After remodeling our 20+ year-old kitchen and powder bath and searching Angie's List for a qualified plumber, I contacted James York with Southern Plumbing. James was courteous and professional and quoted me a price right over the phone. When we scheduled the work, James indicated his crew would arrive before 9:00am and David showed up right on time. David explained everything he was doing and offered some additional services at discounted prices. James arrived at our home mid-morning and helped David complete the remaining work. Both guys were extremely courteous, talked and walked us through exactly what they were doing and offered us different options when and where appropriate. There were no surprises and no haggling when it came time to settle the bill- I was charged exactly per the original quote. The next morning, we discovered one minor problem but a simple phone call to James is all it took to rectify the problem. He sent one of his plumbers right back out and the issue was resolved in less than 15 minutes. It's comforting to find people who still offer quality work at a fair price. I will definitely call Southern Plumbing for any all of my future plumbing needs.

My tenant complained that garbage disposal and bathroom hand sink drain plug were not working while I was out of town for vacation during Christmas holidays. Unable to look at the problems myself, I called Southern Plumbing for help. On the day of the service, I was expecting phone call to tell me estimate for repair. I did not get a call so I called the tenant. She said that a technician came and fixed the both problems and explained to her how to take care of the same problem in the future. I called James to ask how much I owed him. He checked with the technician who had performed the work. He told me that they were not big deal and took him only 5 minutes to fix both. So he did not charge anything. It is a big relief to have a honest plumber especially when I could not see the problems myself for one, and not many companies who did work and not charging even trip charge. I have worked with several plumbers in the past, however Southern Plumbing is the keeper. I truly appreciate their service.

He could not have been nicer, more helpful, or more professional.

First, back in September I contacted Southern Plumbing asking for some quotes on work around my house. The very next Saturday one of their plumbers, David, showed up -- on time! -- and after taking the tour, wrote a quote for me on each project -- including alternatives on some of the projects. It wasn't until December 10 that I decided to take the time off work and have one of the projects done -- replacing rusted pipes in the attic ($350). Again, David & Sergio were prompt (early even) and didn't waste my day. Then, I decided to have three other jobs done -- replacing a kitchen faucet, hoses, and the valves, stems & fittings in two bathrooms. David came by -- determined I needed to replace the entire faucet, and took one of the cartridges from the bathroom to buy two replacement kits. next day David, Sergio & a helper came (on time AGAIN) and all three projects were completed ($735) by 11 am. I really appreciated that when i called back to schedule the work, they knew exactly who I was, where I lived and what they'd quoted me. They also worked it out among themselves to get the work done as efficiently as possible. I'm really happy with this company and I'm glad ot know there's a plumbing company that I can trust.

I would give Southern Plumbing Services a good rating. They have been excellent every time they have come out. The last time he came out he fixed the problem and didn't charge me. When you are a customer they don't charge you for something so simple. They are prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable.

After we tried to clear our kitchen clog ourselves we realized that we were in need of a plumber. We had tried other plumbing companies in the past but were not satisfied with neither their services nor their prices. After checking Angie's List we decided to try Southern Plumbing based on the overall A rating that they received. We were not disappointed and can see why they were rated so highly. David arrived promptly the next morning and snaked and cleared our kitchen drain. We also had been dealing with a leaky upstairs toilet that was progressively getting worse, was too small and had caused costly repairs in the past from a different company. David described the problem gave us a reasonable quote to repair the toilet but said that because of the nature of the leak he could not say that it would not leak again. That was because that toilet was never installed properly and became damaged after usage. We appreciated his honesty because the price quoted for repair was a little more than the one for replacement. Our past experiences with the previous plumber was being charged over twice the amount for a repair that lasted for only about a year.. We had already decided we wanted to replace it with a "right height" efficiency model that we saw at Home Depot and told him that is what we would rather do. He then removed the old toilet and replaced it with the new one. He took care covering the stairs to avoid any leakage on our carpeted stairs. When finished with the job he completely cleaned his work area. The finished job looks good. David was very courteous, professional and provided excellent service. In the future we will have other plumbing jobs to do and we will definitely be using their services again. We highly recommend them.

