This is an exceptional company, with terrific customer service. They just replaced, under full 100% warranty, a failed solar attic fan that the previous owner of my home in Sun City Georgetown had installed by Solartex in early 2014. The previous owners left me no records of this installation, but Solartex looked up the "work order" from 2014 and told me they would replace it for free - - even though I wasn't the "original owner." They followed up twice on the scheduled replacement which took place this afternoon, and the technician they sent was extremely knowledgeable, pleasant, and professional. Solartex has a great reputation here in Sun City, and I can see why. I highly recommend them.

It went well. The skylight was installed in a matter of hours. My wife insisted that the installer make sure it would not leak. It was installed on a metal roof and he probably put on a bit too much sealant so it looks a bit ugly from the top. However, the result inside is beautiful. My wife asked for a special lens which creates rainbow patterns on the walls and floor. It looks terrific.

I was out of town when the installation took place, but my wife told the technician that we wanted to be sure there would be no leakage from the roof. We have a standing seam metal roof. When I got back to see the results, the Sola-tube looked great. We have wonderful light in the bathroom and the lens she selected (at about $20 extra cost leaves an ever-changing rainbow pattern in the room. What's cool about it is, everyone wants to turn off the light when the leave the bathroom. When I went to the 2nd floor of my home to see the installation, it looked pretty sloppy. Huge amounts of tar or roofing sealant all over the roof and flashing. I doubt it will ever leak, but it looks much sloppier than the brochure shows. In fact, I thought of going out and painting the black roofing tar, but later decided it wasn't worth the effort. I am not at all sure that the installation with roofing tar is appropriate for a metal roof, which generally does not have a tarpaper substrate due to expansion and contraction of the metal material, but I assume the contractor knows what he was doing. I hope so anyway. Other than that, the installation went well and functionally and aesthetically, it is very good. We got a $50 home show discount too. I also want to mention that I would hire again only if I could talk to the contractor about the installation and neatness of the job.

We were extremely impressed with how it went! Before the installation our dining room and hallway were extremely dark during the day - requiring us to have lights on to enjoy being in the house. After the install it was night an day, as the solartubes have been the #1 investment in terms of bang for our buck as they brightened the space. The installer, Rory, was also excellent to work with, as he showed up and instantly got to work - did a professional job and made sure there was no mess after he finished. Whole job took about 3 hours. We would absolutely recommend Rory and SolarTex to anyone looking to improve natural lighting in their home.

Received the quote real time. No sales pressure. Called the next day to schedule. Took a little over a week to schedule. They were prompt. Conducted everything the way it was explained.

What a great experience from a home improvement provider. I was impressed with Ron's professionalism and friendliness when he arrived on time for an estimate. Rory, the installer, did an excellent job, was even early, and seems genuinely happy in his job and "bringing light to people's environments". My bathroom is so transformed! I immediately recommended Solartex to my son, who was considering having a skylight installed, and I heartily recommend Ron, Rory, and Solartex to anyone needing the services they provide.

I couldn't say enough about these guys! I contacted Solartex to have a Solatube installed in my kitchen. The consultant, Rory, was able to come out and look at the space within 2 days. I thought I wanted one of the new-fangled kind that has LEDs in it that adjust to the amount of like coming in. Rory advised against that, and instead advised going with a regular (but larger) 14inch tube for multiple reasons. I am glad I listened to him (and saved the money!) because he was right! About a week later he came out to install the Solatube. Only took about 2 hours and the difference is amazing! Rory was pleasant, professional and efficient. I am happy as a clam.

Dustin came out and did the initial visit to survey, give an estimate and show us the options. Dustin was careful to let us know the potential issues regarding the roof/ceiling. We decided to install 2 - 14" SunTunnels. My wife really liked the Optiview diffusors, so that is what we requested. The day scheduled for the install was overcast and "rainy". In fact, it was just before a major storm. He showed up and again warned me about what issues he could find. Due to some vent issues, we moved the position a little. Dustin cut into the ceiling and luckily found no obstructions in both areas. A couple of hours later, we had bright natural light. Even though it was overcast, it was obvious that they would be perfect for adding natural light to our dark LR. Over the next 36 hours, we got 2.5" inches of rain. No sign of any leaks!!!! We are already expecting to use to add some light when we do our kitchen remodel.

The company representative arrived promptly and gave us all the information we needed about the product and the different options such as with or without a light and or vent. He then gave us the quote forthe job. He explained that if we were considering replacing our roof that insertion of the tube was best done at the same time.

We just had our first ever solatube installed and a solar attic fan. the solatube lights up the room just as advertised. From start to finish this was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had with a contractor. The estimate was quick and easy. Ron and Dustin came out for the estimate and Ron's input on size and location was very helpful. Ron came out and did the install and was courteous and professional. He put down drop cloths and cleaned everything up when he finished. Everything turned out great. I highly recommend SolarTex.

ONE workman did all of the work: the estimate and the installation. He had a very cramped space to work in, but was knowledgeable and efficient. We do like the Solatubes so far, but, of course, it hasn't rained since they were installed. We expect they will not leak and that, especially int he winter, we have a nicely lit area. We have noticed wwith two small Solatubes a small increase in temperature in the room, but our thermostat has not noticed. Suggest that other potential customers watch for that--they are really, really bright! I find that most quality work is expensive on our budget.

