Based upon the content and tone of his email below (threatening legal action), we do not want any more dealings with this company, but feel this information should be made available to Angie's List members Mr. Zappler finally responded to our email by sending the following email: and quot;Sorry you feel that way. It clearly says and quot;estimateand quot; at the top of the proposal. This means things can happen that we didn't expect. If you want to be angry and threaten me because of an unexpected complication, be my guest. I've never allowed myself to be bullied and I don't plan to start now. Any further contact from you will be considered harassment and any attempts to slander me or my business will be dealt with legally.and quot;

It took a few days to get a response and longer to get the actual bid. His bid was complete, clear, professional and easy to understand. He appeared to be very experienced and knowledgeable and I was impressed with his bid. He was a bit higher than the person we selected. I think he is worth getting a bid from, my house required some pretty extreme prep work which I suspect is what drove the bid up. I would have trusted him to do it right, though.

The entire experience was excellent! From my first call to Konrad to schedule an estimate, until my entire punch list was completed to my full satisfaction, every interaction was professional and all work was very high quality. I am a very tough to please client, but I am 100% satisfied with the experience and final product! MTZ has competitive prices and a great attention to detail. I was unable to complete a full walkthrough of the project on the day MTZ completed their work due to my work schedule. I completed the walkthrough the next day and noted a few minor items that needed correction. MTZ was out the next morning at 8am to correct everything to my complete satisfaction. They were not interested in quickly moving on to the next project until they knew I was 100% satisfied. Give MTZ a call and I'm sure you will also have a great experience!

MTZ project manager (Konrad Zappler) was prompt with the proposal and easy to work with. MTZ's proposal was professionally done and very specific. The owner/lead painter, Ramiro Martinez, viewed the house with me and the project manager while the drywall company was still in the house. Ramiro coordinated with the drywall crew (and even gave them some primer he had on his truck) and started the job as soon as the texture dried. Since I was still unsure of some of the colors the day MTZ started, Ramiro painted sample color combinations for me on several walls. The work was finished within 5 days. The painters were friendly and professional. The finished product is very nice. I appreciate the time and attention given to ensuring I was satisfied with the results.

They did very high quality work, including some labor intensive ceiling work (using filler to change beadboard into a flat surface). Part of their statement of work is to come back and fix any mistakes (or dings from moving). They repainted the entire interior and there were no mistakes to fix. That's saying something.

Conrad was a fantastic project manager and really made the whole experience pretty easy for me. I took three quotes and I was surprised that MTZ was within a few hundred dollars of the lowest quote. I was surprised because I got MTZ's number off their van as I was driving down Mopac. MTZ has professional vehicles, gear, crew, etc. and the lowest bid came from a contractor that appeared to be very and quot;low-costand quot;. They were very fast, it took them about a week to sheetrock the entire house and tape/mud. Overall the job is excellent. Even the City of Austin inspector commented on the quality of the work. Walls are smooth and the ceiling work really blew me away. Now that I've gone through and primed the walls I've found a few areas that were not finished to level 5 standards. Mostly in corners, closets, etc. At the completion of the job Conrad did say that they would come back and fix any areas that I had a problem with, but honestly I think it would be too much of a hassle with scheduling so I'll just spackle, sand, and re-prime myself. But I believed Conrad when he said they'd come back - so factor that in if you're a perfectionist.

MTZ Paint and Drywall did a wonderful job on our house interior remodel. Konrad was the person that handled the quoting process and he is very professional and answered all of our questions promptly. We kept changing our mind on what work we wanted quoted, and he kept updating the quote for us which was great. He even came out a 2nd time to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. When the work began, Ramiro (one of the owners) was on site every day and made sure everything went according to plan. He was polite and answered all our questions during the job. His crew was also polite and did a wonderful job with work and cleanup. I had 5 different companies quote the work, and MTZ was not the cheapest, nor were they the most expensive. But after reading other positive reviews, I felt more comfortable choosing them and I'm glad I did. They did all the work in 3 days (as they had originally estimated) so they stayed on schedule. I reviewed the work closely after they finished and didn't find anything that would require them to come back out and touch up which is great, even though it is in their contract that they will do that for free - it means they did a quality job on the 1st pass.

