MERITAGE HOMES

We built a home in Vista Verde subdivision in West Oak Hill. We were attracted by the location as it is canyon terrain with views, and lots larger than a half acre. The browsing process was normal enough, but after the contract was signed things quickly went down hill. They rush you from their end, and only give you two 2 hour sessions in the design center. You have to know EVERYTHING before you get to building, from electrical outlet placement to cabinet handle placement. OH - there is alot they don't tell you about in terms of options, so ask if you so desire say a different style garage door than what is standard. Breaking ground takes forever. Then from there months can go by without any progress. Communication is lacking, and careless mistakes are made on with the build. You have to stay on top of them since the construction manager doesn't. They are quick to have all hands on deck for spec homes, which means your home gets short shrift. Lots of expense you'll need to put in after you move in. For instance, landscaping is paltry. Gutters are extra. Sprinkler system is extra. They tell you 6 months for a build - schedule 9 at least. We didn't do many modifications if anyone is wondering.

It was a spec home that they built and we purchased. It was completed the month that I saw it so it was in process. For the most part we are satisfied with the house. The house itself is beautiful. There are just some minor things that we have to adjust from the warranty standpoint. There are a couple of electrical issues and a couple of small things that we have to have them fix from the warranty standpoint. It is a great house. The house itself is very high quality and has a lot of really nice upgraded features. They have definitely taken care to make some great choices with the aesthetics of the house, both from an internal and an external standpoint. The sales team was very personal and very professional. They did have a newer person there who didn't really understand the neighborhood restrictions, but I really can't fault them for that because they were new. We probably would not use them for some other work after the warranty. They don't really do that kind of work and if they did they wouldn't be the most effective cost and quality provider.

I've only had minor issues and feel very satisfied! I bought a speck home so it was not custom. Quality workmanship!

They did an excellent job on our home. All the craftsmanship was of high quality, because we upgraded all the appliances, lights, doors, ceramic tile, and cabinets. We are satisfied with the results and the time the house took to be completed. We would use them again to build our home. Everything was well done and the builders were very experienced.
