Everything went very well. It took a bit longer than expected, but with reasonable explanation. Bob takes pride in the work that he does.

Bob was extremely easy to work with. He was very professional and very upfront with all the applicable work he would be doing (or could end-up doing as a result of additional findings that weren't visible during the estimate). Anywhere wood or other materials needed to be replaced (as a result of existing damage), he did so at a reasonable cost. He kept us apprised of all work he was doing on a regular basis. All of the work was completed in a reasonable amount of time. We would absolutely recommend Dreams to Reality to our friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: Wood siding on three (3) sides of our house were needing replacing and refreshing (gables, fascia boards, etc.). We were open to either Hardie board or vinyl siding. We decided that vinyl siding fit best with our budget and purpose. Additionally, we were having the screen on our porch replaced.

Our staircase turned out beautiful. Bob and his assistance were wonderful to work with. There were a few times that choices needed to be made and Bob was able to lay out the choices/consequences of them in an easy to understand manner. We were able to make some changes as we went based on things that were uncovered (once the carpet came off) and the stairs turned out amazing. Definitely added $'s to the value of our home. I would recommend Bob and his team to anyone looking to so a remodeling project in their home. His depth of understanding, attention to detail and overall ethics are among the best in the business!

Thanks for the opportunity to assist with your project. Your project definitely had some interesting issues that needed addressed and I am glad to see the finished project came out as beautiful as it did. I look forward to working with you again, and hope that you have years of enjoyment with the new stair case. As always I wish you the best in all you do. Blessings to you.

Dear [Member Name Removed], I am deeply sorry we have been unable to get you your numbers for your bid. I have had the same problem with a total of 4 bids so far this year. That problem is based on other contractors not getting me their numbers as I said to you in my prior contacts. The market is so hot right now that certain trades are so busy they are not even returning calls. This sadly reflects poorly on me. Please forgive me not being more timely in my contacts but things are what they are and I am not trying to diminish the value and importance of communications in anyway. As with the other poor rating I had herein, the same reasoning is at it's core. I can not deliver what I can not receive from the various tradesmen that are required for certain types of remodeling projects. Just as an aside, I am not the only contractor to have this problem this year. I have spoken to several and they all say they have had the same problem. I hope you find one who can do what you need. Thanks for the opportunity to meet with you. I wish you the best. Respectfully,

Charles G.

Not good. After the visit I waited a couple of weeks and no response. I called several times and was informed they were still working on the estimate. Then I was getting calls from sub contractors requesting information about the project. I called and spoke with Bob and asked why were they calling me and his response was that he wanted to make sure they got the information straight from me. I explained to him that no other contractor has had their sub contractors call me for information and that I had provided him with all the information needed for the project. My point is if sub contractors are calling me for information then what the heck is the job of the contractor.

Response from Dreams To Reality
Dear Sir, Thanks for your frankness and I am not sure where the communication train derailed, but it obviously did some where. To start with, you did a great job with the information you provided, but it did not answer all questions. When I called you with a couple of questions the electrician had, you seemed to be offended that I was asking you questions. You actually got an attitude about it. So I decided it would be best to stream line the process by having the licensed professionals ask you directly as they wanted to see somethings in order to make their portions of the bids more accurate. You refused to even take the plumbers call and all he wanted to do was locate the sewer line so he would know how far he had to trench, and to make sure there was sufficient fall for proper drainage, but you wouldn't know that since you refused to talk with him. The last one to try and contact you was the flooring supplier. I tried to tell you the tile you said you wanted was no longer available and was discontinued and obsolete. Your response to me was I should pick out your tile and I said that was not going to happen. There are basically three types of contractors out there. The first ones are those who will bid a job and put every contingency possible into the bid and because you sign off on the charges you get to pay for things that didn't happen. I personally think that is unconscionable and do not do that. The second type is the low baller. He will cut the bid to bare minimum in order to get a signature, and then will add on until the cows come home. I also think that is unethical. I and the subs I deal with, cut our margins very close and the number we give are what you will pay...nothing more and nothing less unless something we could not have possibly known about surfaces. That is the nature of our work. But it appeared to all of us that your desire to not talk with anyone over road the logic of what was happening. That is what made me decide that with the incredulous position you took about talking with the subs, when all we were trying to do was give you an honest bid, was we were not the company for your project. If you got hyper over talking with the subs I could only imagine what would happen if anyone actually made a mistake or something was not up to your standards. I surely hope that whoever you choose to use is able to live up to whatever standard it is you believe we were not. I do in all things really wish you well. I am just not sure where things went south but it is what it is. Take care Sir and best wishes for you in all things.

Bob and Sarah were great to work with. Honest. Flexible. Communicated well. They work hard and take pride in doing things correctly. By choice, homeowner did most of tear out, sourced most of the materials and painted. They offered to work on an hourly basis and I was welcome to work along side of them where I could.