The work was finished in the time estimate and all the workers were very skilled at the job they were doing. The manager over seeing the job stayed in contact with the HOA at all times and wanted to make sure that we were pleased with the job of his workers.

The company was very pomp in coming over for the free estimate. Submitting the estimate over e-mail, and starting the job. I paid half down and half at completion. We did add more wood than was on the original estimate, but that was understandable once the carpenter had a close up look at the sun damaged planks. The painters were very professional and polite. One of the Martinez brothers was on site everyday painting himself. They were always here early, and stayed late, to get the job done. They went out of their way to caulk every little flaw, so that when painted, it looked like new wood. They spent an entire 8 hours caulking this 30 year old house. They also did minor repairs on the deck rails to keep it from warping more and even repaired the hinges on my prior damaged gate! The paint is very thick, and the coverage is very complete. I also had them come in and paint the tall foyer indoors. It also is very professionally done. I never found any thing out of order. They cleared the upstairs patio and returned all the heavy furniture and put it just where I wanted it. They left nothing from the job and took all the trash. I will have them come back and add some of the contrast color, that I did not think to do while they where here. I would totally recommend them.

I am a real estate broker and have had lots of experience with contractors (I used to build and remodel houses). These guys are among the best I have ever worked with; they were timely, professional, friendly and an overall pleasure to do business dealings. It is a family owned and run business and Konrad their sales rep is honest, friendly and very professional. I don't normally refer people but with these folks I am making an exception.

They were responsive and gave me detailed information about what needed to be done. Their estimate was more detailed than lot of other companies. We were going to go with them but their scheduling did not work with us. So we went ahead with another company.

Konrad came out to do a estimate and was on-time and punctual. I wanted to use low VOC paint which wasn't a problem - he told me the store where I could go view samples and also provided a couple for me to look at. We went with a basic taupey-beige, nothing too exciting. I was going to have to wait a few weeks for the job to start since they had other projects lined up, but they called me the next Monday to say their outdoor painting job was on -hold due to rain and they would knock off a couple of hundred dollars if they could get over to do my job - which of course I jumped on! The crew came out at 8 am the day of the project. I work from home and had a quick phone call, and was amazed when I came out of my office that in about 30 minutes they had moved all of the furniture and completely taped up the entire area! They scraped popcorn from the pitched LR ceiling (15 feet at the top angle), the foyer, and a long hallway. They patched the walls (which were very uneven due to my husband and I trying to patch the drywall once we took the wood paneling down to find the joints were never taped and mudded). They removed what turned out to be 3 layers of wall paper from the foyer, and patched the walls, plus they removed the crown molding, which wasn't part of the original quote but they did it anyway (after asking of course). It was plaster and had to be knocked out with a hammer - a messy, time consuming job. They retextured and painted all walls and ceilings. All of the rooms looke 100xs better than they did! There are a couple of small areas where the texutre was a little gloppy and uneven and I'm sure they would have fixed them had I pointed it out. From where I started though, they did an amazing job. I plan to use them for future projects!

The whole process was really quick. We got a quote from Konrad on the 14th, they came to start the work on the 15th, and they were done on the 17th. We were and continue to be very satisfied with the work. They even identified areas of rotting wood that we didn't know about, and replaced them. We could not be happier with quality of the job, as well as the timely manner in which it was done (and all before the coming holidays). We will definitely use this company again.

Konrad came to give a bid the day after I called. He was very professional and personable and I was very impressed with the way he presented information about his company. I particularly liked the fact that this is a small company of employee owners. Konrad was able to give me a verbal bid that day and followed it with an email bid with a list of 18 tasks they would be performing. The work was completed within the week. I could not have been more pleased with this company. The crew, led by Ramiro Martinez, gave us a very professional job. Texture matched the texture in adjoining rooms and the new paint and caulking looks perfect. Their prep work and cleanup was so thorough I had NO cleanup to do after they left. Konrad was a big help with choosing colors. He brought over a box containing a complete set of Kelly Moore paint chips that we were able to keep for the weekend and look at colors in different light conditions. I highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again for other projects.

