Prompt estimate, good selection of engineered wood and tile, fair pricing. Didn't end up going with them due to limited selection of laminate styles, but in retrospect wish I would have. Rep answered all my questions despite us being a walk in, arrived when promised to measure, and apologized for the quote taking a couple days.

Tony was very responsive and we communicated well since this is my 2nd order after our first project. The entire job was done within a couple of hours and the apartment looks new and clean. They even vacuumed the new carpet before they leave. I am fully satisfied with their work and would not hesitant to use them again, or refer them to anyone.

Tony answered my request for information (through Angie's List) very quickly, and within days he came out to my house to take measurements and to provide many samples. I had a very difficult time deciding what type of floor to install in my house and he was very helpful with suggestions and options. Within one month of our first contact, I was having new floors installed! Tony's subcontractors are great (I'm even looking to hire them for another unrelated job). They do quality work and are very efficient when on the job. They do run a little late, arriving a bit later each day than they thought they would, but it wasn't a problem for us. Overall, I was very satisfied with Lone Star and would recommend them to others &/or use them again.

Went okay. Originally expected them to get done in 1 day. They started with only one person removing carpet. The individual finished at 2:30pm and the installers only came by around 4:30 pm. They continued working the next day but took most of the day to finish up. Quality of the work is okay... when walking on the laminate floors, you can feel inconsistencies... I'm not an expert, but I would have expected the prep work to have addressed these issues before the flooring went down.

I received five quotes before selecting Tony from Lone Star Carpet. Tony arrived on time and was pleasant to work with. He has several tile showroom companies that we were able to choose from offering a great selection. Tony and his crew arrived on time daily, stayed late everyday and were extremely meticulous. The amount of detail was really nice. Tony's tile guys were very hard workers, cleaned up every evening and updated us a few times a day on the progress. Tony also was heavily engaged and actively updating timelines as things progressed. Because we were remodeling an existing home, Tony was quick to point out some inconsistencies in the structure and saved us lots of time and money. Overall Tony and his team were a pleasure to work with and we highly recommend.
Description of Work: We had existing tile and laminate flooring removed and 1,000-Sq Feet of new tile, baseboard, fireplace mantle stone work, and bathroom remodeled with new tile and shower area. This Included prep, demolition of fireplace area and rebuild, painting and caulking of baseboards. They even soundproofed my shower area.

UPDATE I received a call from William and have changed my opinion of Lone Star. I now realize that the problem was with the restoration company regarding the insurance claim. They were the ones that were not applying the insurance payout to the quote given by Lone Star. However, because I never received a call or an email after my letter to the owner, I had no way of knowing that. It wasn't until they became aware of the negative review on Angies List that they responded to me. In the future, I will use Lone Star for the carpet I will need in my bedrooms. Lesson in all this is if you have an insurance claim, do not use the restoration company if you can avoid it. Go directly to the contractor. I did, ultimately get the job completed from another company, was very happy with the service and the price. Had I had a conversation with Lone Star before I went to another company, I would have used Lone Star directly. Thank you for reaching out to me!
Description of Work: I had an insurance claim for a leak in my dining room that required a repair to floor, walls and replacing all flooring in dining and living rooms. The quote I got was way out of line for the cost of the floor and installation after the insurance adjustment. My insurance company told me I could get the work done on my own and they would pay me directly. I found another wood floor company on Angie's list so within one week I had them order the exact floor I picked out at Lone star carpet (at .40 cents higher as lone star had bought the floor at a discount) and it was installed and the total cost was $4000 LESS then what I was quoted by Lone Star. I feel that they take advantage of insurance claims. I sent a letter explaining all this to the owner of the company but never got a response! I was planning to have them replace carpet in four bedrooms but obviously won't be using Lone Star. Be warned, if you have an insurance claim, get several bids! (removed member name), I'm sorry you feel the bid was high. We rarely work directly with insurance company's. Insurance company's work with restoration company's. Your insurance claim was handled by a restoration company. The restoration company contracted us to give them a price, they in turn gave you a price. I looked at the bid and it is impossible to do the job for $4000.00 less then our bid. If the bid is $4000.00 higher then the other Angie's list vendor then I would question the bid you got from them. I'm sorry this happened and defiantly concerns me. If you would like to know our bid for the job please contact me at the number on my Angie's list page.

