We had great experiences with a very smart woman electrician from Mr. Electric in the past to replace garage light fixtures and repair some interior kitchen light shorts, so they were top of our list to call for the new issues. However, when I called the person fielding the call told me they do not do repairs of exterior lights and would only replace the entire fixtures, even for the one that simply has a stuck base of a lightbulb in it because a bulb broke when we were changing it. Why would they not repair external light fixtures and only do entire replacements of them? It seems very odd. They could not refer me to another electrician who does repair external fixtures, so here I am taking a look at Angi reviews.
Description of Work: Check two exterior light fixtures - remove base of a broken floodlight bulb and analyze/repair one that's not working.

Everything accomplished cleanly and efficiently. The idea of a car charging plug requires a bigger system upgrade as our service is maxed out. Will definitely use them when that gets back in it he budget.

They employee was very nice. The whole experience was inconvenient and expensive. I had to go to home depot to get parts that I was unfamiliar with. I was able to take pictures and text them to employee to make sure it was the right part. I had to do a lot of running around for the high price they charged to do 2 minor things.
Description of Work: They replaced the flood light in the back of home and replaced chime for door bell. They would not replace socket for the kitchen light fixture, They said they only would replace the whole fixture.

The quality of service was fine, but the price seemed very high for switching out two outlets, which took about ten minutes ($270!).

Hey [Member Name Removed]. Thank you for leaving us a review. That's how we can improve our business. In the past month we've hired a service manager that is taking a look at our prices to make sure we're worth what we're charging. I brought up your invoice to him and we are going to be looking it over to see what we can do. Thanks so much for using Mr. Electric!

The tightening of the connection prevented the breaker from flipping off again. But $185 ???? Come on people.
Description of Work: The breaker to my heating system kept flipping off. He charged me $185 to tighten the connection and told me that I needed a new breaker box. The estimate on that was over $ 3k. Both of these charges are just too much.

They were very responsive, the technician was very friendly. BUT - the coupon offered on Angie's web site is useless, unless you are in Indiana. What good is that? I'm in Texas. The technician said he had a coupon good for $20, which he brought with him - and applied to my bill. High marks for them, and (once again) lousy marks for Angie's List. At least the recommended providers on Angie's List seem to be accurate - the work was done well, efficiently, and was exactly what I wanted. The technician even pointed out an issue with what i wanted to do - a technical problem involving a switch to a socket when i needed half the socket to remain hot - we resolved exactly what i needed, and the job was done well.
Description of Work: Changed some electrical sockets out for larger ones.

I used Mr. Electric based on a referral from Lights Fantastic. The electrician was fine. But he had to go by pricing from his book that left little area for common sense. He hung an under counter kitchen light (my purchase). It is currently not working. Cost: $250 On a return trip (MY BAD) he repaired the provided under counter light (STILL NOT WORKING), replaced a lightbulb in a tall front tree ( NOT WORKING NOW) and rehung an exterior light in the back yard. Cost: $400 I also had purchased 2 new exterior garage sconces for Lights Fantastic that Mr. Electric said they would install for $400. After being burned I had both installed by a licensed electrician for $150. Mr. Electric is a complete rip off. I partially blame myself for trusting them for two visits. I have contacted Lights Fantastic about their horrible service. I also called their office to complain and received an initial call back, but they have since not responded. Meanwhile all my overcharged lighting issues are still not working. What a complete waste of money!
Description of Work: Re hung an existing light in backyard tree; replaced a light bulb in tall oak in front yard; installed customer provided under counter light in kitchen. None is working.

The electrician was very nice, but despite common sense, all he could charge on was what was in his "system.", or laptop. Here are my charges: $240 for installation of task lighting I PROVIDED. 36". $400++ for replacing an exterior *light bulb* and reinforcing an exterior light that had already been anchored before. It worked and was on the ground. I am now $640 into them for PROVIDED lights and repair. I have traded voice mails/emails with the accounts payable at Mr. Electric but he has stopped returning my calls and emails. The quote I got from them before this fiscal disaster was AN ADDITIONAL $400-$600 to hang my new lights outside my garage. That would be in addition to my build replacements. This is highway robbery. I'm calling Lights Fantastic who recommended them with a complaint. Meanwhile I have hired someone who has agreed to hang my lights purchased from Lights Fantastic for...$150. Big difference from their quote of $400-600. It's insulting that they charge so much and then won't address our concerns. I admit I was an idiot to use them twice. I hope you won't be.
Description of Work: Mr. Electric first came to my home to replace an under-counter Xenon task light which I provided. Roughly 6 screws. But because it was linked in with other lights we believed it was a job for an electrician and not a handy man. Also, we had some issues with the exterior lighting. One outside light in a tall tree in back had fallen down; it needed replaced in the tall tree which required a ladder. In the front tall oak, we needed a bulb replaced, which I provided.

