Buyers beware-this is not a honest company. These crooks came to my home and installed my **/Heating unit on 5/22/2020. This unit has never worked properly. Every season I have to call them out for something. The ** has never properly worked. It's HOT in *****. They keep saying that it's a slow leak that they can't find but every time they come to my home to service or fix the A/C it's big money. I had to pay another company to come in and replace a part because it was wired incorrectly and it burned up the emergency heat pump. I was convinced these people do not know what they're doing that's why I contacted the other company. Now here we are again that looks like another record high in ***** and this thermostat will not move past 82 inside my home. Oh yeah that's right the freon is leaking out and every season they come out I have to pay for the freon that is very expensive. It's just a vicious cycle this unit never worked properly since it was installed. I should not have to keep paying for freon every year. I've only had the unit since 2020, Stand behind your product and fix it. I'm thinking of selling my home. Can't handle the broken a/c another year and it's ho*** ** my electric bill. Now they're telling me that to repair it-it could be around $3,000 on a unit that never worked.

Water poured through my ceiling and they sent a tech out who said the reason for it was my hvac pans were installed incorrectly. I recorded the conversation and sent it to the owner who sent another tech out and never even bothered to call me back! I asked them to pay for less than $2k in damages after spending $40k on 4 units in the last 5 years! I had been doing business with them for 10 years and they never even called me back!
Description of Work: Repair hvac issues they missed when installing and making repairs to units after the damage occurred.

It could not have been worse. I was charged for 3 lbs of freon @ $250 per lb !!! PLUS labor and before the repairman even left the driveway, my outside unit began buzzing and blowing HOT air ! The unit I was to find out, had a ground wire that shorted out and completely killed the unit !! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - I warn you. You will be overcharged and very non professional workmanship ! Use at your own peril

The salesperson is only interested in sailing and careless about the quality of the work. The internal teamwork is terrible. We wait one and half hour for the right size filter case. They have difficulty to install 7/8" copper pipe to replace 3/4" copper pipe which was STRONGLY recommended to keep my TRANE warranty. After failed trial, they left a hole in the eave. In order to remove old VL15 and install VR18 unit, they removed the door of the cabinet and left it open. A week later, water leaks outside of the unit. They refuse to finish all the jobs and fix the leak because we keep $300 from $12700. Please be careful about the quality of their jobs.

The initial purchase of my downstairs 5 ton AC unit was very positive and really enjoyed all of the new features of the Trane variable speed unit. I liked it so much that I had them then replace my upstairs 3.5 ton unit. Here is where the problems started, first I was verbally told by my salesperson that Trane does not make half ton units and I would be upgraded to a 4 ton unit. He sent over the sales contract and having taken him a his word I signed without looking to see what size unit he actually sold me. After the install if took them several months and 15+ service calls and replacing the inside air handler unit that they finally got the unit to work properly. I noticed that the humidity wasn't being controlled to the correct percentage as the downstairs unit did so when I asked the service tech he then told me that I had a 3 ton unit. When I reached out to my salesperson he denied ever telling me that I was getting a 4 ton unit. I hired an independent 3rd party HVAC consultant to run a manual J load on my house and he determined that I needed a 4 ton unit. When I provided to Gorman they disputed and made up their own manual J calculation to disprove what I had provided. 9 months later my upstairs unit continues to struggle to get to a decent temperature and humidity as compared to my old "inefficient" 15 year 3.5 ton unit that I had replaced; which actually performed much better. On the Trane website they claim that a new unit will run 30% more efficient than a 15 year old AC system, so far that has not been the case and not because Trane isn't a good company but because I was sold the wrong size unit. The service department and dispatch team at Gorman was always very helpful and provided timely support . I just wish that they would own up to their error, admit and replace to the proper size unit.

5 Star Review for Gorman Mechanical. Our 20 year old AC died. Rather than patch it back up we decided to bite the bullet and purchase a new unit. After 5 bids we selected Gorman Mechanical. They had the best price and lowest pressure sales process (Michael). They installed our 5 ton 16 SEER Trane system the very next day. The installers, William and Robby, were fantastic. They let my kids talk their ears off all day and even cut a door into the huge cardboard box for them to play in. I couldn’t be happier! Highly recommend Gorman Mechanical if you have AC or furnace needs.

