The day of the move the guys arrived right at 8am. They were very polite, and reviewed all the details of the agreement with me again before they started. The crew of 3 was super-fast and efficient, while at the same time very careful. They moved all of the furniture, boxes, and appliances (washer/dryer, refrigerator) from my 2/2.5 townhouse to my new home (1 mile away). This included disassembling and reassembling furniture, and moving several large, heavy items (washer/dryer, solid-wood desk) from
upstairs. All of this was done in 4 hours; without a single scratch, dent, or broken item!
After the move Stefy followed-up to make sure that everything went well. I would recommend NorthStar Moving to anyone who asks; they made the moving process as easy and stress-fee as possible.

I want to give a big thumbs-up to the customer service reps at Northstar Moving. They were amazing, and Wendy in particular helped us resolve some minor issues, and she did a follow-up with us about our move a month later. Update - 11/10/13 - I do want to let Angie's List users know that after posting my review, a quite lovely women from North Star got in touch with me to discuss my review and apologize for the quality of service I described. She did inform me that if I had called their central office about the scuffs in my hallway they would surely have sent someone to clean up the walls. I wish I had realized that (instead of spending time cleaning them up myself). One thing I forgot to point out in my review was that the guys moved me in on the hottest day in the summer and that I didn't have A/C yet. They were troopers! In sum, I really appreciated her call and was left feeling much more positively about the company and their professionalism. I do feel that I would recommend them in the future and changed my overall rating to a B.

The move took about 2 hours longer than the estimate we received over the phone. This could be a result of the stairs at our townhouse, or it could be that the movers gave a slightly low estimate. Other movers were contacted gave similar estimates in terms of the number of hours as well as the recommended number of movers, so we were not concerned. The cost ended up being higher than expected as a result, but not out of line.
The foreman for our move was very young, about 20 years old. English was his first language, so there was no trouble communicating at all. He kept things well organized with the other two movers. I think the foreman could have worked a bit harder / faster throughout the move, but the other two movers were working constantly. We might have saved 30 minutes with more dedicated effort.
The nicer furniture was wrapped carefully before being moved into the truck. There was minor damage to one piece that was not wrapped, but everything else arrived with no problems. My only complaint is that the moving company has been unresponsive to my request to have the damage evaluated / compensated. I called and was told that the Damage Department would contact me, but they never did. This would be a much bigger concern if we had more damage.

Decided to go with Northstar based on reviews and their pricing.
Northstar Moving told me that their men would be at our apartment, the day of the move, between 8am-10am. They arrived around 8:30am, and started work immediately.
The men were presentable, and very friendly and eager to be helpful! They assisted us in moving some items to the storage room in the garage of the building where we were moving out of (we're keeping some items there for a short time), assisted in dismantling beds we weren't moving, but wanted to store, etc. etc.
They worked quickly and efficiently. The job went slightly longer then they had planned ,but they offered to work through lunch, so we ordered pizzas and sodas for the guys, and they grabbed a quick bite and kept on working!
Furniture and fragile items were padded and/or wrapped, and handled with great care!
They completed the job at around 5:30pm, and the final price came in about $50 below their original estimate (we didn't need any boxes that they had included in their original estimate.
Moving is stressful, but having a professional group of guys who care about their work performing the move for you makes it substantially less stressful!
I'd highly recommend Northstar to any friends or family planning a move in the future!
