Our oven over heated or something during the cleaning process (don;t use this). The door locked and we had to turn off at circuit box and let cool down. We called ACA based on report in Angie's list. It turned out to be a switch in the rear of the oven that senses overheating failed and ACA replaced this switch. They did have to order the switch but came back the next day and completed the repair. Cleanup was great and the price was fair.
Description of Work: Repaired our oven -- replaced a switch in the rear which required that the oven be removed and replaced.

Allied Home Warranty sent this company out when we called because our heater was blowing cold air. They came out and looked at everything and told us it would be $1100 for a new compressor and valve. After they left I looked up ACA on Angie's List and saw a bad review from another customer who was told she had the same compressor problem!! I had a bad feeling about it, so I called another company for a second opinion. The new company came out and said all I needed was a new thermostat for $150! The reason the heat was cold was because the previous thermostat had been installed improperly and it was causing our air conditioner to come on. Everything works fine now! Also, the "valve" they said needed replacing does not even exist on the type of unit we have - he just made that up!! It seems that Allied Home Warranty and this company have a scam going on in my opinion and I'm glad I checked Angie's List and called for a second opinion!!!!
Description of Work: Came out after I called my Allied Home Warranty service and gave me a quote for $1100

I had to make a few calls in order to try to schedule service. 2 of the people I spoke with acted as though I was putting them out by calling. I scheduled the original visit & they could only give my a date the following week. I later called back to cancel because I wanted to work with an organization who could work me in sooner. When i called back, the woman I got was fantastic & worked me for the following morning. I advised I would be taking the morning off work to be at home & wait for the guy. Ultimately, by 11 they hadn't shown up, although they had estimated a 9-10 am arrival. I had to cancel. Based on the overall phone interactions, I'm not interested in working with them in the future.
Description of Work: Service response in the office is hit & miss. 1 of of 3 people I dealt with there were responsive & great. The other 2 individuals caused me to cancel the service & find another company.

I AM ONLY RESPONDING TO THIS ONE BECAUSE WE HONESTLY TRIED TO GET OUT TO HER HOUSE. I COMPLETELY RECALL THIS CUSTOMER. YES I DID SCHEDULE HER FOR THE VERY NEXT MORNING. WE CALLED HER PHONE 3 TIMES TO LET HER KNOW WE WERE COMING OUT AND TO VERIFY SOMEONE WOULD BE HOME AS WE DO NOT JUST DRIVE TO SOMEONE'S HOUSE WITHOUT KNOWING FOR SURE THEY ARE HOME. ALL 3 TIMES WE GOT HER VOICEMAIL THAT STATED IT WAS TOO FULL SO WE WERE UNABLE TO LEAVE A MESSAGE. WHEN SHE FINALLY CALLED US TO "COMPLAIN", WE EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND THEN RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM HER THAT "WE DID NOT TRY HARD ENOUGH" TO GET HER ON THE PHONE. UNFORTUNATELY WE ONLY CALL ANYONE 3 TIMES AS WE DO NOT WANT TO GIVE ANYONE THE IMPRESSION WE ARE "BUGGING" THEM. AS A COMPANY MADE OF PEOPLE THAT UNDERSTAND YOU HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN SIT AROUND WAITING FOR A TECH TO SHOW UP, WE ALWAYS ASK FOR A CELL PHONE AS WELL AS THE HOME PHONE. THIS WAY WE CAN CALL WHEN WE PLAN TO COME TO YOUR HOUSE. THIS ENABLES YOU TO GO RUN ERRANDS, GO TO WORK, LIVE YOUR LIFE. CONSEQUENTLY, IF YOU DO NOT ANSWER YOUR PHONE (HOME OR CELL), WE DO NOT GO TO YOUR HOUSE. COMPANY POLICY-HOWEVER YOU MAY LIKE OR DISLIKE IT.

Horrendous service. Absolutely ZERO respect for your time. My experience with ACA started off as a positive one. The owner was extremely helpful in persuading the home warrranty company to cover the air conditioner's condenser. After fighting with Allied and being told that I would have to cover (this is a whole other review) $850 worth of "non-covered items" plus a $60 deductible, ACA was scheduled to replace my outside (condenser) unit on a Tuesday morning. After waiting all day, I finally received a call from the tech and he showed up at 5:15 pm. Then an hour later, he actually tried to leave at dark (6:15pm). He said he couldn't see and needed a work light. So I offered him mine and he went back to work. Then, he needed to borrow allen wrenches because he broke his own. Fine. I lent him mine. I would not have minded lending whatever tools necessary if he would have actually finished the job. Unfortunately, he ran out of silver solder and left around 10pm without finishing. As he left, he promised to be back at 8:30am. The tech called at 8:45am the next morning saying that he needed to pick up parts and would be right over. After waiting until 10:30am, I called the company to find out where the tech was. The woman that answered the phone informed me that they had other service calls scheduled that morning and the tech would finish this job whenever those calls were done. Evidently, it is not ACA's policy to complete your work before moving on to other customers. He finally showed up at 11:35am and finished by 12:30pm. Giving ACA the benefit of doubt ... maybe they have better customer service when they are not working for Allied Home Warranty. To be fair, I only spoke to one person that was rude. The rest (including the owner) were anywhere from cordial to very helpful. There just seems to be quite a dichotomy in this company between the owners and the office workers/technicians. As for the actual work, everything appears to operate fine. Besides having to pick up the trash left behind and clean the burn mark off the outside of the unit from an errant torch, I guess I'm satisfied with the actual work that was done.

