Description of Work: Built flagstone patio. The first patio lacked the quality I had wanted, so it was completely replaced.

Description of Work: Hired Blades of Glory to install six block flower beds around six trees in my back yard and create a foot and half block border around the back yard fence which was about 47 feet with river rock. They created a block edging in the front driveway with river rock to prevent an erosion problem we had. The job also required two tree flower beds and a flower bed in front of the house to be corrected since the blocks for all three flowers beds were becoming loose. Johnny and his crew showed up early each morning and worked for three days to complete the project. The second day the temperature hit 98 degrees but the crew just continued to do steadily work throughout the day. The results of the project were outstanding. Johnny and his crew are very professional and do fantastic work and I will hire them again for any landscape needs.

Description of Work: Laid flagstone to enlarge patio & created walkway thru backyard that ended up looking like a giant letter Y enlarged driveway w/flagstone(crew tried but it was obvious they were not experienced). One side was rounded, the other square . Johnny was rarely present at the site & when he was we felt he was too busy to really listen to our requests. He often asked our advice rather than offering original ideas. I requested ONLY plants that would not freeze. He seemed unsure of many he planted & as a result we lost approximately 1/3 of what he chose. The verdict is still out on 2 $200.00 fir trees he planted. Although I would NOT use him again, his crew was extremely hard working & worked very hard in 100 degree weather. Perhaps they should start a company, after all they were helpful & dependable. They at least showed up when Johnny did not.

Description of Work: They did everything from the planning, the preparation, to the final layout. They told me all I had to do was water, which I did, and my new yard is thriving.

Description of Work: The two workmen cleared the underbrush from the back of the lot. They worked all day and and finished in time to haul off all the brush. An excellent job and they were very friendly and cooperative.

Description of Work: They totally removed about 10 large shrubs and trimmed all frost damaged plants. They cut a branch from a medium size tree and divided a big blue yucca and planted the pups.

Description of Work: While we chose another vendor to complete the work, the Blades of Glory team attended the initial meeting and provided a reasonable cost estimate quite promptly. A very professional team.

Description of Work: Front, back, and side yard landscaping. River rocks in front. rocks on one side. Beds in the back. Really pleased from estimate to completion of work. Always explained everything. We took a long time to find these guys. Had many estimates and went with them. If we get around to the crushed granite and flagstone paths we will use them again.

Description of Work: They were extremely un-reliable scheduling and corresponding and didn't show for my service twice.

Description of Work: I initially contacted Blades of Glory shortly after purchasing the Big Deal. Our first consultation was on April 11 and I received the estimate on April 21. The voucher I had purchased was for 15 hours of landscaping but there was no way to know how that was being applied. One line item was "Install 3 yards of small river rock in gardens to the left of porch and underneath love seat." with a price of $300.00 attached to the line item. So is the $300 for materials or for labor? There was no way to tell based upon the written estimate. I had several questions on the initial estimate which I submitted to the owner on April 23. I received a response within a week but still no clarification on how the voucher was being applied. I submitted additional questions on April 28 and scheduled a second consultation for May 9. On May 6 they offered to redo the estimate and included this explanation on the pricing: "you actually receive the discount when you purchase the voucher. So, you pay just $599 for $1200 of labor, a discount of $600. Does that make sense? We actually include labor cost into the pricing of our estimates, so labor is already factored in." I continued email discussions with the service provider and they did try to address my concerns but the more I have thought about it, the more I have realized that I have no idea of whether I am getting the full value of my voucher (15 man hours of work). No where on any of the estimates did it indicate an approximate number of hours for each of the items. Although in my last communication I did indicate that I was willing to wait to have the work completed, I at least expected them to submit some dates so I could get them on my calendar. The last time I heard from them on May 31, they stated "I'll start looking at the schedule and pick out a date to see if it will work for you." And I have not heard from them since that date. I know the owner is young and is trying to get this business off the ground. I really liked him -he's personable and knowledgeable - but he needs to get better organized and be able to submit estimates that explain what the customer is receiving. Thank you.

Description of Work: I took the deal sent out by Angie's list for $500 for 15 hrs of landscaping It was an incredible deal. I really think they under bid my project as a crew of 4 were there all day long and never stopped. I had rocks moved to a different location, bushes removed with tree roots, top soil and sod laid , palms cut back, leaves raked and bagged and a new pathway for the rocks. Johnny Garcia is the owner and he is very amazing to work with. All his crew including Johnny are very professional and hard working. They cleaned up all the brush and hauled it away. I paid for the topsoil and sod.They were so efficient , they had already started by 8 am and never stopped until dark. My neighbor is now going to use them for his landscaping. I am verfy impressed with their service and work ethic and will definitely will use them again, and highly recommend them.

Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal through Angie's List. Johnny contacted me about meeting to discuss the work to be done. He arrived earlier than the agreed upon time. He discussed the job with me and provided an estimate of the work to be done.

Description of Work: Johnny came and made measurements and emailed us an estimate for installing sod to replace grass that had died in the drought in an area of our yard. We accepted the estimate and he came and sprayed the weeds in the areas to kill them. About 2 weeks later (delayed from the planned 10 days due to rain) he and his crew of 3 came and spread the soil that they had delivered after scraping the surface and sloped areas around sidewalks and driveways. The next day they put out the 11 pallets of zoysia they had arranged to be delivered, watered it and rolled it. He had overestimated the sod needed so they installed that (in other areas we had not planned to sod) according to our wishes. He gave us instructions as to how to water for the next 2 weeks. Johnny was very accomodating and very professional and I would not hesitate to recommend him. His crew also worked hard and to high standards.
