Power scrubbed the carpet, but would not spent extra time on the stains themselves to actually try to remove them. Was told the cat stain was permanent and could not be removed. I seriously doubted that since I had removed similar stains before myself and in fact I was able to remove this one with a little intense scrubbing the next day. Overall I saw very little difference between before and after so would not use again.
Description of Work: Purchased a special of $33 per room and then added $20 or $25 per room additional to actually scrub the carpet. Wanted specifically to get some stains out, one of which was from cat vomit.

OK if I'd just stuck to the coupon services I'd bought.
Description of Work: The basic service was ok. But I basically doubled the price by adding pet stain remioval. In hindsight that $ would have been better spent on just replacing carpet that was beyond redemptiom.

I hired the company because of a special rate of $33 per room that caught my eye. They were very responsive and was able to come out within a couple of days. The quote I received over the phone was very competetive due to the promotion and the person I spoke with did warn me about the $20 per room possible prescrub charge.....I just wasnt expecting EVERY room. The 2 that came were knowledgable, friendly, and professional. There were a couple of stains in the living room that they werent able to get out but overall they did a great job. Only complaint is that I ended up paying quite a bit more than i had hoped for.

I scheduled a deep extraction cleaning. They arrived on time and the service man was pleasant and courteous. After looking at the carpeting he suggested pre-scrubbing the family room. Our kids spend most of their time in that room and it was the dirtiest. Carpet looks great and I am happy I spent the extra $20 to have the family room pre-scrubbed. I would use them again.

I called the company ahead of time and was quoted an approximate price of $400-$500. When the technician got here, he quickly reviewed the area, gave me the quote and quickly got to work without giving me a chance to decide whether or not I really wanted to spend that much money. I did tell him that was quite a bit more than was quoted to me, but he disregarded my comment.
Description of Work: Two bedroom apt carpet cleaning (living area, 2 bedrooms, stairs), in addition to couch and loveseat cleaning. They were all pre-scrubbed, with 5 gallons of PURT (pet urine removal treatment) applied, then sanitized.

We purchased a voucher for carpet cleaning of 3 rooms through EverSave. The voucher was stated to be ($149) value and I assumed it would cover what we needed. However, when I called to schedule my appointment, the receptionist told me the voucher only covered the "old fashioned way" of cleaning carpets--was only suitable for very low-pile carpets like those in corporate offices. She then said I could "upgrade" for an additional $30 to have the technician use the more modern equipment. I explained we just have typical carpet like most homes--not shag but not very low-pile either. She asked how dirty they were and I let her know they were professionally cleaned about 6 months ago when we moved into the home. She said the technician could help me decide if we'd need the upgrade. The technician came to the appointment on time, strongly recommended the upgrade without really looking at our carpet, but it sounded like that was the only way to get it really clean so I accepted. The carpet looked better after he cleaned--it was probably in C condition before he came and he got it into B+ condition (still some minor spots). I decided last-minute to have him do our stairs as well and I'm not sure if he was just hurrying too fast or what but they didn't end up looking any better. The stairs were in good shape other than a couple dirt spots and I was hoping when he cleaned them the dirt spots would be removed but they weren't. Anyway, the main reason I would never use this company again is because I feel they were very misleading in their advertisement of this package. They advertised something that sounded like this amazing carpet cleaning for 3 rooms, when you really had to pay to upgrade to get your carpet looking decent. Honesty is very important to me in feeling like I can trust the people who work in my home. I called ChemDry afterwards to try to talk to the manager and see if they could give me an explanation for all of this. I talked to Randy and he basically confirmed my suspicions. He got upset when I told him I wouldn't be able to give them a positive review because they had been misleading in their advertising. He started saying things like, "well, you paid $59 for the voucher and that's an $89 value so it's still a good deal". When I corrected him-- the EverSave voucher actually stated a $149 value--he didn't know what to say. He started going on about how they have $50,000 worth of equipment they invested in for their trucks so they have to make some sort of return, etc. It was ridiculous and they don't deserve mine or anyone else's business unless they change their ways.
Description of Work: The carpet in our main room, dining room, upstairs landing, and stairs was cleaned.