We met with Konrad (Project Manager) before the project to discuss materials, labor, logistics, etc. since we were working within a larger project schedule (remodel of master bdrm, bath). Konrad was extremely personable, professional and thorough during the walk-through to complete the estimate. We immediately had a good feeling about using MTZ after getting a couple of other estimates. MTZ wasn't the least expensive, but we felt the quality of the experience was worth paying just a little more - we definitely made the right decision. The employee-owned crew (Ramiro, Fabian, Alejandro) arrived promptly as scheduled each day and were very personable and polite - but never intrusive. The guys did quality work at a good pace and took the time to be sure they were clear on exactly what we wanted. They worked quietly but didn't hesitate to pull us into the room when they needed to confirm our expectations. We had some extra work for MTZ at the end of the remodel. Primarily, this consisted of approximately nine areas of drywall patch, some retexturing and touch-ups to paint. The guys came back and completed the final work in one day, which allowed us to finish the overall project exactly on time. The materials, labor and customer experience are all top-notch. We have absolutely no reason to consider anyone but MTZ for our future needs. I really appreciate the high-touch customer service model that MTZ values. These guys are true professionals!

First off Konrad from MTZ did a very thorough walk through and estimate and provided great advice above and beyond what I was asking him to bid on. Very prompt responses and professionalism. Second, the work was fantastic and was done in just a couple days. Every tiny nook and crack was sealed tight with caulk and the paint was perfectly even with no overspray. They even painted my doors and fixed the poor paint job I did on the first one. They even powersprayed by driveway which was a surprise and very welcome. The end result wowed me and I'd hire them again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Ken

The MTZ crew was friendly, punctual, and courteous. They went above and beyond the call of duty and were in and out in a day. More importantly, they did a great job on the house. Overall, we could not be more pleased with the work they did for us. In fact, we are planning on having them back in the Spring.

Konrad is very responsive, returns call promptly, and appears to be very honest. They showed up on time, did very good work, and finished when they said they would. Konrad called me afterward to see if I was pleased. I was. He even offered to come back and do touchups after we moved in. I wouln'nt hesitate to use them again.

Their estimate was competitive, but I decided to go with someone else. The price might have been a bit less than the people that I went with. He was punctual. He submitted a thorough, line by line estimate that allowed me to see where all of the costs were going. I felt like he was transparent in his dealings with me.

Very professional on estimate, Showed up on time and worked fairly quickly. Missed a piece of crown molding in BR so had to arrange re-visit and prolonged paint smell. Fairly expensive compared to others. I liked the people but probably try someone more reasonable next time.

Everything went fast and smoothly; they even returned to so some extra ceiling work at no extra charge.

After multiple phone calls and emails, Konrad canceled my bid appointment and emailed me stating that he did not wish to bid on the project. Very disappointing.

Konrad came over and gave us an estimate. He was very informative, patient and answered all our questions. He actually visited a couple of time b/c we wanted to do some additional work after consulting with an interior designer. The work took a little over two weeks, but we did a lot of work. The team was always on time, left everything clean and did a whole bunch of little things to make the house look better (e.g. re-caulk the stairs) and did not charge us extra. Overall we had a wonderful experience with MTZ Paint and Drywall. They were professional and very responsive. Anytime we had a question, they responded to us immediately. We were very pleased with the work!

The MTZ texturing did not match the existing surrounding areas, there were large smooth spots, and they left a slash in the texture above the medicine cabinet. (Pictures of the texturing and paint are included with this report.) However, they did a very good job on the painting. They cut the paint in straight along the borders with good coverage and no runs. They got very little paint where it should not have been. The MTZ job scheduling was undependable. On April 29, they scheduled the job for May 6-7. On May 4 they rescheduled, they textured on May 11, and they painted on May 12. They came back on June 3 for some touchup and made a generous offer to re-texture the bathroom on June 11. On June 10, they informed me that they were too busy with other jobs but that they still had every intention of returning to my project. When I requested a firm date within 2 weeks and that they allow the texture to dry for 24 hours, they responded negatively and never contacted me again. Update: We agreed on a date of July 20 for the touchup. The painters returned as scheduled, and they re-textured the slash and the most noticeable smooth spots. Ramiro invited me to inspect the texturing as they worked until it was acceptable, and he even re-textured some areas that I hadn't pointed out. They allowed the texture to dry overnight and returned the next day to finish the painting.

I can't say enough good things about the service provided. I am very detail oriented (and a bit high strung) and they took everything in and did things exactly to my standards. I am very pleased and will be using them again in the future.
