Rudy's Painting & Drywall

This was the third time we've used Rudy. He was prompt and professional. I cut out a 2'x3' piece of sheetrock to install bracing for a TV wall mount. Rudy remounted the sheetrock I removed, taped and floated the joints then he retextured the area to match the original. It's difficult to match the existing drag texture but Rudy did a great job. Unless you know what to look for and where, you would never know the wall was repaired. We also had him come back to paint the repaired wall. For both jobs, he protected surrounding areas and was meticulous about his quality even to the point of retouching an area that I thought was fine but it didn't meet his standards. We will hire Rudy again for the next paint/sheetrock job.

They finished the project in two days and did a beautiful job. Left the house very clean. Patched a couple of holes so well that unless you know where to look, and look in the right light from the right angle, you'd never know. Very pleasant, professional, and pride in work well done.

I needed work done on two houses. He met with me on Saturday to estimate the work that was needed. He started as quickly and was done with all of the work by the end of the week. This is the second time that I've used Rudy, and he and his people are great at what they do. The sheet rock was repaired in some areas and were done perfectly. The texturing matched what was there and I could not tell the difference between the existing texture and the patched areas. His painters did a great job as well. They were careful to cover everything and did not leave a mess. I highly recommend Rudy.

Rudy and his team did excellent work and finished within one day. I had wallpaper in the game room that was removed and bedroom repaint, and everything went smoothly. I would hire again.

When asking Rudy detailed questions about whether the drywall would need to be replaced or not ,he wanted to cover the wet drywall and patch up the hole from the leak. I asked what if mold comes through the wall after the work is done because the drywall wasn't taken out, he said he would come back and fix it. I wasn't interested in a temporary solution. When he quoted the price of $350 for a patch job I asked how many labor hours this was and he would not tell me. I advised that I wanted to know so that I could see if that was a reasonable price which seemed high for a patch job. Materials for this job were very cheap so it's all labor costs. I was able to get another bid from a different qualified contractor for 1/3 of the price. My instincts told me I wasn't getting a fair quote from Rudy and I was correct. Nothing makes me more angry than getting ripped off or the run around by contractors.

All of my ceilings are very high and much of the work required a scaffold. The initial price quote was more than I had budgeted so I worked the price down with Rudy. We agreed I would supply all paint and he would only do one coat on the walls (with 1 coat paint that I selected). Though he was willing to do one coat on the walls, he insisted the ceiling would require 2 coats and strongly recommended I buy a specific ceiling paint. This gave me confidence that he stands behind his work. His team was excellent and I truly love the job they did. Such a huge difference in my home!

Rudy did repair work to the drywall and then he textured it. He let it dry for a day then returned and painted it. The repaired wall looks like the original walls next to it. I cannot tell the difference. He did excellent work and I will use him again if I need a painter.

Rudy indicated job would take 4-5 days. They were done in 4. His crew did their best to control dust and minimize the messy scrape work. They took the time to not only make repairs; but, also rescure the drywall to the joist. I would (and have) hired him again to perform other work. After the job was done, he made sure the cleanup was to my satisfaction. ( Even came back the following week to perform additional cleaning.)

They were top notch. I didn't actually compare the price to anybody else but we thought it was fair so we stopped right there. He was excellent, prompt, got done on time, and he did everything he said he was going to do. It was just him.

if Angie offered an A+, I would give that. They did a great job. Rudy is obsessed with doing the job right. After it done in a timely manner and paid for, I noticed a very subtle shading along a main seam when sunlight was coming in thru the window. I called Rudy. My first surprise was that he agreed right away to come out and look at it - after being paid in full. He came back the same day and re primed and painted. then he stopped back by today unsolicited and refloated and painted. He isomer obsessed than I am. I only gave him a B on cost because I don't think he is a low baller, but to be honest, I did not get a separate quote. When he did work for me 5 yrs ago, he was the low bidder and in fact the only guy that would guarantee his work given the conditions of my ceilings. Finally, the same drywall guy and painters that were working for 5 years ago are still working for him. That says a lot . i was perfectly comfortable letting them work in my home even while I was away.

The men arrived on time and all were hard workers, the price was fair, I would and have hired this company again, and will use them in the future. Good group of men and really hard workers, I am very pleased.

Scheduling the estimate was easy. Rudy came out, took a look and provided an estimate on the spot. Covering the walls, floors and removing the light and ceiling fixtures went well. Removing the popcorn texture started well, except that no one thought to check it for asbestos (not a law in Texas for Residential). By the time I thought to check it, it had been drying on the floor for a few days and workers were moving throughout the house. I had a sample checked and sure enough it was positive at 10%. I informed Rudy and he ensured that as little traffic as possible going forward was the norm. The lesson learned is to include daily removal of the texture when it is wet is the way to go to minimize exposure to the rest of the house. The rest of the project went smooth. There were drying issues due to weather which extended the project duration but not Rudy's fault. When the project was completed, I had the whole house tested for asbestos and although between Rudy's initial clean up and my follow up, there were levels slightly higher than what is acceptable at schools. I had to have the air scrubbed for 24 hours to remove the rest. Make sure your HVAC is never turned on when doing these jobs until all clear. What should have cost about 4K ended up costing an additional 1500 to test and clean the air. Last note - I contacted one of the other companies who provided an estimate and they informed me that they would have followed the same process Rudy did. Also, Rudy replaced all the drywall nails with screws which no other contractor mentioned in their quote.