Total cost of a new system was 12500 dollars. Day one it did not work. When I called to get help I was told "I do not care how much you spent". I finally got someone out and it turns out they didn't wire it properly. After insisting they leave an old return cover they took it anyways. It was a 400 dollar custom piece. I called to get it back and after calling for 2 weeks and being promised someone would reach out to me I'm still trying to get ahold of someone. They installed two returns on one of the systems. This was very unexpected and no one told me that I would have a return in a closet that is always closed with no vents. They left sheetrock and construction supplies all over the place. The worst was a bunch of trim work with finish nails sticking out of it under my clothing. Was great to step on that barefoot. It's also great to have your yard littered with cigarette butts from the workers. I've had to search everywhere they went to make sure my dog won't eat random dangerous things. I found him with copper piping, electrical pieces and more. DO NOT use this company unless you have another contractor that will clean up all the things they wreck and the mess they make. They did not install the heating pieces in the air handlers and did not tell me. I had to call and get bounced around. Finally someone texted me that they are out of stock and will be installed later. I did not want to leave this review... I have tried for weeks to work with them. I've been promised a call back 3 times at this point and all I want is my custom return vent. Because David never called me back after being promised three times I had to write this review. This company charges top dollar for top equipment. They do budget work at best and never get back to you. When you call because literally the system breaks down on the first day they swear at you. I attached an example of what they left my house looking like. You can be the judge. With so many options out there you would have to be crazy to go with this company.

Terrible. The unit went down 7/2. I had to pay for service call to find out this warranty item had to be ordered. The service technician who replaced the condenser broke the connector on the drain pan and the unit leaked into home interior damaged drywall, attic insulation, created mold and soaked carpet while waiting for technician to come with the new pan. Then found out an elbow on overflow pipe was broken also from the tech. After many unreturned phone calls this still has yet to be fixed. Gorman tried to pawn the repairs off to my insurance company. Insurance does not cover mold! Nor will they subrogate with company to get my deductible returned. After a month with no master bedroom because of the mold I am having to get the repairs done with my own contractor. With NO HELP from Gorman.

Almost 100degree weather and NO AIR! I finally received a call at 9:51am on Monday morning when they opened at 8:00am. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!

I've been using Gorman Mechanical for years and they kept my old unit running beyond its life expectancy. However, the old unit developed a leak and the old Freon costs a small fortune so it was time to upgrade. The process went smoothly and the installation is definitely superior to the previous installation (which came with the house so I don't know who did it). The sale came with a 5 year warranty and 3 year maintenance contract so I won't have to worry about it again for some time.

Perfectly as always - we don't and won't call anyone else. Have been their customer since moving here 3 years ago. They are always professional, courteous, on time, etc. They kept our old system running and then, upon our request, installed a better and more efficient system inside and out including revamping our worn out ducting. It got us through the remainder of last winter and this really long, hot summer without a single, solitary hitch. They came back in the spring just to make sure everything was tip-top (it was!). Don't hesitate and don't worry - you won't go wrong with this company!

