We have had good service up until we had a crisis over Memorial Day weekend. Our pump blew and with water spewing in the air we flooded our neighbors yard. We managed to get everything turned off. We called Pristine Pools and were told he (Eric) could not come out until two days after the holiday- Wednesday. We called him again on Wednesday to get an idea of timing and he said sometime in the afternoon as he was busy doing invoicing. He called us back around 3 pm to tell us it would be between 6:00-6:30 p.m., maybe 7 pm. At 7:15 p.m. we called to find out where he was. We were concerned that it was getting too late. He immediately lost his temper saying "you mean to tell me that I am bending over backward to get to you when it is getting dark and you are telling me it is too late?" I explained that, although we understand about the holiday, we did expect a little better customer service. Eric got very angry and began cursing and saying the customer is not always right and that we are lucky to have someone who gives a **** about our pool and we would be lucky to find anyone else who gave a ****. We were then informed that this conversation was over and that the final bill would be in the mail. Good service aside, no one wants or deserves this type of attitude and unprofessionalism.
Description of Work: This was a weekly service of our pool for over a period of two years.

I'd like to start off with a simple statement, as I did when this company showed up to estimate the price and scope of work. "I just want the pool to work" That was the goal. I was negotiable on price, but the price was low anyway. The initial repair of the equipment, the cleaning, draining and filling all went well. When we started to diagnose the leak, the whole process started to fall apart. I had assumed that the repairs from last year had not been completed correctly, so we started in those areas. It turned out that it wasn't anything that obvious, and so I started a daily ritual of filling and checking for leaks. This was a high demand time of year for pool people, so I chalked up his erratic appearances and non-appearances to pressure to complete other projects. I was not in a hurry so I attempted to casually remind him, on occasion, that the work was not yet done, that I still owed him money, that some of his tools are still at my residence. All to no avail. His suggestion that one of the inlets was leaking, and that puttying it would probably stop the leak turned out to be correct, and we were able to stop the leak on our own. So the pool does work. We had to complete the project ourselves. I still have not seen him since I started diagnosing the leak problem in early May. The only reason that I would not use this company again is that I could not rely on anyone's showing up. When he did show up, the work was done quite well.

Eric showed up on time and I described what I needed. I wanted the valve replaced, the filter basket replaced, and the pool cleaned - the simple things. I also described the longer-term things I needed, including weekly servicing, and repair of the broken Polaris booster-pump pipe. That latter issue is a doosey because it involves taking up some tile. We agreed that he'd do the simple things up front. We had scheduled him to get started the next week on Monday, though I get a call Sunday indicating that he'll be there on Tuesday. By-the-way, Eric's a very nice guy. So he gets to work on Tuesday, and later informs me that we really should just drain the pool because it is such a mess. I agree and he drains it. In the mean-time he fixes the pool valve, and then cleans it very well. But that's when the problems start. He starts refilling the pool. After it gets to the top on the second day (I can't WAIT to see my water bill) he turns on the pump. At this point, I'm relatively happy. But then the water level starts to go down. I ask him about it, and indicated to him that I've had a problem before with a seal around the pool light that he should check it out. He says he will. But the next day the pool is 2/3 empty, and I call him to see if he has taken a look at it. He says he had come by and that the light looked fine but I have a "suction leak" in the main drain and that I'd need to turn off the pump and refill the pool, and then only run the skimmer. I had two problems with this response - first, he didn't really take ownership of getting the work done. I felt like he was just someone doing me a favor as opposed to someone who was getting paid to get a job DONE. It became more of what "I" needed to do, as opposed to what he would do. The second problem is that this "suction leak" he referred to didn't seem to make any sense. So I put on my work clothes (exactly what I was trying to avoid) and went out to the pool to see what was going on. It turns out that he had opened the valve to the broken Polaris booster pump pipe, and that the pump was just pumping water into the ground - so I closed that valve. I told him of this issue, and asked if he would come by and seal the light before refilling the pool. His response was "I think WE need to make sure that the light is leaking" before he comes back out. At that point I realized that he was not the type of help I needed. So I told him that "I would take it from here." If I was going to do the work anyway, no need to pay him. He said "OK" and had his invoice to me within minutes...for a job half-done. I sealed the light, I refilled the pool, I turned on the pump, now I'm looking for someone to clean the pool weekly. It won't be these guys.
Description of Work: Clean-out of pool, replacement of a broken pump valve, and preparation for the swimming season. The intention, too, was to go on a weekly maintenance schedule and do longer-term repairs. He did a good job of the clean-out and pump repair...but didn't complete the job of getting the pool ready. I think maybe he is just too busy and my project took a back-seat. My pool is an average-sized pool, but is somewhat old and there are a few things that are either broken or finicky. It was covered and dormant for the winter and I didn't run the pump due to a broken valve. This year I decided that I needed help - I didn't want to spend the hours necessary to fix the problems and get the thing clean. So I consulted Angie's List and picked this company out.

There is really no story. We called them, he came and did the repair work in a short time, and was clean, courteous and professional.
Description of Work: He put in a new electric automatic timer and fixed the 6-way water switch. We thought the price was a little high, but feel the professional service was worth sticking with this company.

Member made a typo mistake, the price was $439.00, not 4,390.00. A new time clock and a new key-valve assembly with spider gasket for a D.E. filter. Great folks, enjoyed working with them. Thanks for the positive review!

The personnel do a terrific job, particularly as my pool is somewhat problematic with many trees surrounding it. They have gotten it into great shape and are maintaining it really well. In comparison with other pool services I have tried, they always show up and are never satisifed until they have it right. I plan to use their services indefinitely.
Description of Work: Pristine Pools provides on-going service for my in-ground pool. They perform weekly visits @$40 per trip + chemicals. Average cost per month is $200.00
