Not as well as I had hoped. It was a bit of a challenge coordinating a time/date for the estimate. He arrived with his wife and daughter - which I though was pretty cool and I was foolish to think that this added to his credibility (I'm a sucker for family businesses). The job was to clean the hot tub (gunnite), repair the cracks, paint the interior with a light blue epoxy and fix the mortar on the overflow feature that had been leaking. Total cost was $900. Reasonable price - I gave him $500 deposit to pay for all the supplies and as a sign of good faith and he was to start the work the following weekend (July222017). I was deployed, so was unable to oversee the work. He filled the crack, painted the hot tub with the blue epoxy - in the process not taping up the edging or covering the jets to the hot tub - then left the epoxy to dry uncovered - resulting in drops of epoxy on the hardware, poor edging and either the surface wasn't clean or material dropped in as the epoxy dried leading to lumpy, sharp bits. As you can see from the photos, the epoxy was applied inconsistently leading to undercovered areas and the hardware (drain grate) was not removed to epoxy those areas. A jet was also broken in the process. He told my wife that he would order a replacement piece and return to finish the job. The mortar applied was placed on top of the old and was obviously on top of the old with no attempt to protect the edges. She gave him a check for the remaining $500 foolishly confident that he would return to finish. . . When I returned two weeks later, I called him to inquire as to when he would be return to finish the job. He was waiting for the part to arrive - no problem, let me know when to expect you. I called another two weeks later - I was told that the part had arrived - he was just too busy to come finish. . . and was unable to schedule a date to complete the job. I offered to pay more money if it was an issue of material - I was simply eager to get this thing finished. He had provided estimates for other work - but I said we should finish one job before obligating to additional jobs. . . Two months after - I had began calling/texting him weekly to get a time/date to finish the details described above - at first I was sympathetic - as he reported that all his staff had "quit" - but when he stopped replying to my texts and voicemails - it became painfully obvious that he was not going to be completing the job. . .I left one final message saying that we can consider our job complete - and that I would be leaving a critical review on Angie's list and my wife would post a similar review on similar website. After an additional month - hoping that he would respond - I've posted this review. In retrospect - I was naive - there was no contract - and I considered a hand shake would be sufficient. Likewise, my wife paid the remainder of the fee despite the poor quality of the work provided. Live and learn! In conclusion - poor workmanship - lack of professionalism - I would strongly discourage anyone from working with this company and I will definitely not be seeking their services again. I'm more disappointed and embarrassed than angry - I would have preferred a happier ending.
