The handyman was on time, friendly and professional; he knew what he was doing. There were problems with some but not all of window treatments which required a reorder but when we are ready to have the rest installed we will request him again.

Tech arrived on time, completed the job as request & items worked great. My husband was impressed with the job & hired him to return the following week to tackle putting up a screen door on our back porch (something he would not have enjoyed doing!) We will certainly use this company again.
Description of Work: Purchased three hour door maintenance deal & had weather stripping & doors aligned on 3 doors. Also, hired technician to return the following week to hang new screen door on my back porch.

I was hesitant to pay for hours of work instead of projects-- I mean, the workers could just goof off for 40 hours and still get paid, right? Well, I came up with 40 hours of work, & then a little bit more, just in case. John and David finished all my work in 7 hours (14 labor hours). I had to come up with a lot more work. They worked quickly, remained polite and professional even when the work got frustrating. They did high-quality work, paying attention to detail. I can't recommend them highly enough.

We had a back door that really needed adjusting/fixing. That was the reason for us to contract the service. Other doors in the house needed very minor adjusting that I could have done easily myself, but having the 'professionals' coming, we thought we might as well have those checked by them too. After all, they were going to be there for 3 hours(!)... Much to my dismay, the guy just came to tell us that the problem back door needed to be replaced. He then spent about 30 minutes (yes, just 30 minutes) tightening some hinges on other doors, and he left!

That is not our fault and we did what we were sent out to do! There are times when things cannot be fixed and has to be replaced. It went okay although I was not particularly impressed with the company. There was a mixed up on time. They were supposed to be here at noon but the repairmen showed up at 8:00 AM. I would use them again if I needed to but, I am willing to go with some body out there who is more responsible.

It was incredibly difficult finding a company to fix our shower. Some mysterious leak was rotting away the baseboards and drywall in the master bath, and had seeped through the walls into other rooms. After a month of getting nowhere, I found OnCall and scheduled a consultation. Beau came out first to do the estimate: he was on time and knowledgeable about likely causes for the issue. He returned the estimate to me via email within a day or so and called to make sure I received it. After not hearing back from people and having to chase down other estimates, this was nice. I had given him a hopeful budget for the entire project and he came back slightly under, which was even nicer. We set a start date for about a week later. A few unanticipated issues came up when tearing into the walls the first day but they were dealt with and I was kept informed as things unfolded. Everything was done in phases - demo and airing out the water damaged areas, then replacing plumbing, drywall, sheet rock, tile, and so on. Julie in the office was amazing and called me just about every day to let me know what the next phase was, check my schedule to make sure I knew when people would be in my house, and let me know any additional costs for things that popped up. When they found an additional leak in the guest bathroom that originally we thought was related to the master bath issues but turned out to be something different, they sent their plumber back out to look at it and he was able to fix the issue in about 2 hours for a very reasonable cost. Every worker who came to my house was friendly and considerate of our space. I have a 13 month old son, so keeping him out of their way was a challenge but whenever possible they would work around baby gates or having to keep doors closed. The only negative was that the project was estimated 2 weeks and ended up taking closer to a month. There were a few instances of workers being late and one no-show, but 90% of the time everyone was punctual, and I understand that things happen. Part of the longer completion time was probably due to my own schedule as well. Overall we're happy with the work: the shower looks beautiful, everything is neat and clean, and most importantly, no more leaking! It's a tremendous load off our minds having this issue behind us and we're thankful we found OnCall to help.
Description of Work: Completely redid the shower in the master bath due to water damage, including plumbing, drywall/sheetrock, tile, replacing the shower pan, and installing shower fixtures and shower door; replaced damaged baseboards in several rooms; fixed a separate leak issue in guest bathroom.

David from OnCall was so helpful during his first visit that I asked him back at regular price (an incredibly reasonable rate for all of the work he did) to complete some more projects. He was early both visits and worked quickly but very carefully. He was respectful of both my home and time. He had creative ideas to address the oddities of my home and talked through his repairs for me so I can handle some of them on my own in the future. I?ll definitely be calling David and OnCall again when I need more handyman help.
Description of Work: Minor plumbing repairs, fixed some termite damage in the baseboards and tile, replaced the weather stripping on my front door and shower, added length and a door sweep to a back screen door, replaced a towel rack, and changed the light bulb in my garage door Genie among other projects.

