I requested for Joe to come over and replace a ceiling mounted LED light in my garage. He checked out the work that needed to be done, provided me with a reasonable quote to which I agreed. He purchased a replacement light and installed it. Everything was done in a short period of time. I would gladly hire him again!

The work was completed with no issues with workmanship; however the amount of time needed for each task was excessive. He charges a low rate per hour but takes a long time complete each task, thus, costing more.

Due to conflict in scheduling times, work was not performed.

He removed the windows scraped all the old chalk out. Then put studs in the holes to nail the siding to , and put up the siding and trim.Joe chalked primered and painted all the areas he worked on removing all trash. We were very happy with everything that he did. Excellant work and clean up!

I manage my own home and live out of state and I have used Joe on many projects. He gets the work done and gives reasonable prices. If its a job out of his expertise, he has recommended others that we have used (example plumbing work) and have been very satisfied with that as well. Joe is the person I call when repairs need to be done and have not been let down by him. My current tenants had so much positive feed back on him as well.

As a first-time home-owner, Joe was gracious enough to help me through a lot of tough calls and decision-making in my large-scale projects. He puts a lot of thought and effort in giving options and opinions. Even better, he helped me navigate what needed to be done and when, even going so far to recommend trusted contractors in areas of plumbing and electrical work. Joe is essentially a one-man crew that at times got apprentice help through friends on some jobs. Overall, I'd pay for materials and time for his work, and I would give money up front for materials that he would go get himself. Joe was able to keep updated records of what he had done for me and the amounts I paid in a useful excel document that he'd print out for me every couple of weeks or so. For jobs that he could easily estimate, he'd give me a price up front, such as for my flooring installation. Bigger jobs like putting up new interior walls was paid as work was done. Overall, his work was excellent. Joe does good work for a fair price, but he takes a long time for big projects. I'm a bachelor, so I didn't mind too much, but I'm sure having a wife around would have made things awful. He's a guy I could trust with my garage key, and as he puts it himself, he's a chatty to a fault.

Contacted Joe and he agreed to come over to provide an estimate between 0900-1000 and he stated he would give me call once on his way. He contacted me at almost 1100 stating he was not going to be able to make it but would be at my house either at 1630 or right after. I canceled a dinner because this project is extremely important to me. This guy finally called me at 1816 to ask me if I would be available the next day. I was hoping he would tell me he was on his way and not that he needed me to plan my weekend to accommodate his. Ridiculous!!! Never again. Useless!!!

True to his word. Called ahead of time. Showed up when he said he would. Job wasn’t the typical replacement of the door. He had to extend the frame and do some fabrication to make it fit. It now fits better than it ever did. He insulated around the door and caulked and put wood filler in all the nail holes. Him and his helper were friendly and pleasant to be around. Great job.

From first contact to the incomplete job, Joe took almost a month to do a two-day build. We had to rebuild a 2 foot by 2 foot and 4 ft. 6 inch high mailbox. Joe showed up sporadically and most often after 1 pm for weeks. He had many excuses for each time late if he showed up that day. We paid Joe almost $700 and my husband is going to have to complete the job himself. He did not finish and we finally fired him. Our first contact was on March 22nd and we finally had enough on April 19th. This seriously was a two-day job and turned into a circus. We paid him for his original quote plus more for materials needed during the job. He later told me that he had never built a mailbox before. We thought we were saving time and money by not having my husband do it but we ended up finishing anyway. We had previously spoken that we wanted Joe to do some extra things around the house but we don't have that kind of time and patience for the aggravation that would come with it. All in all, we were extremely disappointed. We wanted a reliable person to do a multitude of things around the house and we just could not get the project completed. He had rent to pay (that was why he was late), his truck broke down, the computer program wasn't working, and when we called him that final day, it sounded as if he was on another jobsite. Our job was not important to him it seems but the check was cashed fast enough.

Joe did a great job well use him again in the futrue.

Installation was timely and professional

Because of certain matters, I actually interviewed about 10-20 different contractors for this project before Scanlon's Improvement & Repair Service. Some contractors provided an approach whose cost outcome would amount to buidling a new house (really). Scanlon's approach was right on target and the price beat the others. This company was only a last minute inquiry off Angie's Listing. Hands down, Joe was the absolute best for my project. You will be surprised and very pleased. His attention to detail is artistic and rarely noticed in the industry. I loved the way he put things together in exacting detail. Very tidy; conscientious about my property; very respectful and responsible. He went beyond service and made it a point to be sure that my project was completed in satisfaction. Such piece of mind to find a contractor that you can trust to arrive, function with a really good knowledge base, be responsible to the project, and be on target with the plan. Joe is detail-driven, experienced in a full array of projects, and is clearly a comfortable go-to man. Piece of mind and satisfaction are hard to find. If he has a flaw it would be in his drive toward perfection and excellence. That excellence puts Joe in a niche. Unlike many contractors who appear to be clueless, Joe never left my house in a tornado and closed things to maintain security and stability. Joe was reliable in coming to work as discussed, actually doing the job right (!), and remaining committed to the project completion. My project took days to complete because of the enormity of the project (and my time frame). His price was very good and his approach on target. Scanlon was an absolute Delight to have on this job. I was So-o-o lucky that other contractors were so aloof and inept and that I did connect with Scanlon's service. Honest, trustworthy, competent, fair, reliable, responsible.

Joe does a great job and ensures job is done high quality. He'll go the extra steps to make sure it is done well. He is chatty , but explains in detail.

I contacted Joe Scanlon to give an estimate to remove debris from my client's house. When we had a set date for the removal I recontacted Joe and he came and removed the debris. I refer Joe to all of my clients who need home improvement services. I'm very selective when recommending services people to my clients and only refer people who I would feel comfortable with in my own home. He takes his time to make sure jobs are done right the first time.