Response from Stringer's DFW ChemDry
I am sorry that the customer mis-interpreted the voucher advertising. I know that the voucher company tries to be entertaining by drafting a quirky message which evidently caused some confusion. However, the particulars of the offer are prominently displayed near the purchase button. In this section there was a bullet point clearly stating that heavily soiled carpets may incur additional fees. Not everyone needs additional services so they are not included in the voucher. This allows those with normal carpet conditions to benefit from the lowest possible price. In his review, the customer states that he assumed the voucher would cover everything he would need. However, there is always the possibility that a client may need additional services. Please understand that we do our best to explain everything up front and no work is begun until the client approves everything. The voucher was for our basic carpet cleaning package. We expect some of the voucher purchasers will want/need to upgrade to the deep extraction system so we put together a pricing schedule that allows them to upgrade without sacrificing the savings of the voucher. In fact they actually save a little more money since we rounded down the surcharges to even increments of $10. So the fact of the matter is that buying the voucher and then upgrading to deep extraction provides the purchaser with an even better deal. The customer called in after the service had been completed, questioning the value of the voucher. He told me he had a voucher for three rooms and purchased the upgrade to deep extraction. The voucher cost $59 and the upgrade is another $30 so he paid $89 for three rooms of deep extraction cleaning. I told him that $89 for this service was a pretty good deal. For the record, we used to offer this package at the special promotional price of $165 before the recession. So getting it now for $89 dollars is a pretty good deal. I don’t know how he came up with the idea that I said the voucher was worth $89. I also don’t know what he is referring to when he said I was rendered speechless regarding the $149 valuation for the voucher. I explained to him that we price out jobs by type of room (living room, dining room, etc) and that different types of rooms have different prices. Since the voucher was for any three rooms it was valued at the list price for three of the most expensive rooms. This is the maximum calculation but it is valid since a client could use the voucher to clean three of these more expensive rooms. The customer insinuated that we set up an elaborate scheme to defraud people out of $30. I tried to explain the costs involved in servicing a home so that he would understand why we charge extra for the upgrade to deep extraction. Evidently he found my explanation to be “ridiculous”. For the record, the direct costs (labor, fuel, solution, etc.) associated with a typical voucher job is $55.37 for the basic package and $78.37 for the Deep Extraction system, leaving only $4 and $11 respectively to cover all overhead. Seven dollars ($11-$4) is hardly worth the effort to set up an elaborate scam. The truth of the matter is that the only way we turn a decent profit on these voucher jobs is if the clients add more rooms or additional services such as upholstery, area rug, or tile cleaning. Fortunately, about half of the clients do this. For those who do not add on, we want them to have a positive experience so that they will remember us the next time they need their carpets cleaned. Yes, we make a little more money ($7) when clients upgrade to the deep extraction. However, the main reason for suggesting the upgrade is because we know that if your carpets are heavily soiled, you will be happier with the results. The customer also states that I became upset when he told me he wasn’t going to give me a good review. I was, in fact, flabbergasted. I found his complaint to be unfounded and I thought that I had adequately explained the pricing rationale to him. He got a great deal. No legitimate competitor would match the price without losing money. Yet he refused to recognize the value of the voucher. I also did not appreciate the way he let us do all the work and then wanted to renegotiate the pricing. To be honest I felt like he was trying to blackmail me into a refund even though none was in order. It was a very awkward situation to say the least. Later I pulled the paperwork and saw that a stairway was added to the job while we were on-site. I noticed that the technician charged $30 less than normal for the stairs. I asked him about it and he told me that the client was complaining about the price so he discounted the stairs “just to make her happy”. So we basically refunded the upgrade fee to them yet they evidently still felt that our prices were unreasonable. I suppose the customer believes that he has been ripped off. All I can say is that consumers need to be realistic regarding their expectations. We were willing to do the job at our cost just to introduce ourselves to a new client but it is unfair to expect us to do it for less than our costs. It is important to note that the original work order, completed at the time that the appointment was scheduled, indicates a female client. A lady was present when we cleaned the carpets. A male called in to complain after we had performed the service. I assume that this is the customer, the same person who evidently posted this review. It is hard to determine exactly, but it may be that the person posting this complaint was not party to every conversation regarding this matter. In fairness, I must admit that I was not party to every conversation either.

It was easy. The owner talked to me on the phone and was very helpful. He gave me all the details of their treatments. The serviceman was very friendly. He did over 1,000 square feet. The price was a little more than I was expecting but we hadn't had them done since we moved in the house and we needed the pre-scrubbing and pet odor removal treatment. I basically got everything done. I didn't get other prices.

