Our entire experience with Marler Inspections was exceptional from start to finish. I contacted Justin based on all of the Angie's List recommendations and can understand why he was rated so highly. He was responsive, organized, detailed, and practical throughout the engagement. Responsive - I called to schedule a time with Justin. Heard from him immediately. Scheduled a date. He quickly sent email confirmations to both me and the realtor to ensure that we had the time confirmed. Organized - The entire process was easy to follow. His emails outlined everything from paying, to signing the inspection agreement. He followed up after the inspection promptly and made it easy to follow-up w/ any questions. Detailed - Throughout his inspection report he had pictures and very detailed descriptions of what he found. This was invaluable to ensure that we knew exactly what he saw and could communicate it clearly to the owners. Practical - We've purchased a number of homes and had many inspectors write up detailed findings recommending that we ask the owners to make lots of changes before closing. I wanted a clear view on what (if anything) should be a significant issue and a potential deal breaker. I was glad to know about the maintenance items, but I didn't want an inspector who fet the need to trash a home just to show that they were worth their fee. Justin was very upfront on what he found. Raised a couple of issues. But didn't hesitate to confirm that he thought the home was in good condition. I'd have no hesitation recommending Justin to anyone. The home we were looking at was 4,000+ sq ft and took him about 4 hours to inspect. But it was time and money well spent. Thanks!

This review won't add much to the previous recommendations. Justin was exactly as the reviews stated. He was thorough, professional, and gave experienced advice in accessible terms. The photos and narrative descriptions were very helpful. He did a fantastic job and I'd definitely recommend him. Also, with the Angie's list coupon, he was actually cheaper than the quote I received from other highly rated home inspectors.

Really reasonable, he was nit picky which was a good thing. He noticed a lot of cosmetic things that might bug you when you move in.

Justin was on time and waited as I got got in traffic for the initial inspection. He did his inspection and found the obvious and not obvious. He was well versed on the code compliance and the things that should be done. During the inspection he pointed out the good things, the must be fixed items and the items that could wait. Due to the number and type of issues he found, we had to have him out a second time to reinspect and instead of charging for a second full inspection, he has a reasonable reinspect rate. The report provided in both instances made since to us and the builder. If we had questions he explained things and was patient with my many questions. We will definitely recommend him and use him again for future home purchases.

After requesting an appointment online I promptly received a call back from Justin and we agreed on a time the following week. He arrived on time, was very professional, and thorough. He pointed out all priority and deficient, less critical items, and I received a comprehensive inspection report via email a few hours after he left. The report was detailed and contained photos with arrow overlays pointing out each item, and even included a home maintenance checklist with move in reminders like changing smoke detector batteries. Very thoughtful. Overall I was very impressed and I'd definitely use his services again. Highly recommended!

Justin came right on time. Was fully prepared and got right to work. He gave me information on what to expect and his estimate of how long it would take. After completing the inspection he clearly explained everything to me and had my complete inspection sent to me the same day. He was very organized and professional. I would recommend him to anyone.

Justin was responsive to e-mails, phone calls, questions, etc. I used the $20 dollars Angie's List coupon. As mentioned in the description, Justin had to do the inspection with a very ill home owner on the premises, and so the large family was home during his inspection. I know this was probably awkward, but we feel confident Justin did a great job despite the circumstances. He was responsive to a few follow up questions we had when we were submitting an amendment for repairs to the home. It helped to have his opinion. He had the reports to us very quickly, which was great because we were getting tight on time.He also very quickly did a follow-up inspection for the WDI report. We were pleased with our experience with Justin, and recommend him to anyone needing a home inspection.

Justin was great. He was willing to talk about anything he pointed out or other things I had questions on. He pointed out a lot of things I hadn't noticed before, and although they aren't critical items, I know have a list of issues I'd like to address once I get possession of the house.

As a first time home buyer, I was completely satisfied with my experience with Justin Marler. Justin was receptive to my questions and experienced in his answers during the entire inspection, which was approximately 2 hours (if my memory serves me) for which I was present. The inspection report itself was a thorough 21 pages, complete with pictures, and arrived a day after the inspection. As a testament to his promptness, he was early to our scheduled appointment and began assessment before my arrival. I also appreciated that, when I arrived, he thoroughly explained and showed me what he had discovered before my arrival, instead of deferring me to the report.

We hired Justin Marler to inspect a 21 year old 4200 sq ft home we wished to purchase. The resulting report we received was the most complete and comprehensive inspection document we've ever seen. Not only was Justin personable and great to work with, he was timely and thorough. He uncovered a number of minor items that might easily be overlooked and a couple of major items such as roof leaks which were critical for assessing our offer and probable cost of ownership of the property. The inspection allowed us to renegotiate the price we had offered for the house and close the deal to our satisfaction. We would highly recommend Justin to anyone wishing a comprehensive inspection of a property.

Justin was great. We were looking at a property that appeared fairly well maintained but was actually a disaster. I was amazed at all house's secrets that Justin found. For example, he found "vents" that were actually holes made to "repair" or cover up old disasters. The amount of mold he found in in hidden places was shocking. At one point, I think he was really having a lot of fun discovering clues about issues that looked weird to him. He gave us enough documentation and evidence that we could state with confidence that the seller was lying and needed to pay to make things they way she claimed they were. I could go on and on about how organized, professional, smart, and experienced he is. At the end of the day he saved us from a huge disaster and his service was invaluable to us.

