The major design of the house is amazing. However, Kevin’s follow through on the most basic items is just short of criminal. Not to mention, I'm having several problems with the home ALL due to Kevin's shortcuts, unfinished work, and incompetence. I absolutely feel he took advantage of the acceptable point of no return which came down to shoddy work I had to accept or back out of closing, losing my earnest money. This was all prior to the damage I'm experiencing now after the purchase. I don't consider myself a picky person and the thin paint job is the worst I've ever seen. Baseboards were left unpainted, holes unfilled, plus many other items that were on a punch list that was neglected. The third photo is how the closets were left. Some without out support and as long as 8’ for the shelves. Depending on the closet, no clothes rod or insufficient rod supports with 3/4” screws. For the few rod supports installed, they were place too low and not part of the shelf support.".

We found the work to be of poor quality. He did not want to stand behind his work and make it right. He took shortcuts (i.e. painted walls needed more coats, tile work not grouted well, did not use proper shim material in foundation pier and beam work, missing caulking in bathrooms and kitchen). He did not present himself in a professional manner.
Description of Work: My client purchased one of his renovated homes.

Reese Renovations feedback The business owner and contractor seemed to be an honest person, but so many things went wrong because he wasn't here to follow up on the quality of his subcontractors. In the end, we agreed to disagree and walked away. Considering the price of the job, we expected better quality work. For example, it took three tries to get the shingles and flashing correct on the roof. The configuration now "works" but is an eye sore. Two weeks after completion of the project we learned from the city that our structure DID NOT PASS final inspection, a fact not shared by our contractor. (Did he follow up with the city?) Reese Renovations selected the least expensive door option for our porch. The wooden screen doors were poor quality, warped and just would not close correctly. Reese Renovations attempted to fix the problem, however, the end result was two ugly doctored up doors that still did not work. We researched the doorknob materials and learned that online ratings were poor for his selection that we originally approved based on the appearance. I t?s our expectation that a contractor follow up on trends with materials and be aware of any potential problems to avoid purchase of a product that just doesn?t work well. We ended up purchasing a better quality door and new door hardware that the contractor reinstalled. We paid for the door and latch. Reese Renovations provided the reinstallation manpower. We painted the new doors ourselves. During the course of construction, the contractor informed us that he could not obtain the type of wood we originally had requested. We ended up getting treated 4 X 4 posts. Sadly, generic (second quality?) wood was delivered from a home improvement store. Considering the price of our project, it would have been appropriate for the contractor to hand pick the lumber to ensure reasonable quality. Instead, the posts have nicks, dings and shaved off parts. The end result is ugly and requires us to follow up with our own cosmetic work. (At the end of the project, Reese Renovations suggested that we could pay one of his workers for $100 per day to fill, sand, and repaint at our expense. We thought it odd that we?d have to pay for our own quality control?isn?t that the responsibility of the contractor?) Our biggest complaint was the mess created each day. Our yard is full of sawdust and rocks. In the past, we've used contractors who clean up as they work. This was not the case for Reese Renovations. I am still finding bits of paper and plastic as well as wood and tree twigs/roots, nails and rusted saw blades everywhere in the yard. Our overall yard and landscaping suffered significantly as a result of constant traffic. The cement contractor actually removed two installed paving stones from a side walkway so that they could create small ramps across different surfaces as they were moving concrete in wheel barrels from the driveway to the back yard. (Unbelievable!) We have dogs that we kept away from the construction area for the duration of the project. However, once the construction was completed and our pets had full run of the yard, we realized that they were eating some of the food wrappers left around, mostly blown to the ground. After painting, a worker cleaned up using a faucet on the side of the house. Now the paving bricks under the outdoor faucet have permanent paint stains. The concrete did not dry very well due to the cold and wet weather. Neither the concrete subcontractors nor Reese Renovations took measures to protect the vulnerable concrete that sustained animal footprints overnight and carpenter footprints during the afternoon of the following day. Since the area was not cleaned up as an ongoing practice, the concreted appeared permanently stained and mottled. In defense of the contractor, he did assist (and paid his own workers) with installation of slate tile to cover the porch concrete. Of course, we paid for the 300+ square feet of slate as well as the adhesion materials and grout. We still need to apply grout, a tedious job. Our front gate came loose and broke because of the constant opening and shutting (slamming). During the repair, Reese Renovations decided (independently) that the issue was our problem because he determined that the posts were rotten and eaten up by termites. He made the repair and then charged us $500. Sadly, we had planned to install a new wrought iron fence in the front later in the year. No doubt the old gate would have broken eventually, but notification of the charge could have been made BEFORE the repair so we could make the choice to repair ourselves with different materials and save $500. Our experience was disappointing. We do not recommend.
