JEB Furniture Renovation

Description of Work: We purchased a deal from Angie's List last November or December. A Victrola was stored in the barn in Maine for several years and needed restoration. The owner picked up the piece in December. We have not seen it since. After numerous calls and being told that it was almost ready, we have received two emails on the Angie's site. In one he offered to send pictures in return for my email address. The address was sent. The pictures were not. He keeps promising it in a few weeks. We are very hopeful that we will have the piece for Thanksgiving.

Description of Work: He agreed to make two new doors for a teak bookcase. He took the originals, to reuse the handles, and said he would have someone else actually build them, then he would stain and finish them. I spent the next six months with intermittent contact from him. I never heard why they weren't done within a month, as promised. He would sometimes take weeks to reply and then would say nothing more than they aren't ready, he was busy, or that he didn't have them. After months of delays and unresponsiveness, he finally brought the doors to the house. The stain was not even close to the doors I had left with him or to the rest of the unit. It is several shades darker. And the wood handles which are cut, glued and embedded in the door were installed vertically instead of horizontally and cannot be fixed. I asked him why he didn't test the stain on a sample piece before staining both doors, and he agreed he should have. I asked for a refund. He said he couldn't do that but could try to lighten the stain. He said he could not change the handles. I did not express this at the time but there is no chance that I would let the doors back out of my house to possibly lose these unique handles. I will need to start all over with a new furniture refinisher. Really disappointing.

Description of Work: Nothing got done. This has been very frustrating. I want my furniture back, I want the fabric back that I paid for, I want the money back for the coupon I paid for, and if this is an example of a preferred angies list company, I want my membership fee back!
