Certain aspects of the relationship we feel deserve extraordinary praise, including the following: Integrity ? A remodeling project is a significant investment for a homeowner and it is imperative to work with someone with integrity - someone you can trust. Working with a contractor you don?t really trust can create an angst filled and unpleasant experience. Our experience was, dare we say, fun. Instead of watching with anxiety we got to enjoy the experience of our dreams being fulfilled. Cooperation ? Starting with the planning meetings and continuing through the completion of the work, we felt like this was a collaborative effort to achieve our goals. We appreciated the ideas, input and feedback Larry offered during the planning process. It was apparent that his only concern was to help us achieve our goals with our budget considerations in mind ? in other words, to make us happy. It?s nice to work with a contractor whose is not mainly concerned with increasing the scope of a project and increasing the budget! Responsiveness ?We don?t think we have ever worked with a project manager (on construction or other services) who is more responsive than Robert Kirkgaurd at Larry Skelton Homes. He is always available; he returns phone calls immediately; he addresses issues and concerns right away; and he provides periodic status reports without being asked to. We can?t overstate how important this is to the homeowners on a significant project like ours. It was reassuring to see our questions and concerns addressed immediately and to see the follow-up from Robert to ensure concerns were addressed to our satisfaction. Making it Right ? In any project of this size, there are always a few things that for one reason or another don?t initially turn out just as the homeowners envisioned. In every instance Larry ?made it right? even if that meant redoing it. For example, when we weren?t thrilled with the way the stain color turned out on the hardwood floors, they sanded them down and started all over again. We can?t tell you how many times during the remodeling project we heard Robert (the project manager) say, ?I want to make sure you are happy with it? when referring to one of the various projects as it was completed. It wasn?t just lip service. Larry Skelton Homes really means it. Quality ? The quality of work the subcontractors do is excellent. The job was completed about three months ago and we are still very pleased with the overall quality of the work. We also appreciated that the subcontractors were friendly, polite and kept the worksite clean and neat. Billing ? Larry Skelton Homes didn?t request an upfront payment from us for materials. In fact we were surprised at how much work was done before they requested the first progress payment. We never hesitated making a progress payment because we always felt like they were farther ahead in work progress than they were requesting for billing progress. Paying ahead of