I purchased 3 hours of drywall work as a special deal. 1. After the serviceman arrived he said he needed to pick up supplies from Lowes which is 10 miles away. I suggested he use Home Depot since it is only 3 miles away and I had a Home Depot gift card for him to use. He said he needed to get the supplies from Lowes, and arranged for them to call me for permission to use my credit card for the $15.00 purchase. 2. He asked for permission to use my downstairs guest bathroom but within an hour I found him coming out of my upstairs bathroom. There was no need for him to be upstairs in my home since the work requested was all downstairs. 3. He used my kitchen sink to rinse off his tools. He was stopped during this process and was told that was not appropriate. 4. He spilled compound on the floor and did not adequately clean it up. I will not use this company again.

The customer service per se was great. Julie always answered the phone promptly and passed on messages. Anthony patiently answered all the questions I had. They were very careful about putting down plastic and keeping the area clean, though I had to remind one of the guys at the very start. The basic demolition and replacement went faster than they said, and they didn't complain about the mouse filth in the ceilings (and they would have had every right -- yeccchh!). The painters did a good job -- they identified the correct paint in the many different cans left by the previous owners in the garage and thereby matched the existing walls. I wanted as much good insulation in the ceiling as possible, not just one layer. We worked it out on the day, but I should have gotten it specified in the estimate. I'm deducting points for two reason: * The guy they got to put up the new sheetrock and insulation was a fine framer, but didn't have experience with installing insulation or doing the little bit of plumbing that was needed. What he did should be OK, but it could have been done more properly. * The painter was scheduled for Tuesday morning but apparently had a family emergency. I've had those, so believe me, I understand. But there were communication breakdowns, so the office and I didn't hear about it promptly. I had to work from home two days, and the reschedule wasn't until Friday.
Description of Work: In the ceilings of three rooms, replaced sheetrock and insulation that had been fouled by mice. And painted the new sheetrock.

I found them to be courteous and very upfront about what issues arose. They kept in contact and were neat with their work. I would recommend them.
Description of Work: They installed an attic ladder to replace the one that broke. I had previously purchased the replacement ladder but it was a narrower ladder than the one that we were replacing so the drop down had to be re-framed to fit it. It took more time than I expected. And it took longer than I would have preferred for them to get the finishing work and painting done. Longer as in days and extra calls.

These people are to be avoided. It took 8 hours for their handyman to fill a few nails holes and paint over it, and spot painting some other area in the house and power wash the patio, garage and driveway. This is a job that takes 4 hours max to do (prep job included) and this is generous. And I know it because the same job was done twice before, by other handymen, in our rental property. I contacted OnCall about the problem and their answer was, for short, that I am an idiot and don't know how handymen work. How convenient. I checked again with our new handyman and he confirmed that the job was only a 4 hours work. He also completely smashed the estimate from OnCall on a 2ft x 2ft tile job consisting of "2 guys for a whole day". No, it's a one man job done in 4 hours. Avoid this company.

We went over that when you called in. All projects have steps and a process that you follow. You have to get out your tools, do the job, things have to dry, you have to clean up, put up your tools etc. This is called prep time, doing the job and clean up. That’s forever job he does. All this is included in the 8 hours you purchased. I let our project manager take a look at your list and he said for all of that work it would take about 2 to 3 days. I think John got a lot of it done. He did as much as he could get done in his 8 hours and you made it clear to him that you did not want him to go over. He even called you to come over before his 8 hours were up to go over the things he did not finish but you did not show up. Sometimes someone’s comprehension of a job is not the reality of it.

I had the bedroom ready to paint and it had one dresser in it. He brought in a dirty drop cloth with grass on it and it was everywhere. The room was spotless before that. I offered to tape up the baseboard and window but he said he was good at it and didn't need me to do it. Come to find out a little later, he said he didn't see very well. I purchased the roller, pan and paint and I offered him a new brush to do the fine lines. He didn't use the roller nor the new brush for the edging. I paid him $121 extra because he was so slow that he couldn't get the walls done in the 4 hours and he never got to the closet. He did put up the ceiling fan, but that only 20 minutes. The walls still do not look right because he didn't use the right roller. He also dropped paint on the carpet several times (just a a very messy job). I talked to the company in advance letting them know what kind of paint I was going to use and they knew in advance that I need someone who knew how to paint. Very dissatisfied with the finished product and would never recommend them to anybody.
Description of Work: He was supposed to paint a 10 X 10 bedroom (2 full walls and 2 half walls and a closet) and was to put a ceiling fan and light.

