I knew my unit was bad, he lied to me and said that he would have to charge it up and check it again. We ended up having to wait another two weeks without any air conditioning in the middle of the summer. He tried to charge me again when they had to come out a second time. They are a bunch of rip off artists. They were trying to get me to remove the attic stairs so that they could get the upstairs unit out, even though the unit was still in warranty. They tried to tell me that my unit was no longer manufactured, that was an absolute lie - it was even still in warranty! They lied about several things while they were at my home. They even tried to charge me for code violations, and we're not even in the city. Totally avoid them at all costs!
Description of Work: You pay $60 for any kind of maintenance call. Any kind of costs/charges for the job is paid by my home warranty company.

Neither Fred or his office called me back. The receipt that he gave me for the service call had a disconnected phone number on it, so it took me some time to find his new phone number. Apparently his office had moved. I finally got ahold of his office after a couple hours of trying, and finally finding Fred's cell number on my caller I.D. His office person had already spoken with American Home Shield, and off course they had declined coverage. I asked her what the estimate would be to repair the fan motor, and she said that they are unable to get parts for my heat pump (a Frigidaire) and could not service it. So, I was now out a service call charge, 3 days of no air conditioning, and needed to start over. I blame this partly on Triple S for poor service, and partly on AHS for sending out a contractor that was unqualified to repair my heat pump.
Description of Work: American Home Shield sent this contractor to service my heat pump. The fan had quit running, and of course was not cooling. Fred Skinner, the owner checked out my heat pump, and found that the fan motor was burned out, and would need replacing. Apparently, a snake had crawled into the fan blades, killing itself, and the fan motor. He said that he didn't believe that AHS would cover the repair, due to "pest" damage. I asked him to double check with AHS, and if they would not cover it, please determine the price for Triple S to repair. He said that his office would get back to me the following day with the answers. Fred did no repairs on my heat pump, although did replace a capacitor before determining that was not the problem.

This work was performed by Triple S, but they were contracted by home warranty company to fulfill a warranty request. The initial installation went well, but I later found out that some of the work was not up to code. I made a call to the city inspection office to verify the work, but was not aware that once they come, they create a claim against the suspect company. The inspector confirmed the list and found several other code failures including no permit on file with the city to perform the work they did in my home. I called Triple S to explain what was happening and the person commented "we have been doing it that way for everyone else for years" to which I commented "but that doesn't make it right, does it?" I explained that I would have come to them first to give them the opportunity to correct the suspect code violations had I known contacting the city would have put them under the gun. In the end, it was probably best for the city to know to first to give my list validation. You can argue the company did not intentionally install the items up to code, but by not doing so is violating rules in place to protect homeowners. They did come back out to correct the code violations and have been out once more on an unrelated issue.
Description of Work: Replaced outside A/C condensing unit and indoor blower unit.

...then was informed by my wife that family was coming to visit Friday through the Mothers Day weekend. I rang Fred back within 10 minutes of our previous conversation and received NO ANSWER and was transferred to voicemail. I left him a message requesting an earlier service date and explained the family visit situation. NO CALL BACK from Fred or anyone else at Triple "S". The agreed upon time for Saturday was between 12PM-4PM, Triple "S" NO SHOWED. Fred called and left a message on my voicemail at 1PM "No answer so I assume you're not home", we were in fact in the yard enjoying time with family. 30 days later and my A/C still isn't fixed! When is an APPOINTMENT an APPOINTMENT??? The home warranty company is the customer of your contractor NOT you the client!
Description of Work: Triple "S" was the subcontractor hired by my home warranty company American Home Shield (AHS) to repair my inoperative A/C units. I contacted AHS to begin the process on 24 April 07. Triple "S" sent out a technician who diagnosed my A/C system as needing to have the coolant servicing valve (rusted shut) and the compressor replaced. During the next service call another technician came out to replace the compressor though found that they had ordered the wrong compressor and it wouldn't even fit into my A/C unit cabinet. The next service call the technician replaced the compressor though "discovered" the coolant servicing valve rusted shut. When I pointed out that this condition was discovered during the initial service call I was told, "he didn't tell me." I was contacted by Fred, the manager/owner of Triple "S" a week later to say the valve was available could they come out and complete the work that Saturday. I agreed to the Saturday appointment...