Contacted Mr. Electric Austin location to install a thermostat and troubleshoot an electrical problem (outside outlet was tripping if used a GSI outlet in a bathroom). Wait time for an appointment was one week, I left work early to make service window. A half hour into my call window called Mr. Electric was immediately put on hold for five minutes till someone answered and I asked when the tech was actually going to show up was put on hold again, and when the lady came back on the phone said the tech was still on his last call it was taking longer than expected. The lady asked if she could give me a call back when she had a better idea when he will be out to my area I of course said Yes. Well, a half hour later the lady called me back and said the tech could make it there in a half hour I said that was fine. The tech showed up followed by a unknown gentlemen who I assumed was a manager doing a proficiency check on the tech he never introduced himself or even talked to me. The tech greeted me and asked what I needed done I first showed him the thermostat the main reason for the call and because it was a smart one he could not install it which annoyed me greatly. Moving onto the next reason for the call he asked what the electrical problem was so he could evaluate it for pricing purposes I explained what was going on with the outside front outlet and the bathroom GSI outlet and he asked for a vacuum to try and trigger the breaker and tested both the bathroom's outlet and the front outlet well he could not replicate the outlet's problem we even got a electrical lawn mower out and tried for more amps-nothing! In light of all this the tech was extremely professionally even though we could not trigger the outlet tripping he never made me feel I was wasting his time. I believe the electrical problem might have gotten fixed when they moved (Mr. Electric) the washer to its own breaker previously all three outlets might have been on a shared breaker. I just didn't want to mess with electricity which was way I put the service all in. Not having the thermostat installed is still an issue but this wasn't the tech's fault nor being late in light of all this I did not get charged for the call.

They were good, did exactly what they said they were going to do, they were on time, extremely professional, did a good job and told our father to take care of it so if there's anything like that ever happened again what we needed to do until someone could get here and they were just very good. I would use them again in the future.

We had them out before to install a new heater & light in our Master bath, install a new ceiling fan in one room and repair another one. It required plaster for the new heater which they had someone do also. They did a good job. Later, when our light went out in the Master bath we were not able to open to put in new lights so called them. They could not get out to do the work the next day as they were booked. However, the owner came out personally to open it for us so we would not have to wait. He not only took care of that but was a fine young man who told us he has been in business over 10 years and had only good things to say about his employees. We would recommend them to our neighbors and plan to use them as needed.

I received excellent service. I have a 1950s house that had accumulated external tangles of old wiring and cables. Kevin, the technician examined external electrical cabling for code compliance, and cleaned out obsolete wires, tangles, and boxes. I plan to follow up for additional inside work to protect indoor cables and to test electrical outlets for code compliance and breaker identification.

Very well. As with any job laying conduit underground there were a few unpleasant surprises contributed by the caliche under the soil, and a couple of timing issues with subcontractors, but nonetheless they were able to bring the job in on time and on budget. They accomplished exactly what we wanted. The other jobs, hooking up a water heater and swapping out the defunct pool lights were also done quickly and well. The three people who were here the most, Don, Michael and Sam were great to work with. The others were fine too, just don't know their names and they were here only for the stat up.
Description of Work: They installed a 35kw standby generator, did all the electric work for that and did some additional repair work that we needed done, including installing step lights down to our pool.

I was a little shocked about the price, but I figured it would have a lot of detail. I wasn't able to be at home during the inspection, but my wife was and he explained a couple of the issues to her, and spent a total of 2 hours looking at everything. Attached is the report I received (if it lets me attach). If it doesn't, it had 6-7 phrases scribbled down on a piece of paper - very difficult to read . This was NOT worth $400! In fact, I don't think it was worth half that! I also called them regarding the discount for Angie's list referral, and they refused to give me the discount without going through a convoluted process.

They responded quickly and had someone out the next day, that is where the good stopped. They said the electrician would call before he came out, he did not. They looked at the customers wiring and said we can do it ,but it will be expensive( several thousand dollars). After that it got worst, I asked about a simple 120v outlet and he priced it out at $500.00 for one outlet. The wiring was already there as well as the conduit. I escorted the electrician to the door shortly after finding out his bid, paid his fee for just showing up ($49.00), and will never call this company back again.