My wife and I came home on a Saturday afternoon to find a steady stream of water flowing from the front of our house, down the driveway, and into the street. I looked and saw the water was coming out of the ground next to the pipes that bring the main line into the house and realized the pipe had broken beneath the ground. I immediately went to the water meter on the front lawn to shut off the water, but the valve (on the city side of the meter) was seized-up and wouldn't budge. I had to call the city of Sugar Land Water Department and, to their great credit, they got out there in about 20 minutes to shut off the water. Meanwhile, I called Southern Plumbing, who had done some excellent work for us in the past, and James called me back. He came out that Saturday evening to diagnose the problem, but, because of the type of materials needed for the repair, he said they'd couldn't do the complete repair until Monday morning. That was actually okay with us, though living without running water in the house for a day-and-a-half was pretty inconvenient. However, by having them do the work on Monday it meant that Southern Plumbing could do it at standard rates (not emergency/weekend rates), so the savings actually made it very worthwhile to wait. One of James' most experienced plumbers, Alfredo, arrived by 9:00 AM Monday morning and began the work, which involved quite a bit of digging down to the broken pipe. He also pulled all of the old piping and valves from the outside of the house and replaced them with new pipes and shut-off valves. He installed a flexible PVC pipe and brass fittings to allow for any movement of the foundation and ground around the connection. We suspect movement of the foundation is what caused the break in the line to begin with, so I was glad they decided to install pipe that would allow for some movement in the future (during droughts, etc.). The whole job was finished in under two hours and Alfredo did a very good job restoring the ground around the pipe and making sure there were no leaks. He also flushed out the main line from the meter to the house so there wasn't any of the sediment you sometimes find in your inside faucets after a plumbing job. He came into the house and turned on a few faucets to make sure everything was okay before leaving. Though I often do a lot of my own plumbing work around the house, this was a job beyond my expertise. I carefully watched the way Alfredo worked and realized he is a true expert at his trade. He's been with James for a lot of years and I think he's one of the many reasons for Southern Plumbing's success. I found the cost of the job to be very fair and reasonable, and a really good value for the quality of work performed. Southern Plumbing is the best and I highly recommend them for any/all plumbing needs!

I came home from a week-long work trip to find that the slight drip from my shower faucet (that I had planned on having fixed when I came back to town) had turned into a major stream of water. After reading through the reviews, I called Southern Plumbing. The man that answered the phone quoted me an estimate and sent out the plumber. David showed up in less than about half an hour. David was able to quickly decipher the problem and fixed it in less than an hour. It took quite a bit of hammering and work on David's end to get the home-build apart but he could tell that the person that I bought the condo from had done all of the upgrades himself and it seems as though he forgot, or did not know, to put in the rubber gasket in the cold shower handle. Then, I asked him to take a look at my toilet as there wasn't much water in the bowl and I was never able to get it to fill more. He spent about fifteen to twenty minutes working on it and not only filled the bowl more but tightened the handle and informed me that sometime in the next year or so I will probably need to head to Home Depot and get a total replacement kit as the items in the tank might need to be fixed by then. David charged me the estimate that I was quoted for the shower leak and did not charge me for the toilet bowl fix. He was very kind and took the time to explain to me the problems with both the shower and the toilet and to tell me what he was doing and what I should do in the future.

Overall, Southern Plumbing Services exceeded my expectations.

James is the owner of the company and he was great to deal with. The plumber that did the work did a great job and provided great service.

I have an older house that still had the original clay sewer line out from the house, and roots had begun to break through and clog the line. James came to the house the day after I called for a quote, and work began the day after that. The work took about two full days of actual work time (delayed a day or so by heavy rain). There were no surprises or add-ons with the final price versus the quote. I was able to use an Angie's list coupon to get a bit of a discount as well. I had been quoted a price by a larger company that was over fourteen hundred dollars more for the same work, so I'm glad I went with Southern Plumbing. I will definitely use this company again for any plumbing work in the future.

Discovered a large water leak by my water meter on a Sunday afternoon. I called James York at Southern Plumbing on Monday morning. He was very professional and sent a crew that afternoon repair the leak. I was very pleased with the promptness as I was paying for the water leaking into my backyard.

I guess they didn't want my business. Probably more interested in bigger plumbing jobs. I had a faucet with a slow leak in my townhouse rental. Wasn't really sure the exact issue - that's what the tenant reported. I live in Austin and rely on Angies List to find companies to do services for me. Never heard from them again after the first call. I'm sure these guys are good, and care about their Angies list feedback, but I would suggest another company for smaller jobs. Just made feel like the job wasn't worth their time. I ended up using Ron's Home Care.

I spent about $150 and then I got the 10% Angie’s List discount. It was a very positive experience. I would tell people that I really had a great experience. The people who came out were polite. There was a guy named David who was very polite too. He listened to what I had to say and he fixed the problem. Their price was fair. They were very responsive because I called and they were out which was wonderful. They were very punctual. They said that they would be here between 10 and 11 and they were here at 10:10. They were here when they said they were going to be here. They were very professional. I would definitely use them again in the future if need be.

What a great outfit. This is the second time we've called these guys. They've been fast, efficient, go above and beyond the call of duty. James repaired a leaky seal on one of our commodes, and then, since we just moved into this house, I asked him to take a look at all of the faucets, and tubs/showers, just to make sure we are in good shape. He did so, and I thought the charges were reasonable for all that he did, and the service very professional. I think it's hard to find good plumbers, for some reason. I highly recommend Southern Plumbing.

They did everything they said they would, and they put it at the right height for me because I am handicapped. They installed things for me that they had never installed before, and they did an excellent job.
