Description of Work: Had problems with a getting a written quote from them that was reflective of what was agreed on verbally. Then we had problems with them showing up for the work in a timely manner and decided that we would not let them perform the work on our home. Kelly seemed to be a very nice gentlemen both times he was here to do the quote, we just had problems with them following through. Had they performed the work it would have been very reasonably priced. Thanks...

Description of Work: Requested a quote for "entire house" crown molding including installation and painting. Kelly Brown was quick to respond and gave me a quote on the spot. We set a start date and time in the contract. About 600 linear feet of crown molding was installed, primed, caulked, and painted within two days. Everyone had the right tools to do the job in a timely manner and it was done right the first time. The installers made extra cuts at all rounded corners and there were many. Site clean- up was done right and were even considerate as to which way the wind was blowing for the sawdust. Workers were cooperative and offered options when available. I was there the entire time so I know how hard they all worked to get the job completed within my requested time frame - in fact it was a day early. All employees were professional and just nice people. Kelly and his wife, Colleen, were responsive and helpful throughout with any administrative questions. Thanks for a job well done and it looks fantastic.

 + 0 moreThe color for the touch up was right on. The pricing was very reasonable. One thing I appreciated was that if something wasn't right, they had no problem coming back and fixing it. Everything looks great!
Description of Work: They painted a 22 foot tall formal living room, a bathroom, and touch up in several other rooms. In the bathroom they did specialty Venician plaster faux finishing. In the living room, they did a color wash faux finish. The touch up in the rest of the house was regular paint.

 + 1 moreAn experienced crew of five workers arrived at 9 Am on Monday morning, and began the preparation immediately. Following some heavy rain on Wed, they left to let the power washed wood dry. On Friday, the entire house was painted beautifully. We found very very few things that needed correction. They left the yard in very good condition, though there was some wear from workmen moving through the grass.
Description of Work: Complete power wash of house, replacement of damaged or rotted woodwork, sanding and preparation for repainting the whole house.

 + -1 moreThis company did a good paint job, but they were not punctual. A major problem I found with them is that some of them did not speak English. I recommend this company based on the work, in spite of the language barrier.
Description of Work: This company painted the interior of my home. They used latex paint for the work which consisted in painting the living room, the dinning room and the kitchen. The size of the house is around 1400 square feet.

 + -1 moreThese guys are terrible at following up. We contacted them for an estimate. We agreed to a date three days out from the initial contact. They never showed. We called them and they were "behind" but agreed to call us to re-schedule; they never called us. We then called them a total of 3 separate times before they sent someone out the next day. We were told that they would e-mail us a quote the next day. It has been one week and no quote, no phone calls, no mailings... nothing. We have left them a message and they have not returned our calls. We first contacted Brown over two weeks ago and even though they have been to our home, we have yet to see or hear anything from them. Funny but CertaPro, Southern Painting, Freeman and Adame were very prompt, very competitive, and eager to earn our business. I guess that things are just too good for Brown (sarcasm). If they are this slow to earn our business, then I sure as heck do not want to hire them for actual work.
Description of Work: We contacted Brown Paint Co to provide us with a cost estimate for our 10 year old, 2 story home.

 + 1 moreFirst they power washed the whole exterior, stone, deck, and wood siding. We only expected them to power wash the wood that need repainting. They waited a couple days to dry out then came back and painted the exterior wood portion. Job was very well done for the most part. A few minor blemishes that we're quickly fixed once pointed out. The painters left and forgot to seal the deck. Called and reminded them. They were out 2 days later to finish and seal the deck.
Description of Work: Power washed entire exterior of house even the stone. Only about 1/4 of the exterior had wood siding. Painted eaves, overhangs, refinished front door, painted back door, power washed the wood deck and sealed the deck.

 + -1 moreThey hung me up with promises and wasted my time. Never got the promised estimate, much less the painting I needed. I think they are in over their heads because of Angie's list, and are unable or unwilling to deal with it. Definitely don't call them unless you can afford to fiddle around with broken promises forever.
Description of Work: I called Brown Paint for an estimate for painting a bedroom. I got an answering machine and I gave a description of what I needed. I was called back and told that they would be calling me with an estimate shortly. I called later that day and gave more information about what I needed. Again, I was called back and told that someone would call and give me an estimate shortly. That was the last time I've heard from them, more than two weeks ago.

 + -1 moreOverall, an excellent experience. First, his was the lowest bid, and he was the only painter that did not charge additionally for each color as other painters quoted. In fact, he was very helpful in choosing colors. The crew did an excellent job. Kelly was delightful to work with. Sometimes it seemed hard to get a hold of him (I know he keeps very busy), but overall he was very responsive. One room was painted the wrong color, and he had it repainted it without hesitation. Also, I'm having the floors redone, and he said to call him after they were finished and he would come and do touch up. A very high caliber company; I recommend them most highly.
Description of Work: They painted the entire interior of the house; we have an older house with trim around every door and window, and we wanted several colors. We also had popcorn ceilings removed in several rooms.

 + -1 moreKelly provided a very professional written estimate, detailing the work that would be provided. Kelly's team showed up as promised and worked very quickly to apply the texture. Unfortunately, they spilled texture compound on the lawn in front of my condo. Also, I think there was a miscommunication between Kelly and his workers about the job was to be completed, because after applying the texture the workers never showed up again to do the painting and had not textured the master bathroom. Even though the work had not been completed, my credit card had been charged for the remaining 50% of the fee. Fortunately, we had an estimate in writing. After I brought the discrepancy to Kelly's attention, he was very efficient in sending another of his workers to complete the texture work & paint the ceilings. The discrepancy put the completion of the job 4 days behind schedule, but the final results looked great.
Description of Work: Kelly's team prepped the ceiling drywall and applied knockdown texture to the ceiling (959 sq ft). I had already removed the previous popcorn texture from the ceiling. His team then painting the ceilings white.

Description of Work: Removed wallpaper from Kitchen, 2 bathrooms, textured them and painted them, also painted every room in my house and all of the wood work including bathroom vanities, bar cabinets, all ceilings and closets.

 + -1 moreI called Brown Paint Company for an estimate, based on the positive reviews on Angie's List. When my call was returned they told me it would be over a week before they could get to my home to do an estimate. We made an appointment for a little more than a week later, which was today. We were supposed to meet at 4pm, so I got home shortly before (left work early). When I got home there was a message on my machine saying that they had a scheduling conflict and needed to come on Saturday at 10:30 instead. Granted, they were perfectly polite, however I called back and told them that cancelling an appointment with essentially no notice, after waiting over a week, was not something that boded well for our working relationship. Instead, I will hire one of the other companies who were more responsive.

 + -1 moreA crew of four painters power washed our two decks one day and stained the decks and railings the next. They worked quickly and thoroughly. The crew was well organized and neat. They didn't show up the day they were scheduled because it was going to rain. I figured as much, but I would have preferred that they would have proactively notified me of the delay.

 + 0 moreThe painters performed the job as quoted. They were very careful to cover surfaces before painting. They worked in a methodical, orderly manner. These guys had a system and my kitchen was back in service within days. Before each phase, paint, stain, seal, the painters made sure that I liked the color and were patient with me until we attained the color I wanted. They cleaned up at the end of each day and thoroughly cleaned the area at the end of the job. They were great to work with: respectful, polite, efficient, and professional.

When they left, everything was back to normal except with a fresh coat of paint. They worked quickly, quietly, and neatly. The painters were respectful and on line.
