It was easy to schedule an appointment for an estimate with Jim. He was able to start work right away. He arrived on time. He estimated the work would take around 3 hours (which seemed too good to be true), but it turned out to take about 7 hours. He purchased the paint per our specifications to match paint colors we were already using in the rooms. He painted the molding before installing it. Then cut the molding with an automatic saw in our front lawn. Installed with a nail gun. Then cualked the nail holes and the crease between the wall/ceiling and the molding. After this, he repainted the molding. I think 7 hours was quick for all the work he did. The quality of work is good. There are a few seams where the molding meets that are a little noticeable, but nothing you would see if you weren't really looking for it. Considering we had an estimate for the same work come in at $1,200.00 NOT including paint, this was well worth it!!! After the work was completed, I googled the company out of curiosity and noticed quite a few bad reviews. If I had read them before the work was complete, I would never have gone with this company, but I'm kind of glad I didn't see the reviews because the work turned out great.
Description of Work: Jim installed crown molding in our living and kitchen areas. He painted and caulked the molding as well.

They came in and what they did was put the laminate right over the tiles instead of ripping it up so now there is a dip in it wherever there is tile. The person who did it, I can't find his address. He kept making appointments and he has never shown up to fix it. I lost a lot of wages to set up a lot of appointments and for him not to show up. The price was actually pretty good because it was about $1,200.00 cheaper than the other bid I had gotten. If the job had been done right it would have been a good price but now I am going to have to spend more money to fix it. The material was good quality but the labor wasn't very good. The workers were doing really good but he would never show up to check on them. He wouldn't bring some of the supplies over too. He said they never call him but I witnessed them trying to call him . It was always one excuse after another. I think if he would have come by and given them some supervision it would have been a fine job. They didn't have the proper materials.
Description of Work: I had all the carpets in my house ripped up. They put down laminate carpeting. It's almost 2400 square feet.

To his credit up front, he's a personable guy, and his pricing was moderate for what we had done. Job was primarily tile, ceiling re-texture, and adding walls and doors. He was earnest at the beginning, and eager to begin. Credit him with cutting a reasonable price for what he did. Disappointed greatly, however, primarily for the following reasons: he was highly unreliable in terms of either showing up or even communicating when he'd be there; regularly left his crews unsupervised, resulting in the workers misunderstanding what they were supposed to do or being short of supplies or in doing work that was (to both John's and our later inspections) and our obviously substandard; would frequently show up later than he had planned with us (and later than his crew) yet still would need to leave shortly thereafter make parts runs, leaving crews short of supervision and supplies; poor quality around the details (obvious gaps in caulking & grout; highly uneven tiles; poorly filled in nail marks in trimwork; door jambs and casing poorly cut); left a damaged ceiling behind for a long time, promised to repair it, but never did; still has not completed the punch list items that he said (several times) that he'd be back to fix; and often misrepresented so substantially the likely time required that we began to feel like he was actively misleading us. I don't expect high-dollar superb craftmanship for the dollar he charged and the budget we have, but the work done was honestly obviously sloppy. Mind you, this was a live-in remodel, so having an honest idea of when he'd show up and how long the disruption would take is pretty important to us. I understand when things take longer then estimated, particularly if unexpected difficulties arose. I worked as a coordinator for a remodeler many years ago, so while I amHowever, almost all of the delays and schedule slips were due to his management of the task and team -- not due to uncovered structural or technical challenges. He is personable and earnest to begin; but he demonstrates little desire to see the job done to a high level of quality. We honestly felt forgotten about even while his crew had half of our house torn open and were there. As constructive criticism: to get further referrals and follow on business, spend much more time and energy ensuring the work meets your own subs, and stop disappearing when your customer wants to know what is going on and when. Nothing more frustrating to a homeowner who is spending a once-in-a-decade chunk of home improvement funds than to feel like they didn't get their money's worth or the reasonable attention from the provider.
Description of Work: Replaced 1000 sq ft of carpet with ceramic tile; built three partition walls; installed interior doors; scraped and retextured popcorn ceilings.

DO NOT USE PARAMOUNT INTERIORS I met with John, the owner of Paramount Interiors on two separate occasions to determine the flooring work required at my home. The intial quote was for him to install laminate flooring throughout my kitchen, living room and hallway; however, I decided to wait until after the first of the year to complete this portion of the job. In an effort to check his work I asked him to provide me with an inclusive quote to do the installation of laying the ceramic tile I already had purchased for my bathrooms and laundry area. He quoted me $2.00 per square foot for this piece; however, he ended up charging me for materials on top of this. Initially he was scheduled to arrive at 9 a.m. and be done by 3 p.m. My mother was in town so she stayed at the house so that someone could be there while the work was being done and I was at work. He showed up three hours late and still had not completed the job at 6 p.m. He left the toilet in the master bath sitting in the bathtub without any regard to open sewer hole he left to be finished. He told me that he would be back at 5:45 p.m. the next day to finish the job of grouting the master bathroom, touching up the area and reinstalling the base boards. After waiting around for someone to show up on this Friday night, I finally sent his worker away when he arrived at 9 p.m. because I didn't feel comfortable with this being done so late as I am a female who lives alone. He told me he would be back the next day. He only arrived an hour and a half late the following day. I had spoken to Jon and told him the issues I had (poorly cut tile, gaping holes between the tile and baseboards, missing grout, missing base boards, uneven tile, etc) and was assured that his worker would address these issues when he returned to complete the job. Unfortunately, his worker informed me that he wasn't getting paid for being there that day and that Jon would have to fix the problems himself. He did not have time. He grouted maybe 70% of the master bathroom and then left. I emailed with Jon about the work that was still outstanding and he set up a time to come out and take a look at what still needed to be done. He showed up 45 minutes late to this appointment as I was walking out the door to leave. He asked me to send him a list of the items that needed to be fixed so we could finish the job. I did this and have never heard from him. I have three unfinished areas of his sloppy tilework. I could've done this as my first time out and came out with a much better final product. He was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful of my time. Unfortunately I paid him at the end of the first day so i'm out of luck. Now I will have to hire another contractor to finish the job, purchase more tile and start all over again. DO NOT USE PARAMOUNT INTERIORS.
Description of Work: Installation of tile in two bathrooms and laundry room, roughly 80 square feet.