I decided to hire Stringer's DFW ChemDry to clean our carpets, based on Angie's List grades and reports. When I called Stringer's DFW ChemDry, I was given a quote for $169 + tax for their "Deep Extraction" cleaning (price after Angie's List coupon), plus an appointment the next morning. Amy was very pleasant and helpful. She also listed as options prices for protectant and prescrub, and I ended the call understanding that we would pay about $169 for their service. In the morning, Mike called me to say he was on his way, and arrived within the promised time. He helped me move a few items out of the way. So far, so good, my experience with them was positive. Then he gave me a work order to sign -- for $269! Apparently the prescrub was not optional, which added the extra $100 to the total price. I didn't feel right about this, so I did not sign the work order. Instead, I called my husband, who said it felt like bait-and-switch. My husband talked to Mike a bit. At one point, I heard Mike say "well, do you want the dirt out?" My husband told Mike to leave, which he did.

I am rather unsettled by the fact that the Member gave us an “F” ranking when we did not even clean her carpets. I called her after we were there to see why she cancelled the service and, just as importantly, to make sure that our service practices were being performed according to our standards. She told me pretty much the same story as related in her review. It appears that her husband, who was not present at the time, did not agree with our technician’s assessment that the carpet needed to be pre-scrubbed in order to come satisfactorily clean. We honor a satisfaction guaranty so we know what is necessary in order to get carpets acceptably clean. We find it necessary to pre-scrub about 20% of the rooms we clean because they are excessively soiled and/or off-white etc. in color. Since this is an extra labor step, we charge an extra fee for this service. We informed the Member about this possibility when she booked the appointment and she stated so in her review. I assume that her husband, who again was not present, believed that we were just trying to bilk them out of more money. In any case, pre-scrubbing is optional. We would have cleaned the carpet without the pre-scrubbing but the results would have been sub-standard and the satisfaction guaranty would have been limited. It may be that the husband did not appreciate the technician’s attitude. I asked the Member if our technician was at any time discourteous and she said no. Although admittedly, she was not a direct party to the telephone conversation between our technician and her husband. I can imagine the technician reacting poorly to the Husband challenging his professional opinion. Perhaps this was reflected in his tone of voice over the phone. It is also possible that her carpets were not heavily soiled and did not need to be pre-scrubbed. However, I was not allowed the opportunity to inspect the carpets myself. In any case, I apologized to the Member for the inconveniences caused by these events. I then followed up with the technician to make sure he understood our pre-scrubbing standards as well as the proper way to interact with clients. He assured me that the pre-scrubbing was presented as an option. I wanted to make sure that I didn’t have a rogue technician on my team so I monitored him closely for a few months. He received overwhelmingly good reviews from our clients. I even inspected two of his jobs where he suggested pre-scrubbing and the client objected. I found both of these carpets to be disgustingly filthy. We try our best to ensure that every customer is completely satisfied on every job we do. Angies List clients especially receive VIP treatment. In fact we actually write “VIP” on the work order so that the technician will go above and beyond any standard expectations of service. We understand the value of a good Angies List review, as well as, the damaging impact of a bad one. If you give us the opportunity to service your home, I am confident that you will not be disappointed.

Jeremy both picked up the rug and dropped it back off - very courteous, professional and timely. I opted for the powerguard protectant which proved to be an excellent investment since a bowl of salad with dressing was dumped on it the very next day. It came up with just a damp towel - AWESOME. The rug feels clean under foot, and *no* remnant odor from cleaning product or rinsing with dirty water left in the rug. In fact, on hands and knees, there is no odor whatsoever. Highly recommend and will use these guys again for my other area rugs plus probably for the carpeted rooms of the house, too. VERY glad I found them on Angie's List.

I actually enjoyed having this serviceman in my home. He was extremely professional and personable, not to mention very knowledgeable about carpet care. I thought I had a couple of pet accidents to treat but his infra-red light uncovered a complete saturation of the two rooms from my daughter's male cat. The family room was fairly new carpeting that had not been stretched properly upon installation and it was stretched & cleaned to perfection, completely obliterating all pet odors. Plus dried with a huge fan so I could replace furniture right away. Living room was old, old carpeting with nasty nails showing at the doorway. Carpet not only looked & smelled good as new but was stretched to cover the worn away strip at the door...all within a very few hours. I would highly recommend this company.

Appointment scheduled on line, very pleasant representative called to confirm. The carpet cleaners arrived on time, were professional and friendly. They moved furniture and made extra effort to remove a carpet stain. They were so helpful, they even helped me move a piece of furniture out of the house. Work was completed in approx 1 1/2 hours. They did a great job, the carpet dried faster than with other companies and it looks much better. Thanks!

The person did show up on time to the appointment. I like this company because they don t try to up sell you at your house before they start. They do when you are on the phone though. The sales/customer service person I spoke with was very nice, too. The carpet looked great afterwards.
