in stock. We had to order mine, and it took about two weeks to arrive. When the tub delivery man arrived in town he called me. I immediately called Mr Bond, and the workers and the tub arrived at the same time. They moved furniture around to make temporary room for the tub, and to prevent any damage to furniture in moving things in and out. And they put things back just where they were when they were through. I was very satisfied with the whole process.
Description of Work: They installed a walk-in tub-shower. Replacing the old cast iron tub. Mr Bond came to my house and we discussed several alternative tub designs, and choices of add on's, and the pro's and con's of using them. He recommended a door which opened inward, since the water pressure would be pushing the seal tightly, rather than pushing against the seal. He furnished all the necessary safety bars. The workman were skilled and efficient, and were very careful to keep from harming the bathroom. And they cleaned up well when they were through.

Description of Work: Complete roof replacement and kitchen repair where there was water damage: Repair/replace shelves in cabinet above range, and replace vent hood which was damaged from leaking. We tried to get 26 years out of a "20 year" roof... Bad decision! Texas weather will bite you every time! LOL The company owner came out two days after our first contact; climbed all over our roof, showed us and explained how badly degraded our current roof was. Not rocket science; just plain talk that any dufus could understand, then discussed our options. We decided on their 30-year shingle roof, showed him the kitchen damage, and received an estimate via fax the very next day. Frankly, we remember what the last roof cost; and were pleasantly surprised by the "whole job" estimate we received. Of course we said, "Can you start yesterday?" The roofing crew arrived at 0800 on 25 May, and disturbed peace and tranquility until about 1600 that afternoon. The kitchen crew arrived around 1300, and made sawdust and splinters for a couple of hours. It seemed to be an orchestrated event! By 1600, they were finished; cleanup was absolutely that! Not a scrap or nail left to be found... Like they had never even been here; except there was a beautiful new roof, and a range cabinet/vent hood that worked again. Would I use these guys again? Absolutely! In fact they just finished a "wind wall" on our back deck.(06/14/11). Same professional approach, same professional result...
