These home improvement upgrades will pay for themselves in energy savings and then continue to save you money as long as you live there. Energy tax credits for solar ventilation are available through 2016, We have extensive construction experience and have a proven track record of installed clients. We will be happy to give you customer references.
The radiant barrier we use is made from 99% aluminum foil and is 95% reflective - the highest reflectivity available. It is non toxic, has no fumes or off gassing and will not have to be reapplied over time. It can reduce your attic temperatures up to 40-50 degrees in the summer months and keep the heat from escaping during the winter months. We engineer our installations for each home to maximize air flow and heat reduction.
We offer fiberglass blown in and batt insulation. We use premium insulation - Johns Manville Climate Pro. It has a lifetime guarantee against settling and does not deteriorate like many products. It is made from 25% recycled glass products and contains no formaldehyde. We also offer insulation removal services for fires, floods or contaminated insulation.
The third component is ventilation. Solar fans are excellent because they actively remove hot air and moisture from your attic without using any electricity. They are extremely quiet and can withstand brutal Texas weather. We use Solar Royal solar fans which is Texas based company and they have up to a lifetime warranty for residential use.

Description of Work: Our home was evaluated for attic fans - solar fan or electrical fan with thermometer. Although we spent a little more with additional attic insulation in our 30 year old home - the work done by this company was efficient, clean, courteous and professional. On time and within budget. We opted for the gable mounted fan with thermometer which when temperatures in the attic reach a certain pre-set mark, the fan will come on - not just run whenever the sun is out. The fan is quiet as stated by Mr. Elliott. We are pleased with the guarantee, the cost, the cooling in the attic and look forward to hopefully lower cooling and heating bills this year. The attic will certainly benefit from less heat this summer in San Antonio!

We interviewed two other companies that did the foam insulation, and they were really happy to start the bidding process, but once you asked them questions, or talked about the rebates that you were to get from the Government, you would never hear from them again. Energy Attic was the first company that not only started the bidding process but also followed through with it. They filed all the paperwork with the City of Austin. They sent all the paperwork that we needed to file with our taxes and for all the rebates in email form. All I had to do was print it out, which was very convenient. We were a good 16 inches short on our blown in insulation in the attic, just because the house was 10 years old, and the insulation had settled. Our electric bills were just sky rocketing. This was also necessary because of all the new things that Austin Energy had passed for the rebates. Moreover, in order to sell our house, we needed to pass the energy audit. My husband was searching online and had talked to some people at work, and I’m not a 100% sure between the two of those which one was the way he came by Energy Attic. He was also doing it in conjunction with which company Austin Energy would approve to do the work. They just finished the job a few weeks ago. The cost was $5000 ballpark figure but we will be getting about $2000 back from the Federal Government stimulus and tax credits and Austin Energy rebates. We notice the difference a lot not so much during the day, but during days when it is cooler outside, it is definitely cooler in the house than usual. At night, when the air conditioner just catches up, it feels a lot cooler. I’m still not ready to turn the air conditioning down during the day mainly because my bill was $850 last month. I keep telling the electric company that there is someone plugging in somewhere or there is something draining electricity somewhere, somehow. There was no way a 3500 sq. ft. house would pull that much electricity. That was the biggest basis for us to find someone to come in and try and insulate the house better. While they were here doing the work two weeks ago, one guy said that we do lose heat through the flooring, and so they are going to do the basement as well. During the winter, since we have tiled floors, the floors do get cold, and hopefully putting that radiant barrier in the bottom will maintain the heat and not allow the heat to seep through the ground. We have not gotten a bill from Austin Energy yet to see if it has dropped any, and since it has rained so much in the last few weeks, it is going to be hard to say that the bill has dropped because their product is really working.
Description of Work: We used the services of Energy Attic to do the radiant barrier and add insulation in the attic. We are having them do the basement as well. One of the things that they did was to redo the strappings on the duct work because the duct was not hung properly. It was sagging and so it was not very efficient. They put some insulated material that was almost like aluminum foil, but thicker, across the rafters in the attic for better insulation. They built some kind of tent around the opening into the attic to keep the air conditioning from pushing into the attic when we open it, or all the heat from going into the attic during the winter. They blew in a lot of insulation because we were way below where we should have been.