They sent this guy out and he repaired it. He kept wanting to do other things. I would not use them again. There were no additional charges because I would not let him do anything. The price was good but the service was kind of shady. The fact that I want something done, I want them to come and just do that and not be critical of everything else around. For example criticizing my deck and how it needed to done and how he could come out and do that. I would tell a friend to just stay clear and not hire them. I don't know if it is the company or someone they hired, because he was kind of creepy. He kind of freaked me out.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal for $149 for 4 Hours of Wood Rot Restoration and Repair. He replaced some of the fascia boarding underneath the edges of the house.

They recommended during the process, pulling out a few more tiles on the floor to level it. They ended up taking out 20 tiles to ensure everything was level. It was reviewed by the project manager and priced to me. I said I would approve it as long as they could match the tile. The tile was removed and as of today, the tiles haven't been matched and are still missing from the floor. The upstairs shower - The project manager came and showed the demo crew what to demo. An hour later I checked on their progress and they had demoed the entire shower in both rooms. The project manager admitted it was their fault and they would make it right. I had to pick out new tile and pay for it and was supposed to be reimbursed for them. I never was. This was supposed to be done in a week. They would not show up when they were supposed to . The work was unbelievably poor. For some unknown reason, they removed more tiles from both bathrooms (an entire row). Have to now replace both floors in both bathrooms. They broke my toilet seat from standing on it in one of the bathrooms. They said they would put up plastic barriers to eliminate some of the dirt and they would clean up afterwards. They did not. Everything was covered in dust and dirt. I had to hire cleaning people to come clean up their mess. Multiple times they said they would get it fixed and it never happened. They said they had matching tiles ordered and on the way in emails and on the phone. A week later they said they were ordered and on their way again, when in actuality they had never been ordered. When pushed about it, they sent me an email that said they had not been ordered. I gave them 2 opportunities to fix everything, but every deadline was missed. I fired them for unreasonable slow progress and I requested a refund and there was no response. I called the office to request the same, again, no response.
Description of Work: Was going to put in new shower pans and remove one side wall and install glass panels where the wall use to be. Then, replace a few broken tiles in the kitchen with matching tiles (they said they could match them)

Dear [Member Name Removed], We definitely do not like the way this turned out. There are times that people and companies are not a good fit. That being said… Some people that have never been through a remodel may have an expectation that may not be realistic and their comprehension for the time frame for the job is just not right. There are different steps and procedures that have to be taken. There is dry time, clean up time, getting out their tools etc. There are different people that do different things at different times and all of this takes time. It doesn’t mean that we are slow. It is just a process that goes with ever project. The problem sometimes lays when the customer thinks they know better than the contractor and won’t let the job get done in the proper steps. Then the conflict begins and unfortunately may never get straighten out. There are never two project that are alike and there are always problems that come up that you don’t expect and with time you get them corrected. But people have to give you that time and not demand something that cannot realistically be done at that moment! As for as your tile it says in your estimate that we would match it as best we could and you never liked any sample that we brought to you (4 times) and that put the job behind. Also there is always dirt and dust with any project and you did not give us time to clean up. The twenty tiles that were taken up in your kitchen was the cause of your error. You took it upon yourself to tell them to take them up. We didn’t do it on our own. We may have made a mistake in your bathroom but that had been all worked out, but you thought you knew best and did not give us time to finish. In the end when we would not respond to you it is because we no longer wanted to be bullied! People just need to know that remodels can cause stress. The job never gets done quickly enough and there are always unexpected problems to solve. If they would just set back and trust the people they hired (who are the professionals) and let them do their job the way it needs to be done then it would truly turn out that they will be happy with their project for years to come. David called and asked if he could come earlier, which was better for us. He was polite and went straight to work. Everything was done in a timely manner and was done right. I would most definitely recommend this company to others!!