If I were rating the contractor himself, I would give him an "A" or a "B". The problem was his sub contractor didn't work very well. The sub contractors came 2 or 3 times and measured and asked us what kind of cabinets we wanted and everything. When they delivered them, they didn't fit. It took them like 3 tries to get them to all fit. I was happy with the main contractors work. He could maybe get a better sub contractor. He could not of known that because he has used them before. It's just that they screwed up this job. He didn't arrive until 9 or 9:30 in the morning and he took long lunch hours. I felt like if he had put more hours on the job, he would of got done sooner. On the other hand, the problems with the sub contractors might of kept him from getting the job done sooner anyways.

Thanks for your honesty Mr. [Member Name Removed]. In my defense, those "long lunches" were generally long because I was getting material for your project, talking with suppliers about your project while at lunch, or taking care of issues with other or future projects. There are only so many hours in the day when you are only one guy doing this kind of work. It is more involved than most consider. I understand we all see things through our own understanding of our personal reality. But everything is not as it seems to all. Sorry for the confusion with the cabinets. The party responsible for the mess up was ultimately terminated with the supplier, but I understand how it makes the rest of us look bad. Again, sorry for the confusion, and those matters have been addressed. Best wishes for you and yours.

The finished result is beautiful! Dreams to Reality really brought my house out of the sixties. I love to cook and I now have a kitchen that is functional for cooking. It is also a very beautiful space. I had lots of ideas about what I wanted to see done in my home and they made my plans work. They even let me work alone with them so that I see how they did things and be apart of the change that was occurring in my home. My house is an older home and presented many stumbling blocks, not to mention what previous owners had done wrong. They were able to overcome all the issues and make my kitchen a modern, functional and welcoming space.

I selected Bob at DTR for my remolding job because he was highly recommended by my brother-in-law and very fairly priced. He is skilled and experienced in all aspects of home remolding, inside and out, and I wanted to hire one contractor for the multiple remodeling aspects that I needed. For the weeks that he worked on my house he was dedicated and focused on my job alone and did not try to work on other projects while mine was ongoing. He listened to what I wanted and always consulted with me when a decision had to be made, offering his expertise in the matter, but always leaving the decision up to me. In addition, Bob and Sarah at DTR are wonderful people. When you have a major remolding job that is going to take weeks to complete, it is an added benefit that the people that will be in your house for that extended period of time are trustworthy and pleasant to be around . If/when I need a contractor again, I would definitely hire DTR , without even soliciting an additional quote from another contractor. I highly recommend DTR.

They were easy to work with, worked diligently to achieve the results I wanted, mindful of my resources (time and money) and I actually hired them a 2nd and 3rd time for additional projects, and will do so again. Very pleased with results. Improvements to the house have significantly increased its value and my joy in living here.
Description of Work: I bought a 1950's HUD home a few years back and it had many problems - sagging floors (pier and beam), settling cracks in the sheetrock, sagging beams from poorly designed archways, damaged flooring and some 'old' looking floor to ceiling decorative wall dividers. We had begun but not been able to complete the repairs. DTR repaired sagging ceilings and floors. Created a beautiful archway where a sagging beam had been, repaired unlevel pier and beam floors so that new tile could be laid, making sure that the floor was 'very' level and well supported before laying a beautiful tile flooring. Repaired the sheetrock cracks and the tape and bedding work was great. Removed those ugly wall dividers and repaired the floors and ceiling.

A "simple" project in my 100 year old home became MUCH bigger than I could handle on my own! A change in flooring, suddenly included the need to replace the vanity. Since the paneling behind the existing vanity had been fit AROUND it, THAT needed to come down, and the plaster walls repaired! The ceiling tile and the exhaust fan needed to be replaced, too. I called on Dreams to Reality to help, since friends had assured me they would do it right! We worked together to determine the changes that were needed, the materials necessary for the job, and negotiated a cost, based on my budget (reason for no cost listed here). In an effort to update the bathroom, they also advised widening the doorway and changing the curved ceiling above the tub/shower to provide a "cleaner" look. Unfortunately, as demolition began, mold was found behind the ceiling tile! It was treated quickly and effectively, and the project continued. My input was taken seriously. They maintained an upbeat attitude, which helped mine! The bathroom looks totally different now...so much better than I could have done on my own! I would recommend them to anyone, for work backed by integrity!

Bob was extremely professional, yet personable. He came out to get a general idea of the project and then came back to make sur ehis original measurements were accurate. He presented the bid in a timely manner and went to work immediately after the bid was accepted. He allowed me to help with the tear-down which saved some money on the price of the project. The work was done efficiently and periodic updates and great attention to detail. He constantly kept me updated on their progress. He also had to rework some of the project due to inconsistency in the lumber. However, he did this at his expense without attempting to increase the price of the project. I belive that Bob was fair and a real pleasure to work with. Dreams to Reality is a trustworthy company and can be counted on to do a good job. They are also great people to talk with as well