All the services Rudy and his friends provided were excellent and fairly priced.

Rudy was on time and provided a reasonable estimate. Jorge showed up the next week and replaced the drywall and textured the ceiling where the hole was located. The match was perfect.

Rudy was very responsive. He did a great job replacing the wet bathroom ceilings/adjacent walls from water leaks (in 2 bathrooms) and painting them. And the price was reasonable. Overall, nice job!

It has been over a year since Rudy and Jorge finished their work and we still tell everyone we know what a great job they did and what a deal it was. We received another estimate for exactly the same job from another company in the area that was over $800 more than Rudy's quote. We saved even more by the time they were through. Not only did Jorge remove the popcorn and re-texture the ceiling in two rooms and a hallway, we had a wall that needed to be re-floated after a previous owner had done his own work to fill in a built-in. The wall bowed in miserably and, instead of a massive fix i.e. involving lots of Sheetrock and tearing the wall out, Rudy came over and he and Jorge were able to push the wall flush from the other side (a garage closet), secure it with concrete screws in the garage and re-float it from the front. Ingenious!! He only charged me for the cement screws. Incredible. Now it's the best looking wall in the whole house. Jorge also worked with our electrician who installed canned LED lights the same week to patch up the ceiling where the old fixtures were. We're already hoping to use Rudy and Jorge again this fall.

This is the second time using Rudy and Jorge to do some drywall work. We thought their work on our kitchen/dining area was great and friends that saw the before and after agree. We tried to get quotes from other businesses, just for price comparison, but knowing the quality job they had done previously set a high bar for other drywall guys. Fortunately, other contractors were difficult to deal with and/or unresponsive so we went with Rudy. The biggest compliment I can give both of these gentlemen is that in addition to being punctual, responsive, and talented at what they do, they are also contentious about the job they do. We had some tilers install a bathtub tile surround and they included hanging drywall and mud/tape in the quote. Since they came highly recommended we went ahead and accepted the quote. We were not thrilled when they were done but the job seemed passable. When Jorge looked at the drywall hanging he noted that the screws were not sufficiently sunk into the wall and the drywall was loose. Instead of just coming in and floating and texturing the poorly-prepared surface he brought this to our attention and we were able to correct the situation before committing to finishing the walls. This kind of thoughtful and solution oriented attitude is not often encountered in my experience. This is only one situation as we have an older home with tons of quirks but Rudy and Jorge both considered what would be the best course of action in each circumstance and proceeded. Couldn't recommend more.

I called Rudy a few months ago to repair the crown molding in the living room from an internet upgrade gone wrong. Although I had some minor wall damage, I did not have it repaired at the time. I was delighted with the his (employee's) work (careful, clean, prompt, organized, the work looks great, and at a good price). Well, I decided to get the wall repair done after all. Based on my previous experience, I had only one number to call (Rudy's Painting and Drywall). Today, Rudy's team came in repaired and painted the wall. Perfect! He filled small nail holes and a gouge from a drill coming through the ceiling / crown molding and gouging a wall in the living room. I called Rudy to have some drywall patched and painted. He was great at answering my calls and scheduling. Jorge did an awesome job with the drywall patches and matched the existing texture. Rudy later came to paint the patches. I was very pleased with the service and quality of work.

Rudy's crew was great! The quality of the painting was extraordinary. The detail work was excellent. The crew was polite and worked around our needs of the house while doing the interior. Rudy allowed us to purchase the paint as a special allowed us to buy it cheaper than he could. Great job. Rudy also connected us with a contractor to do some carpentry we needed done on our back porch. That too was great quality work. Will definitely call in Rudy for our next project!

Their employee Jorge repaired multiple holes in our walls and ceilings from recent plumbing repairs. He did an excellent job and matched both the wall texture & the popcorn ceiling pattern perfectly. You cannot tell there was ever a problem. Many other drywall repairers do not match things this well. Jorge was friendly, professional and easy to have around. Very nice guy who speaks good English. I understand he has about 17 years experience and it shows. The boss Mr. Rodriguez told us at the start that we wouldn't have to pay him one penny for labor or materials until we were completely satisfied, which is what sold me in the first place. You may find others willing to work cheaper, but this company does it right. I would not hesitate to recommend this company and would gladly use their services again.

He looked over the areas that we felt needed repair and explained the work required to fix them.

Rudy was responsive in communicating with me from the very beginning and it continued throughout the whole process. He fit me in pretty quickly for an estimate on the day I needed/requested. He did what he said he would do the way he said it would be done. He was willing to address all my concerns to my satisfaction which is no small thing because I have high standards of the way I need things done due to chemical sensitivities. He was able to schedule the work to be completed when I needed it done which I am ever so grateful for because I am in the process of selling my house and am working with a timetable. He is intelligent, creative, and wants to help and please his clients. He has crews of people who are very skilled and do really good work. The end product is beautiful and I am going to have him do some more work for me. And, yes, as it has been stated in other reviews, Rudy and his crews respect the property they are working in and clean things up afterward quite nicely. I highly recommend Rudy and his employees.
