They were good. He was probably better than okay. Their service was good but their price seems to be very high. The guy who was suppose to come and bury the box did a bad job. Eventually, the owner had to come back and did it. The initial job was okay because it did not leak, but they did not box corectly.
Description of Work: I used The Affordable Plumber. They replaced and fixed the external water line of the pipe for me.

I had called another big plumbing company and pre-scheduled an appointment. That plumbing company came by and gave me an estimate that I felt was a little too high. So, I called Bryan and he was able to come by promptly to look at my requirements and give me a quote. If the other plumbing company wasn't giving me an Angie's List discount, I would have had a $535 bill for the same work and warranty. Even with the discount, Bryan's estimate was still $36 lower. I believe in supporting small business locally, so I felt much better paying Bryan so he can support our local economy. But besides that, he did a great job. He was able to do the work the same day. He dresses appropriately, speaks intelligently and is a pleasant person to converse with - he explained everything he was doing, and it wasn't different than the other company's scope. And as far as his credentials, Bryan is a master plumber. He, too, will guarantee his workmanship for one year, so there's no reason to go to a 'big box' firm when you can get the same service with your local small business owner.
Description of Work: I needed an outside faucet off the kitchen sink area.

This was an elderly couple on my street, I went down to turn their water off, and I found Bryan on Angie's list. He responded very quickly and took care of the problem. They called him the next day when they couldn't keep their HOT water heater lit, and he needed to replace it. Bryan was very responsive and courteous, and according to this couple, he did an excellent job!
Description of Work: Tub faucet was broken and spewing water. Fixed it. Came back the day after and had to replace the HOT water heater. visit 1 = $155 visit 2 = $1600 (had to be brought up to code, etc)

I called twelve plumbers and only two even returned my call. One charged for coming out to do the estimate, and said they would apply the charge to the bill if they were hired. So then I would have been at the mercy of whatever they quoted or lose the $50 estimate cost. This man was the only other one who answered the phone so those were my two choices to fix this leaking outside faucet. The quality of the work is unknown; I can only see the faucet, not the work done in the wall. He literally drove right over and did the repair, either to his credit, or due to a lack of work. I thought the price of the hose bib was absolutely ridiculous. He first quoted $250, plus $75 if anything extra was needed. I protested and he came down to $220, but then of course he said there was a problem and so he added the $75 on. He said the pipe broke in the wall and he would need to open up the living room walls to fix it! Drywall, painters, a huge mess in the house - or a small hole in a brick - I said absolutely not, fix it from the outside. He had it fixed shortly, so I can't imagine what the need was for the extra $75 for a little extra piece of metal where he said the pipe broke off, or what he was thinking when he suggested opening up a wall! I think the price was terribly inflated for a few minutes work, and I am sorry to say I did not trust his diagnosis - the problem, the extra charge, and the suggestion of a much larger repair solution was just too convenient.

Response from The Affordable Plumber
Customer called and said she had a leaking hose bib. Yes we showed up quick due to her being right down the street from shop . We did a free estimate and gave her pricing under normal conditions and worst case if we had to go thru brick or sheet rock . She Saudi she would talk to husband and call us back . She later called us and ask if we could do better on pricing and I said I could take off $30.00 towards the install under normal conditions and did explain to her that it is possible that we may have to make access if hose bib did not come out and the $75.00 charge would still apply . She said ok come out tomorrow morning and to be done by 11am because she had a showing at her house. We showed up the next day and she signed for us to the work and gave us the go ahead to replace hose bib. In the process the hose bib did break in the wall and we stopped and showed here what happen and gave here the option to go thru brick or sheet rock , and at that point she said go ahead and go thru brick because she did not want the house messed up because she was selling it.. We made the repairs and she new the $ 75.00 charged applied and when we finished she viewed and approved work and signed invoice saying she was satisfied with the work and we finished before 11 am. Not once after we left did she call us about the access charge and that she had a problem with it . If she would have we could have worked with her on the charges after we all ready took $30.00 dollars off the bill at the begaining . If this was a big deal we could have lowered the access charge or waved it but customer did not give us a chance and we strive to give a 100% customer satisfaction . If customer has any question please call The Affordable Plumber at 817-524-8676 so we can try to resolve your problem due to us not knowing that you were upset about charges .

Instead of starting with the sink, he went outside and dug up two holes in the yard and replaced two valves. It looked fine when he finished out there. That did not fix the problem, so he checked the hot water heater, the other sinks, and came back to the kitchen. He did not fix the problems, but the replaced parts cost $619.95. Labor cost $615.00 and $4.95 was for tax. He was punctual and polite, but he did a lot of criticism of other people's work.

When trying to find a reason for low water pressure, it is always best to start at the source. In this case, it would be the water line to the house. We dug the first hole to see if there was a pressure release valve by the meter, and we dug the second hole to discover a dropped gate valve. This means the valve was partially closed, restricting the flow into the house, causing reduced pressure. We were able to resolve the pressure issue throughout the house, with the exception of the kitchen faucet. Upon checking the kitchen faucet, we discovered that the cartridge inside the faucet was faulty and needed to be replaced. The only way this can be done, is to order from the manufacturers website. Businesses are not allowed to order from the site, only the person who owns the faucet is allowed to order. It requires a copy of a receipt for proof of purchase. We instructed the homeowner on how to go to the website and order the replacement part, and offered to install it for a very nominal fee when it arrived if they wanted. The customer said they would take care of ordering the part, and call us back. The customer never had any negative comments at the time the service was being provided, and we did our best to explain each step and why it was being done. If the customer is not happy with the work, or has any questions about the work, please feel free to contact us at any time to try to resolve the issue.

I was horrified to realize my home had yet another slab leak. Bryan was very kind, informative and put my mind at ease. He was punctual and attentive to all the concerns I had. After the repair was made he followed up to make sure everything was ok, and that I was satisfied. I am very pleased that I found someone I can trust to do a great job.

We were out of town when we learned that a water heater pipe had cracked and was flooding our house. I called Bryan to ask if he could help. Even though it was a Sunday afternoon, he immediately jumped into action and rushed to our house to fix the leak. His quick response saved us from a major flooding situation. He texted me pictures of the broken pipe and subsequent damage, urged us to call our home insurance company immediately, and gave us a personal referral to a local restoration company. When we arrived home the next day, the situation was well in hand, thanks to Bryan. He stopped by to drop off our receipt for his services, walked my husband through the damaged area to show him what actions had been taken, and spent some time talking to us about how to avoid a similar situation in the future. Bryan was fantastic from start to finish! I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a plumber!

One of the copper pipes on our water heater sprang a pinprick hole on Sunday night. We called Bryan, and he walked us through what to do to turn off the water immediately. He came out to our house first thing Monday morning and changed out the copper pipe. He was punctual, courteous and professional. We will definitely use The Affordable Plumber again!

He had to go up into our small attic that was very hot so that he could get the water lines run to the room where the water heater is. He also installed 2 drain lines and ran them outside of the house with elbows so that they faced down towards the ground, which was a regulation that we did not know about. It only took him about 45 minutes to complete the project. He is very knowledgeable of each cities codes and regulations. He is very easy to get along with, and a very pleasant and happy person. I thought that his prices were reasonable. We got 3 estimates for the project and he was the lowest of them all. I would definitely recommend him to others.
