Description of Work: They came out and took measurements based on what I was looking for. They were pleasant and easy to be around, but after they left we NEVER heard anything back from them! No quote, no response to calls, nothing. EPiC fail and complete waste of our time.

Description of Work: I had some termite damage that needed to be fixed, I looked on Angies list and found these guy. They were offering a special so I paid for a full day of repairs on Angie List. They called the next day and I told them what was going on. They said that the first full day that was available would be the following Tuesday. I said that this damage was several months old at least and a couple of extra days wasn't going to be a problem. The next day they called back and said that there was a cancellation and wanted to see if they could come on Friday a few days earlier than we talked about. That wasn't a problem for us either. | |They showed up on time Friday morning looked at the damage and figured out what materials would be needed. It took awhile to gather all the materials because they had to go to a specialty lumber yard to find one of the boards needed. I had already suspected this would be the case, it is a odd width and length and I had never seen anything like it at the local Lowes or Home Depot. It addition to replacing the damaged part of the exterior wall he had to replace some of the studs in the wall also and repaint the area when done. | |Because of the time needed to find that specialty piece they were not able to finish the whole job in one day, this was a Friday and it was probably 98% complete. I'm sure I could have finished myself but being able to do it and actually getting to it, well I decided to have them come back on Monday to finish and then got them to do some fence repair and a couple other odd jobs that I just haven't had time to take care off. They put in another half day on Monday. | |There are one or two more things I should of asked them to do but didn't think of at the time so I may be calling them back at some point.

Description of Work: I have used Mr. Handyman of S. Austin for several different repairs most reently to do some small jobs around my house in preparation for selling it. Mr. Handyman did some painting, deck repair, sheetrock repair and installed smoke detectors inside each bedroom to comply with new city code. Their work has always been top quality, the repairmen show up on time, are extremely professional and always clean up after they have finished the work. I would hire Mr. Handyman of S. Austin again if I had not left Austin.

Description of Work: Well basically the guy they sent out only had time to hang 6 small bamboo blinds in two hours. I was hoping to get a ceiling fan hung too but he did not bring a tall enough ladder. They should ask when scheduling how tall are your ceilings. Total joke!

Description of Work: If you ever have a racoon get in your house and tear up the place, like I did, these are the guys to call. Called on a Monday, Gary came on Tuesday to make appraisal. David came on Wednesday to do the repair work. David was great - repaired and patched wood paneling in den that had been torn up; replaced a door that had been torn up, which was kind of tricky; replaced some drywall; reinstalled some molding that had been torn down; patched a concrete place at door entry. All work was done very well. David was very pleasant and professional.

The work was done perfectly and they even took care of a couple of other things they spotted that I had missed. This was a rental property and the tenants had just moved out. I would definitely use them again.

+ 1 moreIt was easy for him to remove a tile, and it only took about a minute or two. The harder part was cleaning the thinset mortar off of the cement slab. This was done with an electric tool and could be done fairly quickly. One good tile was chipped by him in the process, and had to be removed. The new tiles were cut to fit underneath door jambs and closer to the wall. My problem is that the tiles were not placed very well. They are uneven to my eye. To test this I took a sheet of paper and slid it all over the floor where the original tile existed, and it slid across fine. However, on the tiles that were installed, the paper hit the edge of the tile in some places, because it was sticking out too high. An excess of thinset mortar was probably used, because it is filling in the grout lines in some places, and this may have caused the tiles to be higher. In addition, the tiles are not aligned accurately. Even though he may have installed tile many times, it seems to me that there may be a few key tools, tips, or techniques that he is missing which would help him do a more accurate job. The tiles are installed "correctly" in that they won't break, but with a jobs like this, aesthetics is half of what you are paying for. It seems to me that it would only have required a little more attention to detail on what was probably the easiest part of this particular job.
Description of Work: I needed tile rework to be done in the kitchen to fix a problem a problem that the original builder created. The door jambs were not originally cut away at the bottom to make space for tile, so it looked bad. The rework involved removing and reinstalling about 16 tiles. 4 tiles away from the wall also had to be replaced due to a botched job by a different handyman. I removed the grout around the tiles myself, to make it easy to pop out the tiles without breaking or chipping others. I also cut away the door jambs myself. I supplied the tile. He supplied the thinset mortar.

+ 0 moreI was impressed with Gary's knowledge of how to do the job right. I felt David and David R. were thorough in their approach to painting a large expanse of cedar fence. Although I explained to Gary that the side fence was to be moved out and connected to the back fence, adding whatever fencing was needed, they proceeded to angle it in to match the current back fence line, so that the left side of the yard was not squared off with the back fence but at an angle. Unfortunately, I did not realize that he didn't understand what I was asking for until it was too late. I told him about the discrepancy, and he said it would have cost a lot more to have it done the was I asked. Considering that we lost two feet of land with his approach, it hardly seemed that it would have cost "a lot more" to have done it as requested. He did not offer any reduction in price for the error, as I would expect. I decided that the best course of action was to let it be as it is. It would have meant tearing out fence posts, etc. With this exception, I think they did a fine job and were conscientious in their approach. Based on the fact that I was quoted $2,200 to remove the back fence and install a wrought iron fence, I thought the price of $3,400 was high for moving and painting a cedar fence.
Description of Work: Moved side fence in backyard 16 feet; sunk new steel posts for same fence; installed 4-foot gate; painted entire fence with solid stain, part of it painted on both sides.

Description of Work: I called Mr Handyman for some work around the house, based on my positive experience with them on a prior job. David repaired the light socket on the vent hood above my stove. He also adjusted my new patio door that had been difficult to shut and lock. Also, he applied new weatherstripping to my front door, and replaced the door sweep at the bottom. I now have all three items working properly and I'm again a satisfied customer.

He cleaned everything up so there no trace of the previous work. I was very satisfied with the quality of the job and would hire this company again.

+ -1 moreI had called several other handyman companies and he was the most honest about his billing practices. His bills are in accordance with the job performed. It had only taken about an hour and a half for him to finish the job. He had done a neat job and I was very pleased. He had told me that he was well trained and told me about all the other things that he could do. I feel he can do almost any kind of handyman work, and I would definitely use him again. He was very friendly, and I felt really safe having him in my home.
Description of Work: We had used Mr. Handyman to fix our front door that wasn’t closing properly. He had put new weather stripping around it and realigned the locks.

+ -1 moreThe handyman arrived on time and spent about 6.5 hours on both jobs. He did a fantastic job repairing and adjusting the atrium doors. It works better now than it ever has. He left the work site immaculate completely cleaning up everything. I have used this service before and they work by a half day or full day charge. This job was a bit more expensive than I anticipated but he could not just make a basic adjustment to correct the problem with the atrium doors. Some of the extra cost was due to materials he had to purchase.
Description of Work: I recently had my foundation leveled which resulted in an exterior door sticking badly. The doors are double atrium type with hinges in the middle. Only one side of the door opens. The handyman had to completely adjust the door in the frame by removing all the molding (which did not break). In addition to that, he completely replaced the old weather stripping, cleaned and put WD40 on the screen door track and caulked all around He also replaced old weather stripping on my front door.
