Mike Allmon came to do an inspection on our house at the cost of the buyer. He was on time, but lacked professional appearance. He also requested that I leave because "the buyers are coming shortly" and it "weirds them out" to have the seller present. I agreed to leave when the buyers arrived. An hour later (the buyers still having not come), I left because I had errands to run. He finished and left, but later told the buyers that he could not complete the inspection because he couldn't access a panel in the garage. He made no effort to communicate us via the buyers or their agent while he was there to get the problem solved and finish the report. There was a small parts storage bin blocking a couple screws on the panel that he could have easily moved. He charged us $75 to come re-inspect after we moved the bins. The next morning he came out to re-inspect, and my husband and I both stayed home while he worked. He said the buyers had asked him to check the furnace too. My husband opened the attic for him, and a while later, he left without saying a word to either of us... only to call the buyer later saying he couldn't access the heater! We were both at home and could have easily moved the box that was in his way. He wanted to charge another $75 to come out again, even though my husband and I were both home the first time. He came out for the third time, agreeing to not charge again, and complained more about stuff being in the way and saying he couldn't talk to us because we were the seller. Unbelievably poor service, terrible communication and a lack of effort to actually get the job done without raising excuses that allow him to charge more for re-inspections. There are tons of inspectors out there and whether you're a buyer or seller, you can do a lot better than Mike.

Response from Magnum Property Inspections
First of all, don't believe everything you read. I work for the buyer and not the seller. It's against the law for me to communicate with the seller as it can be construed as a conflict of interest. The female in the home had a very small child she was watching. The attic was completely filled with the owner's belongings. I never charged the seller a dime and no one dime was paid to me. Per the Texas Real Estate Commission, the people who license me for the last 12 years, I am not allowed to touch any belongings in the home, including any plastic bins or moving people's belongings in an over stuffed attic. The chances of me getting sued by an attorney for my having pulled his wife off of watching their baby and possibly it falling down the steps since the mother was in the attic moving all their belongings to gain access to the furnace is probably what they were going for. The original request was to have the garage clutter and attic clutter moved and they only moved the garage clutter and not the attic clutter, hence the third time showing up. The Attorney owner said the attic was cleaned and nothing was touched. I have saved time stamped photos for all this. I showed up in professional looking slacks and a long sleeve button down shirt as I have for 12 years. I'm still blue collar and have no reason to wear an Armani suit to an inspection. 12 years I've been doing this and only one complaint which was not even my client. Not bad. Remember. I'll be happy to answer anyones questions as to the rules I'm bound by per my license or you are welcome to call the Texas Real Estate Commission. SOOOO, to recap, I'm not allowed to talk to the sellers. No matter how fancy of an attorney they are(or think they are) and he is out of place and unprofessional on his posting here. I suppose pissing of a deserved seller is what needed to happen since he lied to me 2 times.
