I bought a hot water heater for pick up from sears. When I went to their Austin Grand store I talked to a sales person and decided to buy the installations services too. Installer assigned called and basically doubled the price of the install quoting code required that doesn't exist in my area. I cancelled service and water heater. I spent 6 hours yesterday trying to get someone to confirm in writing my order has been cancelled. I am told by online people to call the store. The store tells me to call the online number. Code requirements are pretty clear and unambiguous. This is a scam. they quote 199 install then in the store add on another 175, then the installer wants to add another 300-400 before he even arrives. no thanks. Give me my money back.

We purchased a Frigidaire HE washer and dryer set. The dryer came damaged twice and it was going to take 3 weeks to get another. Rather than wait for another damaged dryer, I cancelled my order. The customer service of this company is the worst. They kept transferring me to different departments who wanted to transfer me back. NO ONE could answer any of my questions. It has been 30 days and I have yet to receive my full refund. I will never shop there again!

Took a while to be seen, but salesperson seemed fairly knowledgeable once she had time to help. Did not push us toward more expensive models, but explained pros and cons of each. After we had purchased, she even offered to file our rebate claim for us, which she did without a hitch. Delivery also went well for the most part and we are happy with our purchase. Two hitches: the washer came with a drainage hose that wasn't long enough for our set up and I didn't get a call back when I called our salesperson. We decided to make due. Second, one of our salesperson's associates helped us for a bit while our salesperson was busy, and she did try to push us toward more expensive model, so I guess it's a bit of luck of the draw.

Calls to the Sears 'escalation department' and our local store on 1/14/08, 1/16/08, 1/17/08, 1/20/08, 1/21/08 and 1/22/08 have yielded nothing. Sears insists on sending out the same incompetent subcontractor who messed it up in the first place. We initially refused this and insisted on a different installer however they claim that the only other installer in Austin will not get involved with another companies installation. We finally agreed to have the original installer come back out on 1/19/08 - he never called or showed up. The store arranged for him to come back out on 1/22/08 between 9 and 11. He didn't show again. The case manager at the escalation department has been utterly unhelpful and actually hung up on me when I asked to speak to her superior. Faxes sent to our local store and the manager of the escalation department have gone unanswered. We have resorted to reversing the charge on our credit card and filing complaints but still don't have a working oven.
Description of Work: We purchased a double wall oven and installation from Sears. On 1/12/08, the Sears subcontractor came out to install the oven. After he was finished, we noticed that he had removed the junction box. When questioned, he admitted that he just double taped the connection. This is not to manufacturer (Kenmore) installation instructions or to code. The installer tells us that he never uses junction boxes on his installations. We are not confident in his installation and have not turned the oven on. Trying to get Sears to remedy this situation has been an absolute customer service nightmare considering their installer created a fire hazard in our home.

I had 2 tires on the front of my VW Passat that were close to the end of their useful lives. However, I had a full size spare in my trunk that had never been used. They were willing to the replace on the the worn out front's with the same exact tire I had for a spare, then put the spare on the other front. They mounted and balanced a total of 3 tires. The cost of the tire was $118 plus tax, add an oil change, and it all ended up being quite reasonable. The wait was not long since it was a weekday morning, but they could have called right away when it was done, not wait until I returned.
Description of Work: Replace one tire, rotate and balance others.