Justin was on time, very professional in how he set up the job, gave me a detailed report pdf with descriptions and photos that detailed problem areas ( leaking plumbing, some roof damage, siding insufficiencies). He also provided a list of contacts for various specialities that he had worked with in the past, though he did not recommend any of them and ethically refused to estimate the costs of repairs for the various deficiencies noted in his report. I trusted the report and thought it was thorough and well presented. He also detailed the things that he could not inspect, either because they were not reachable ( potential wood/seepage damage under roof shingles, potential termite compromise on one pier that was inaccessible due to grade) or because they would have required a specialist ( condition of condensor coils in A/C). Highly satisfied with his work.

Mr. Marler was professional and thorough with his inspection of the Duplex wwe were in the process of purchasing. We hired him based on reviews here on Angie's List and we're glad we did! Used Craig's List the time before and boy did we get a dud! Justin, however, took very detailed notes and tested everything. He took good pictures and even added arrows on his report showing where the areas of concern were in the pictures. We have lived here for a year now and haven't come across any problems that Justin didn't find in his home inspection. We are planning on purchasing a single family home in the next couple months and definitely intend on using Justin for our next home inspection!

Very pleased with the attention to detail and thoroughness of the inspection and report. Spent over five hours at the property and did a good job of going over the report while I was there.

I called Justin after reading about his service on Angie's List. He returned my call promptly, and I explained I had found what I was afraid was water damage from a new roof. Justin came out on Labor Day (!) to perform the inspection so I'd have his report timely in case there was a problem I would need to address with the roofers. He said he could just check the roof, or while he was there he could perform a full inspection for $350. I agreed that sounded like a good idea since I'd also had some other work done on the house in the past year and wanted to confirm it was all done properly. At his request I went to his website to give him my address, confirm the date and time, etc. and on the website he offered a termite inspection for an additional $30 so I added that. He arrived promptly and spent a good 3 hours or more going over my house from top to bottom. While he found some issues I should address, all of which were outlined in his report, overall I was very reassured that I didn't have any emergency problems (or a roof leak!!). He did find some other mistakes made by various contractors but explained how to fix them, what was urgent, what wasn't etc. He was incredibly conscientious, used high-tech equipment to check for moisture, temperature (from HVAC outlets), etc., and at the same time worked very efficiently, getting a huge amount of work and coverage done in that amount of time. He went into the attic, the crawl space, and went over the entire exterior and interior of the house including of course all over the the new roof itself, inside and outside. He was much more thorough than the person who inspected my house when I bought it years ago!!!! Definitely gave me great peace of mind while also firmly cautioning me about specific and regular maintenance for this type of (older) house. A great job by a true professional.

Overall it went very well and we would use Marler Inspections again.

I needed an inspection on a tight deadline, Justin was able to accommodate my timing needs and helped go through the house after his inspection was complete. He was friendly, reasonably priced, and a person I could relate to.

Justin was really great to work with. He got back to us very quickly whenever we had any questions, and the inspection itself was thorough with pictures showing every major issue. My grandfather is a builder and he even thought it was above and beyond what Justin had to do. We used the inspection to get the seller to make a lot of expensive repairs. So Justin saved us far more than the cost of the inspection in the long run. I can't recommend him enough.

Justin was professional and courteous throughout my dealings with him. He was very flexible when scheduling the inspection appointment, arrived early, and performed a thorough inspection. Justin was forthcoming with information and advice during the inspection, and provided a detailed report for me to review the same day.

Justin arrived at the property at least 15 minutes early and he was already setting up his equipment when I got there. He introduced himself and let me know the areas he was planning to inspect and then he headed out to the front of the house. He took pictures from the front of the house, as well as from the roof where he identified several cracks in the mortar. The house has a stone archway over the front patio and Justin explained that the house lacked a steel support that would strengthen the arch and prevent cracking in the future. after inspecting the front of the house and the roof, Justin inspected the sides and back of the house, taking several pictures along the way. He then explained the electric box and grounding rod on the outside of the house which he noted wasn't fully driven into the ground. Once the inspection of the exterior of the house was complete, Justin headed inside to test the A/C unit and the water in the house. He also noted drywall cracking on the walls and ceiling. The kitchen appliances were not in place at the time of the inspection, but Justin was able to tell us that everything was wired properly and even told us what to look for after the appliances were installed. Overall, I feel that Justin was very thorough with his inspection of the home and he was willing to take the time to educate me, a first time home buyer, about the areas he was inspecting and the things I needed to look for in the future in order to properly care for my home. I would definitely use Justin in the future if I were to purchase another home and I would certainly recommend his services to friends and family.

I was able to reach Justin promptly and he came out to my home within just a couple of days. Now, a little about myself. I am very detail oriented and critical. I was impressed with Justin right from our first phone call. His inspection more than surpassed my expectations! He spent close to 3 hours completing his inspection, took wonderful photos, spent time answering my questions, and explained everything to me as he worked. I felt like I was in a class (which is a big compliment to him). I received his report that night as promised. It was well written, highly detailed, and included the photos. Whether you're buying, preparing to sell, or just need an inspection done, go with Justin. You will get back much more than just your monies worth.