After a horrible experience with another contractor for painting and tile in our new home, we contacted Jon at Paramount Interiors to finish the wood laminate flooring. He sounded experienced and wanted to help us out by giving us a "great deal" on the price per square foot for installing the wood laminate. I can't help but to keep thinking after this whole experience: You get what you pay for! After some delays with the shipment from Lowes we finally got the product, set the date and he said it would be 2 days to install. When taking the preliminary measurements to see if we had enough product I told him what the other contractors had said for measurements and then he told us what he said the measurements would be. His was higher. I had waited nine days for the product and wanted this to be done so we called Lowes to see how much sq. footage was in each box to see if it would be enough. When I told them what Lowes said he replied " that will be enough". He now said that this was not what he said and that it wasn't his fault we ran out for the install and my reply is "If you didn't agree that it was enough why didn't you tell me to order more in the meantime". This explains the blameless attitude and lying that this inept contractor practices. Wait, it gets worse. So when we did run out he said he would order more for us at his discount and that when he gets it he will contact us. He lied. Four days later he admitted that he never ordered the product and that he was still waiting to hear from his guy at Lowes. Funny, after I went to Lowes it was ordered and processed the next day and got it in a week. I told him of all of his discrepancies that needed to be fixed in the meantime while we were waiting for his "order" of our flooring to come in. They were: The stairs nose molding was nailed down by Jon leaving three small holes in the wood. It's obvious and when I had some other contractor come to inspect the stair nose he said the hole is not going away and that he should have just glued it. Since he was from Lowes and the product was ordered through them I think they were right on the money. Jon's install ruined the product from the beginning. His cutting of the product especially in the closets was jagged. Why couldn't they have cut a straighter line? They left a half inch gap between one of the pieces near the master bathroom. They left a quarter inch gap at the ends of the stair steps on about half of them. Measuring to be flush is a challenge for Jon and his crew. The laminate install was below quality but before that we also hired him to strip the sealer off our slate tile and reseal it. He did restrip the tile and reseal it but we noticed because of the poor job by the last contractor that the grout needed to be cleaned as well. So we hired him to do that. He left some guy to take care of that who in turn got his wife or girlfriend to help out. They did most of it but near the end you can see where they stopped and didn't do the rest. I was working outside and didn't get to see the final product but in the morning I did tell Jon and told him again later in text but he didn't care. He even said in later text that it was finished. What? "You never came by to inspect the finished product" I said. How can you judge otherwise? He took $75 for a fix that he was supposed to do to my front door threshold grout. I'm sure he enjoyed that because he never talked about it until I reminded him in a text. I told him that me and my family were moving on a Friday and we would be thirsty so I asked if he could hook up the water line in the new refrigerator and I would pay him back. This was in addition to all the other fixes he was supposed to do as explained above. He never showed up that Friday and when I asked him why he didn't show or call he said he had transmission trouble. He then said he would show up Monday to fix the loose ends while waiting for the laminate. He again never showed or called. Tuesday he texted that he would be there between 2 and 3 pm. He never showed or called. I waited for him twice and he didn't bother to call or show. The Friday night was the one that made me mad the most. My family and me were sitting there hot, sweaty, and thirsty from working in the sun all day. If he wasn't going to make it he could have called. We would have picked up some cold drinks on the way. Again, he didn't care. If he refutes all of this I have the texts to prove it. After all of this he texted me that his not showing didn't inconvenience me in any way. My time is apparently not important. He said he would refund $40 for the job he didn't finish. Never did and never will along with the $75 for the front door threshold grout job. While Jon's employee was cleaning the grout late that night he told me that Jon had the keys to enter the house and instead of turning around and returning the keys so his employees could get in he had them pry open the door. Feel good knowing that about your contractor? Thief as well as immoral. If Jon wants to rebut this review I will show the pictures I have of the work he did to anybody if they want to see them. Just contact me at jdvolosin@yahoo.com. Lastly, Jon told me in a text that he did me a "favor" for doing the job he did and at the price quoted. Really? Jon you never had to take the job offered so don't whine about your commitments. I could not have him return to the job after THREE no shows and unwillingness to refund (and also lie about it) for work not finished. I think that shows a person who you can't count on to do what they say anyway. I even told him I was going to leave this review and by not refunding the money I would just add that to the list as well. Didn't seem to care but thinks he did nothing wrong. Wow!
