Description of Work: PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT MR. BAILEY HAS MOVED OUT OF THE INGLESIDE, TX AREA AS OF 04/01/2011. MR BAILEY HAS APPARENTLY NOT BOTHERED TO CONTACT ANGIE'S LIST TO INFORM THEM THAT HE HAS RELOCATED OUT OF THE AREA. MY WIFE SPOKE TO HIM ON OR ABOUT 04/10/2011 VIA TELEPHONE AND MR. BAILEY TOLD HER THAT HE HAD RELOCATED TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION AND THAT IT WOULD BE PROHIBITIVELY EXPENSIVE TO US FOR MR. BAILEY TO CONDUCT OUTSIDE HOUSE PAINTING AT OUR HOUSE IN INGLESIDE, TX.

It was a little slow getting started, just as far as Rick coming out to look at the work to be performed. Then he got me a bid, then he got me a contract, and it seemed to take a little longer than I would have liked. Once he got started, though, the work was done quickly and very well. He went above and beyond when the paint didn't exactly match, he just painted the entire wall so no one could tell. He was very communicative with his phone calls and checking in.
Description of Work: I needed 4 exterior doors replaced and also an area above a second floor window re-caulked.

I had two bad experiences working with Rick Bailey on the window installation. This is the second one...I hired Rick Bailey to purchase and install 13 replacement windows in my home. Prior to signing a contract with Rick, I had written him and email to confirm what kind of warranty would be included for the windows and the work. He confirmed that the windows would have a lifetime warranty. Once the contract was signed, Rick and a sales rep from Window World, where the windows were being purchased from, came to my house to measure the windows openings. While the representative was there, I asked both he and Rick how the warranty works and how I would receive paperwork for it since the windows were being purchased on my behalf. Rick assured me that he would fill out the warranty papers in my name and address and the paperwork would arrive in the mail. The sales rep proceeded to explain how the warranty is transferable and the process I would need to go through to get it transferred. About a month later after the windows arrived and once Rick's men completed the installation, Rick sent me a word document warranting both the job and the windows himself. I emailed him back stating that he should be providing me with a warranty from the manufacturer or Window World and outlined my concern about him insuring the actual window product and parts himself; should his business fold or what have you and there would be no way for the warranty to be honored was transfered to another owner. Rick's response to me was that the warranty was on its way. A few weeks later after following up with Rick on the warranty, he presented me with a letter written to him (with his name and address) from the sales rep at Window World that the glass was warranted for 20 years. Again I disputed with Rick that he cannot give a warranty for a product that he did not build. The warranty I should have received for the windows should come directly from the builder of the windows and be in my name and address. That not only glass breakage should be included, but also Vinyl Parts Warranty, Mechanical Parts Warranty, Insulated Glass Warranty, Glass Breakage Warranty, Transferable Warranty as it explains on the Window World Website. From previous conversations with Rick and the sales rep at Window World as well as just through common knowledge that I should be receiving a manufacturer's warranty for the windows. Rick then wrote me back saying that since he did not specify in the contract that the window warranty would be coming from the manufacturer, he was covered by giving me his warranty. I called the same sales rep that came to measure my windows and told me about the warranty originally, Hector Gonzales, at Window World to explain the situation. He confirmed that I was supposed to receive the full manufacturer's lifetime warranty for the windows as specified on the website, minus the labor warranty. Within a week the rep hand delivered the warranty paperwork to my home.

Most work was done by a single employee. I am very satisfied with the end result. The full floor wasn't in the original plan, so the work was more expensive and took more time than originally planned, but it was a good change. It can occasionally be difficult to reach rick during the day since he had to visit other job sites, but we were in communication the whole time and I think it went well. There was a little more clean up work left to be done at the end than I had expected, but overall great job. I don't know for sure how competitive the pricing was, but Rick was careful to give a full price breakdown which was much appreciated.
Description of Work: A wall was opened and reframed so that pocket French doors could be added. Another door was closed. Carpet and wood floor in an adjoining room was removed and then a new wood floor was laid down that spanned the now adjoined rooms.

Hired Rick after interviewing 4 other contractors. Rick's price was not the cheapest nor the most expensive. We had a time constraint and Rick said he could meet our needs (weather dependent). Rick came on a Monday with his assistant and work commenced. His assistant did the majority of the actual woodwork, but worked all day for four straight days. There was no "here for a couple of hours" and then disappearing for the rest of the day. Rick was able to match the siding even though it had been discontinued. The majority of the trim was replaced with hardiboard. Painters showed up on Friday and worked straight through the day and had the house painted in one day. True to his commitment, Rick finished the work in 5 days. Rick personally came back on Saturday to patch up some concrete foundation that had broken off during the repairs. I will definitely call Rick for any future home repairs. His prices are reasonable, he adheres to the schedule, and the finished product is first rate.
Description of Work: Repaired and replaced all rotten siding, related trim, and fascia board with Hardiboard. Repaired several rotted rafter ends and soffit sections. Replaced trim on three large arched windows. Painted the entire exterior.

I wasn't sure how we were going to mount the new unit in the existing space and Rick's idea worked out pretty well. I am satisfied with the result.

After interviewing Rick by telephone, I invited him to bid on the project. Rick visited with me and viewed the work to be done. After a second visit, he submitted his proposal and I accepted. We executed the work contract prior to beginning work. Rick always arrived on time and he finished the project without any delay. Rick is a longtime Austin resident and I will not hesitate to call on him again when I am ready to have more improvements made on my home. I highly recommend calling him whatever your remodeling needs may be as he is versed in many disciplines of construction.