When I first contacted the company, the receptionist was friendly and willing to send someone to my home the same day. The technician who arrived to my home had to ask several questions to the main office in order to get the repair done. The next day, which was a Saturday, it was discovered that the ice maker, which had previously been working, was no longer working. I contacted the office and it was indicated that I would be one of the first customers on the list Monday morning. I called the office twice, and was informed that there was only one technician on for the day. I also received a call from the office and indicated that the technician was running behind for the day and I was also called when the technician was on the way to my home. At 4:00 p.m., the original technician arrived to my home and fixed the problem. He indicated that the ice maker's line was "kinked." (The reason it was "kinked" because he removed it in the original repair). He was not rude, but not exactly business like either. I would not recommend this company. Our friends who had the exact same repair performed was charged $100.00 for their repair.
Description of Work: Replaced overload and relay, repositioned back cover to help stop vibration.

He came over quickly if there was a problem with the system. They did what they told me they were going to do. He was very courteous when he was there working.

An outlet in the kitchen had stopped working and I went out outside to trip all the breakers, since none were labeled! In the process I tripped the AC breaker and evidently it didn't flip back to where the AC came back on. After returning into the house, the AC was blowing but I didn't notice it wasn't cool air. So, after going to lunch with several friends and all of us returning to my house for dessert and coffee, we walked into a somewhat warm house. I immediately called this company, as they'd done routine maintenance in the Spring to our satisfaction and we had their business card on the refrigerator. I was told someone would be there within an hour; the owner and his helper were there within 45 minutes!! They quickly determined what I'd NOT done with the breaker and only charged their $35 service fee. They could have told me anything and charged an astronomical amount and I'd have never known. The two times we've used them, they were professional, competent and the charges were realistic. My husband and I highly recommend this company!!
Description of Work: Within an hour after being called this company got our air conditioning running in mid-July with a house full of company. They tripped the breaker and checked the outside unit after I had mistakenly not retripped it correctly when trying to get another appliance to work on a kitchen electrical outlet.

I called on a Saturday and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday morning. I made the mistake of telling them my time was flexible since I would be home all day, so they scheduled other "more important" service visits in front of mine. By 4:30 that afternoon I had talked to them 4-5 times, gotten revised service visit time on each call, and still had not gotten a service call. They finally called a different technician who arrived at 4:45. I had to leave my house at 5:00 for an appointment. The repairman who came was polite and apologetic and sensitive to my time constraints. BUT, he did not call back with his estimate in the time frame he had promised. I finally had to call him to get his estimate. He gave me good advice on the repair and maintenance of my appliance--I felt I could trust his advice. But their lack of respect for my schedule leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
Description of Work: Refrigerated freezer not freezing. Checked to see what the problem was. Also checked my dryer, which was not heating well. Told me the dryer was heating, and suggested I could replace some elements myself. Told me he would call with an estimate on the freezer.

Guy was very quick to diagnose that it was the control board. We thought we had to buy a new fridge. Thank goodness we were able to get it fixed. He was on time and very good! We called him again for our dryer. That time we just ended up replacing the dryer. He is honest and professional.

Despite it being Christmas week, Chad and Chris came out and fixed the dryer within a couple of hours. They came out at 12:30 to assess the problem and were back at 2:30 with the new part. All told, it took about 20 minutes to do the repair. We will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Dryer stopped mid cycle. The thermal fuse was replaced and the dryer vent was straightened out and unclogged.

The ACA Appliance staff is very friendly. Chad was happy to answer questions as he worked. He showed me how to clean the filter myself in the future.

Very well. I was very sick that day and the microwave going out was the last thing I needed. Chad and his wife Dottie responded extremely quickly (same day service) and he fixed the microwave in no time.
Description of Work: I have used Chad many times already (before I learned about Angie's List). Last time I used him to repair my built-in microwave. He is fast, responsive, efficient and very reasonably priced.
