+ -1 moreFrom start to finish, everything went smoothly and I feel very happy that we called Nick from Union Jack Plumbing to take care of several plumbing issues in our home.
Description of Work: Nick from Union Jack Plumbing was a pleasure to work with! He was reliable, kept to his word and knew what he was doing when it came to plumbing related concerns. On his voicemail he mentions the specific duration during which he returns calls and he keeps that timeframe. When I spoke with him I told him what I was considering having done in our home and he set up a time to come over to handle the work. I felt lucky that he was able to fit me in. He installed my new kitchen sink and reattached the food disposal system. He also installed a bathroom faucet, and two different showerheads in both bathrooms. He fixed my leaking toilet, replacing bolts and other needed items. He also suggested adding a water saving flushing system to my toilet while he was doing replacement of parts. This system saves lots of water as it adjusts for liquid vs solid waste. (The handle hangs downward and you flush to the left if it is liquid waste and to the right if it is solid waste--(this adjusts how much water flows out from the tank). I also liked his catchy phrase he suggested to share with guests to remember which way to flush--"Lefty lighty, righty mighty!" Yes, it is dorky but easy to remember. I'm looking forward to the increased water savings as I had this installed in both toilets in the house. He answered my questions with ease and gave some good advice for how I could fix a few things I asked him about as well. He surprised me with his great ability to speak Spanish (with a British accent, too!). He was funny and had some interesting anecdotes that he would share as he happily did the work we hired him to do. He was fast, knowledgeable, professional and fun to talk with in person. I would highly recommend Nick any day!

+ -1 moreHe showed up on time for the scheduled appointment and fixed everything. He always has some great stories because he is a very interesting person. He has so many interesting aspects to his life that it is fun just to talk to him. He and his parents are British and he went to Greek schools as a child. His dad is a professor at the university. I never have a problem. He is the nicest guy that you could imagine. He works with a Hispanic guy and he said that his time on the Greek island helps him communicate. I've used him forever. He doesn't like to do new plumbing; he likes to do detective plumbing, which is very interesting. He enjoys problem solving. He is a unique and intelligent guy.
Description of Work: I used Union Jack Plumbing to rebuild a faucet in the kitchen and replace two faucets that were leaking on the outside of the house. As a courtesy he fixed a gasket in a faucet that I had put in wrong.

The 1st time I used him 10 years ago, he replaced a water heater for me. He corrected various issues that he thought were not done correctly the first time at no extra charge. He's done other minor plumbing jobs for me. The latest was fixing a gas water heater. He diagnosed and replaced the pilot assembly.

Each time he did the work fairly well but I was left feeling he had not done his best, and was basically going through the motions so he could get out of there. He was entertaining and cheerful, but the end result is, I still (months later) have rusty water in my tub (from his work), the water heater he pointed out is not up to code, was not corrected by him NOR a substitute or fix discussed, and in general I felt he couldn't wait to get out of there; even his voicemail says he's "really busy" so the impression one gets is, don't bother him unless you want to pay him a lot of money for a big job and/or don't really care about an excellent result for a "small time" (normal) repair. Date above is VERY approximate -- I would have to look at my records to be sure but he did come out a couple of separate times last fall and winter.
Description of Work: I called this plumber to fix a shower that had stopped diverting. He installed a new diverter, which was confusing to use, gave me no option of a "traditional" diverter, and this one results in rusty water coming out every time the faucet is turned on, even months later. When I called to ask, he said, "This is what happens with old houses" however my house (built in 1935, but will all new plumbing since then) never had this problem before. He did not offer any further assistance with this situation. I have used this plumber previously on some other repairs (water heater, clogged sink) and he was professional and talked knowledgeably but charged quite a bit (I don't remember exactly how much for each visit but I remember thinking each time it was high). He had a quick answer for everything but I was left feeling a little dismissed, now particularly with the issue of the rusty water in the tub.

+ -1 moreA faucet on the external wall of my house seemed to have a small leak. I contacted Union Jack based both on a referral from a friend and recommendations on Angie's List. It took a couple of days to arrange for an appointment, but Nick was very responsive and communicative throughout. He showed up right at the appointed time, and before he began work, took the time to assess the pipes in my house to ensure that he'd be able to work on them or if he'd need to refer me elsewhere. He found the problem right away, repaired the problem and replaced the faucet within about 2 hours. Fantastic experience overall, and I wouldn't hesitate to call Nick or recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Replace leaky faucet on the external wall of my home, which included removal of about 1 square foot of the wall/siding.

After multiple visits and no resolution on a water pressure issue with another plumber, we called Nick on Sunday afternoon and received a return call first thing Monday morning. Over the phone, he asked lots of questions and even suggested small tests we could run to verify what he was thinking before he got out to the house. He arrived on Tuesday. The original problem was a simple fix for him, but after examining everything he suggested we replace the main valve. He knocked this out in under an hour and then came inside to take a look at the other items listed above. Along the way he made sure we understood how much he thought each item would cost, giving a range and reasons why it could end up on either end. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with his work and he will definitely be our first call for any future plumbing needs. We found Nick to be very nice.
Description of Work: Nick did a series of things for us: replaced the main shut off valve to our house, flushed the line to the bathroom sink, replaced the line to the refrigerator and replaced the hot and cold valves in the kitchen sink.

+ 0 moreIt went great. Nick quickly returns phone calls and was very knowledgeable and helpful in researching toilets, based upon our needs. He also spoke to us about a potential problem he found with our water heater. He arrived on time and was very efficient.
Description of Work: We had a toilet overflow and needed to replace it. A friend referred Nick to us. We spoke to him and he recommended a new toilet which we purchased. He was very helpful, prompt, and responsive. He came out and replaced 2 toilets and also helped us re-install a pedestal sink. He even took away the old toilets to be disposed of.