It’s been almost a year, but I’m finally doing our review for Gorman Mechanical. We wanted to wait until all the bugs were worked out first and get through all seasons with them before doing a review. We decided to get quotes from (4) different HVAC companies that were certified Trane dealers/installers, including the company that had installed our (3) original Trane units. We had been using that company since we purchased our house in 2005 until 2018. We decided to go with Gorman Mechanical for a few reasons. The first was due to David, the Salesperson, being such a great guy to deal with…very accommodating and trying to get us the best price. We let him know that we had (3) other estimates from other Trane HVAC companies and he talked with Michael and got us a great deal. It was between Gorman and another HVAC company that we really liked a lot as well and would highly recommend them too. It was a very tough decision. The second thing was that Gorman Mechanical offered 24/7 emergency/after-hours service, which we really wanted in a company, especially living in Texas with the weather here. The third thing, and most important for us, was the better warranty and maintenance that we would be getting from Gorman. We always have maintenance done on our units twice a year, (winter/summer), and we were getting a great deal on the maintenance that no other company was offering and a better warranty. Even though we were paying a little more in the beginning, we were coming out ahead within the 5 years. That’s really what put us over the top with Gorman and deciding to go with them…so glad we did. We had Gorman install (3) new complete Trane units in our house in June 2018. We purchased (3) of the Trane XV18 TruComfort Variable-Speed Communicating Air Conditioners, the matching XC80 Variable-Speed Furnaces with ComfortLink Communicating Technology and the ComfortLink II XL1050 (TZON 1050) Communicating Programmable Thermostats. These units replaced our old 2-Stage Trane units that were approximately 15 years old and were top of the line back in the day. We really like these Trane HVAC Systems and they’ve really helped reduced the cost of electricity and keep the house at a really great even temperature throughout. The installers that did our installation are their best installers, as far as we’re concerned. It was a father and son team, I believe it was Miguel Sr. and Miguel Jr., with an additional son helping with the installs during the summer. These guys were the best and such a pleasure to deal with! It took them a couple days, but we did have (3) complete old units that had to be taken out and new ones installed in their place, as well as whatever else needed to be done. They took out all the old equipment from the attics and outside and installed all the new equipment very carefully. They cleaned everything up and didn’t damage anything, which was amazing, especially with the tight spaces they had to deal with in some instances. They rerouted duct work, added in dampers, cleaned out vents/vent covers, etc., for the new units to function properly. They took out each old unit separately and installed each new unit in its place, only better, and tested each unit as it was installed to make sure it was working properly. They didn’t leave us without air conditioning in June, in Texas…thank goodness…during the couple days when they were doing the install. Michael, the owner, came by to check on the guys doing the install and hung out with them for a few minutes to see how everything was going, how they were doing and just chat with them for a bit. We actually got to meet Michael when he stopped by our house…such a nice guy. We didn’t even know he was the owner…he only introduced himself as Michael. Also, we were told by David, the Salesperson, that there would be bugs that would have to be worked out. It’s just that way when taking out old and installing new HVAC systems…we were expecting it, but it was nice that David told us that ahead of time. We did run into a few issues throughout the last year, which is to be expected, but can be a bit frustrating at times. Here’s just a few of the issues we ran into. One of Units wasn’t cooling down & the TZON 1050 Thermostat touchscreen wasn’t working properly either. After we called them, they had Techs out within a couple of days to replace the Thermostat and do testing on the unit to fix the cooling issues & then check everything else out to make sure it was working the way it should be. They had it up & running within a couple days. Then we had a couple leaks on one of the upstairs attic units that was leaking into the drain pan underneath the unit. After we saw the water in the pan…we called Gorman and they had the Techs out very quickly to repair the leak(s) and make sure the unit was working properly. We also had a few issues with the Thermostats sending error messages and misc. other issues that they immediately sent various Techs out to diagnose and repair. Some of these issues were after hours and they were very responsive and took care of them. It’ll be a year next month that we’ve had the new units installed and all seems to be working great now. We just had our summer maintenance done. After a few months, we had Gorman install Surge Protectors on each unit…(6) total. One on each Furnace Unit in the attic and one on each A/C Unit outside. Not an expensive investment to do this, but a great way of protecting very expensive HVAC equipment…especially with Texas weather that’s totally unpredictable at times. Weather that can freak out or fry your Communicating Systems and Thermostats. Gorman’s Techs are wonderful guys…they seem very knowledgeable and are great to deal with. Their staff in the office are awesome to deal with as well. The girls that we speak with to schedule service or maintenance, etc., are wonderful and very friendly. We have already recommended Gorman Mechanical to people we know and some of them have used Gorman for their HVAC needs in their homes as well. Along the way, we’ve also found out from other friends that Gorman Mechanical is their HVAC company too…small world. We would highly recommend this company for your Trane and other HVAC needs. Such great customer service...which is very rare to find these days. Love this company…such a pleasure to deal with…so glad we found them.

I've worked with Gorman Mechanical for years, and often recommend them to others. I've had to call on them after hours twice before, and the company has never let me down. I will continue to recommend them.
Description of Work: Repairman came to my home Saturday evening, about two hours after I requested a service call for an air conditioner that suddenly stopped running on a very hot day. He replaced a burnt out wire. This didn't fix the problem, and he said I needed to hire an electrician to repair a breaker in my main breaker box. (He was right. I did so the next day, and all was fine.)
