They were booked several weeks out. That did not work for me. Went with A1 Engineering that were able to provide more timely service.

Since my home is connected to another house (two separate foundations, but townhouse), Tom met with my neighbor and I to explain what was causing the problems (visible cracks in the walls, doors not closing, etc.). Since the foundation is cement slab and pier & beam on the side of Meadow Mountain, we found problems with several of the piers failing/close to failing and soil erosion around the footings. Even the beam joining the two homes had pulled loose from the cement slab. He was professional and explained in terms we could understand just what was happening with the structural aspects of the house. He did complete measurements of the floors and noted the variations in the elevations. After I had the foundation repaired (reinforced the footings and repaired the pier and beams) and installed an elaborate rain gutter system under the deck so the rain wouldn't erode the soil in the future, I began a major kitchen remodel. The second time I used TK Consulting was when the design of the kitchen required moving a load bearing wall and Tom provided the guidance and certified drawings required by the City of Austin. Then he was able to provide guidance and drawings to correct a slope in the floor at the corner of the kitchen (accessing the house from underneath instead of cutting a hole into the floor) and recommended All-In-One Foundation to do the work. The foundation work has now been completed and the floor is now close to being level so I can proceed with my kitchen remodel without any major interruption in the progress. I would strongly recommend Tom to anyone requiring engineering consulting services. He is trustworthy (always keeps his word), professional and charges fairly for his service.
