O'Brien Garage Doors - Austin

I had a coupon (not an Angie's List coupon) to install opener for $400. He said the coupon would not cover it because I needed additional parts.

The repairman was very quick and thorough. Our new garage door opener is so much nicer than our builder grade one. Plus, his suggestion to replace the wheels on the door made a huge difference. Previously, the door was very loud and would shudder when opened. Highly recommend.

The first gentleman that came out was nice but after that when I called the company back with issues they were rude. They are unethical, I told them not to come back. Very bad experience.

Arriving at home at 10 pm on Wednesday from work and surprise, the garage door opener did not work. Checked Angie's List Booklet, found O'Brien Garage Door, called set up an appointment for Thursday approx. 11 am-1 pm. I received a call from the office and advised the installer's appointment was taking longer than expected. Advised would be at my home between 2 pm -2:30 pm. He did arrive within that time frame. He checked my unit and found some electrical issues. Gave me some options and decided to purchase a new unit. James Haley, is the local supervisor and is very friendly and professional. I would request this company again and would refer them to anyone and hopefully I won't need a service call soon but I would hope the representative would be James Haley.

We used them this year and I think the service was adequate. We forgot to present a discount coupon and, obviously, they would not offer one. Otherwise the work was fine and I think we have used them even before this past year. I don't have any complaints. They are average; I don't know that they are above, but I would say that being endorsed by Angie's List counts for a lot. I think they are, maybe, one notch above average.

They were quick. The work seems to be fine. The interaction was good. Their price was about medium.

Obrien service garage door in January and the brace pulled off of the door again. There had been no service on the door from 1996 when I moved in until January of 2014. House was built in/around 1986 and I moved here in 1996. All I have ever done was to install garage door opener, but had never done anything more since Sears always looks and says everything is okay, until the brace from opener pulled off the garage door in January and again two weeks ago. I called O'Brien and they sent out technician in January who re-installed bracket/remount, struts and tuneup service ($256 w/coupon). He mentioned a new door in January, but I could only repair at that time and I really didn't think I needed a new door. The bracket pulled off about 10:30 AM Friday, I called and they were able to work me in (1 - 4:00 PM) and he arrived a little after 4:00. The technician works between their office between Austin and surrounding areas. He was going to replace with more sturdy bracket and then he notice the springs were rusted and beginning to separate and then upon inspection the wheels/pulley that on both sides, one had the sides falling off and the wire could have come off the track, the rails were bent and the door had area that previously been repair, unnoticed by me for the past, almost 20 years. He still said he door a more sturdy bracket and then he told me that the things I would be replacing were included in a new door, so I chose to go with the new door after I saw all of the many drilled holes in my door and cracks in the metal and where one panel was not flush with another and the bent rails. The install was scheduled for the following Tuesday with the company Legacy through Obrien. Scheduled for 8 am, but he didn't make it until 12:30 pm because the color I desired was not available at time of pick up and he had to drive to San Antonio and then to Austin for install. He was a one guy installer and did the whole thing. He was completed with garage door replacement by 2:15/2:30. He adjusted the opener for the door and I was glad for the service. Cost $1020, which included new rails, non rubber rollers, tear down, haul off and 3 year warranty on door and labor. Nice and courteous and seems to know his business. I will followup because I noticed a nice new, shiny screw and it may have been on garage edge for 7 days without my notice, or it could just be an extra screw that was dropped and not located during the install, or it could have dropped of of door. I will follow up just to be sure, but everything looks good and no more squeaks.

It went well. After he fixed coils I asked to reset the garage door opener. We ended up buying a new one. He same w me to home depot to purchase.

Great! I called in response to a coupon I got in the mail. Over the phone, they explained the different types of garage door openers, and we took their advice to get the belt driven option (smoother and quieter). The tech they sent out, James, could not have been nicer. He was courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient, and did everything as expected. He also helped us with extra clickers and automatic control from the cars. He was very attentive and wanted to make sure we understood the codes, etc before he left. I was very pleased with the service, and would definitely hire this company again.

This is a good company that responds and completes what they said they are going to do. This is the second time we have used this company and would recommend it to anyone with garage door issues. The initial call was made in the evening with a technician showing up early the next morning. Same evening service was offered, but we declined due to the extra costs.

I just wasn't quite ready for the job to be started yet. Nothing really stood out that I recall. He was knowledgeable. I just wanted to get an idea of what it would cost.

I liked the results and the personnel that came out to the house. I liked the timeliness of the work. The only problem was that it took a while to get them here schedule-wise. They had a promptness issue. The garage door is working fine. The price was good.