Last week I noticed that the solar fans were not turning. It was during a rain storm and thought I would check later when the sun was out. On Sunday I checked again. The one fan was not turning. Checking the installation date, I saw that the warranty would expire in 2 days. I immediately called SolarTex on Sunday, left a message. On Monday I called early. The office personnel were looking at my file when I called. They arranged to have a repairman come out on Wednesday. I was assured that the fan was under warranty. On Wednesday I received a call from the repairman who said the current job he was on was taking longer. I could either reschedule or he would be about 2 hours late. I told him it was ok to come out 2 hours later. Barry arrived exactly 2 hours later calling enroute. He was friendly, smiling, and courteous. He replaced the fan with a new one with another 5 year warranty. He also checked the other fan which was working well. SolarTex is the kind of company that I like to use. They keep their word, their employees are courteous, and the customer is upper most in their minds.

As we considered having two tubular skylights installed, there were three companies each handling a different brand of tubular skylight that we ultimately spoke with. The first to come out was Ron from Solartex. I have no doubt that he knows the business and they have a quality product, however, he offered little in the way of constructive suggestions which the representatives from the other two companies did and Solartex's price was by far the highest. They were, however, the first we spoke to and we had not yet contacted anyone else so we may well have gone with them except for two issues. First, when I asked about the differences between their product and two others I had researched, it became very apparent that the way they build up their product is to bad mouth the others. Not a great selling technique. Secondly, when I spoke with the in-office sales associate, she was just shy of rude. No, I take that back, she wasn't and quot;just shyand quot;, she was rude. Perhaps just having a bad day as we all do on occasion, but it certainly did not give us the warm-fuzzies about Solartex. We then decided to look at alternatives, both of which made a more favorable impression. Their quotes were within a very few dollars of each other and, as mentioned previously, a considerable savings over Solartex. We ultimately went with Solar Fanatics who installs the and quot;Natural Lightand quot; brand of tubular skylights. Also to consider, Natural light has a 25-year warranty, the best we found.

They were great. They were very responsive and very professional. We tried several other places that never called back. They were very, very nice and thorough. They did a good job. They made sure that everything was measured accurately and that we got the colors that we wanted. They were a very nice young couple and they made sure that everything was very nicely done. We would definitely recommend them and we would definitely use them again.

Everything went very smooth and easy. I had visited their small showroom the week before just to see the products, then I called back and scheduled the installation. The installer was polite, quick and efficient. He put the sun tunnel in, took care of all the stuff on the roof and explained everything to me in a little under an hour. No mess either. We've had the sun tunnel for over a year now and no problems. My main concern was leaking during a rain storm, but it's been water tight threw several major downpours. I like having the extra light in the kitchen- everything about it works well.

We've had a tube skylights installed in a windowless bathroom in our previous home and loved the results. I ran into these guys at an outdoor festival (Pecan Street Festival). A couple of weeks later went to their showroom and they were very professional and provided a good explanation of the benefits, sizing considerations and estimated cost. We scheduled a home visit for 2 days later and they were on time, quick to survey the space and possible complications. They then provided their recommendations for the size and placement of the skylights. Their recommendation for the living room was opposite my thought for the side of the vaulted ceiling. They then explained their reasoning and it made complete sense and was the right choice. The presented a final price, no pressure and left. I called the next day and scheduled the installation for 3 days later. The entire project took 3 hours and was done perfectly including the cleanup. Both bathrooms had some complexity for locating the tubes due to roofing/structural issues. Because of that - they could not place them perfectly in the center but the alternative location worked/looked fine for the windowless bathroom and was actually better for the other bathroom as the skylight was further away from the window which helped balance the light level in the room. The only issue I can find to complain about is the price. There are cheaper alternatives but I personally am willing to pay for the better quality from the Solatube brand especially because it involves cutting holes in my roof. In the end, I still marked the and quot;Priceand quot; as excellent because I think it's better than and quot;Goodand quot; and I would make the same purchase again without a second thought.
Description of Work: Had (4) Solatube brand tubular skylights with the "OptiView" lens installed. 14" in the kitchen (flat ceiling) 14" in the living room (vaulted ceiling) 10" in master bathroom (flat ceiling) 10" in guest bathroom (flat ceiling and no windows)

I had two solartubes installed in May 2010 and another installed in June. They were prompt in coming out and giving me a detailed estimate for the first two and within 1 week they were installed. The serviceperson was very professional. One tube was installed in the middle of a two-story staircase, with no problem. My roof is very steep, but that also posed no problem. I was so pleased with the results that I had a third tube installed in my kitchen. The same serviceperson came out and was very careful to place the roof opening in a manner that allowed for maximum light. Since installation it has rained very hard and not one leak. I would recommend this product and this company to anyone who wants to have a naturally lit home. However, be careful where you place them, they throw out a huge amount of light on an average day and at night at soft glow.

They were several hours late from their appointment. But once the technician got there, he got right to work and finished quicker than expected. He was polite and cleaned up the work area. I had purchased a much cheaper sun/solar tunnel from a home improvement store but they do not install them and I had a difficult time trying to find someone to install it. So I returned the item to the home improvement store. Even though, I thought the price was high, I really wanted a solar tunnel and this is their only business. They convinced me that their product would reflect more light, was better quality, they gave a warranty and their installers were experienced. I didn't want to worry about damage or leaks from the roof with the installation. I am very pleased with the amount of light that is coming from the tunnel into my very dark house.