I got Lone Star in because of the good reviews - they did not lie. Not only was he prompt, responsive and professional, he actually steered me away from a more expensive product because I really did not need it. Not to mention, he beat the prices I was getting from some big-box retailer. I was looking to change out our carpet on the lower level, knowing we would not keep it for more than a couple of years. Tony worked around my hectic schedule. His team showed up on time and just put their heads down and worked hard all day. The quality of the job was very good. Tony even offered to come back and re-stretch the carpet in an area where we are getting some work done on the baseboards. I plan to hire them again for other work we have and have already referred him.

When the installers came the morning of installation, they were all ready to begin work and had the flooring, tools, and everything they needed to complete the job. There were 3 gentlemen and they began by moving the furniture out of the way and tearing out the old dirty carpet. Believe it or not, this was even done as neatly as possible so dust didn't go flying all over. They then started laying the floor and when they finished they put all the furniture back where it came from. This was a good 8 hr. day and it looks like a new house almost. I highly recommend this company and the installer who work for Lone Star Carpet.
Description of Work: Tony helped me to choose type flooring I liked and could afford. He showed me what would work with the flooring I already have and that was a big help right there. I looked at flooring in his shop and found what I liked, but couldn't afford. Tony then went through his stock until he found the exact same color in cheaper material that I could afford. He then arranged for installation.

Tony is highly responsive and very knowledgeable. He helped me select carpet and commercial grade vinyl planks for a rental house. I was going to install wood planks but Tony convinced me that wood looking commercial vinyl planks were the way to go - maintenance and budget-wise - for a rental house thus saving me thousands of dollars. He helped choose the color and worked hard to make sure the installation went smoothly. I am extremely happy with the results and would highly recommend Lone Star!!!

I contacted this service provider via Angies List messaging, requesting a generic cost per SF charge for installing tile for a small project. I received a response from "Tony" who refused to communicate via Angies List, and wanted me to call him instead. Since Angies List provides a messaging forum for a reason, and I do use it, I re-asked for this basic info via Angies List. Tony responded long enough just to say he wasn't going to do that. Not acceptable. An Update to respond to the contractor's response: Your response makes no sense, and actually contradicts the facts. Its apparent that the response is an attempt to get any readers to disregard my appropriate rating, so let me clarify: You can ask your questions, using Angies List messaging. You don't need a phone call to ask questions. And - you shouldn't have many questions to ask. I already provided all of the pertinent details you needed, in a message. My project is a very simple tile installation project of 10X10 SF. It doesn't get any easier than that. You were the only contractor that demanded a phone call, and would rather potential business than communicate on the messaging service. Big red flag here, as it implies a big attitude problem. A problem that potential customers should want to avoid. Whether you are in your car all day or not is irrelevant. I never asked for an immediate response, yet you seemed to have time to respond quickly anyway, long enough to tell me to call you. Its obvious that you just don't like using the messaging service, hence my appropriate rating. There's no excuse for that. The intelligent review readers will correctly interpret that you opted to say "No" to my business because you flat out refused to communicate using Angies List. This is an indication that you have a poor professional with an attitude problem, and should be avoided.

Im sorry you feel this way but in order to do my job properly I have questions that need to be asked. Fortunately I am in my car all day seeing clients and sending emails can be difficult so I rely on personal communication. I I will just have to let the Intelligent members of Angie's list read the your review and decide if is valid or not. Thank you!

Tony was very helpful and responsive on questions/concerns prior to contracting them and once they were working as well. He came out to check the job every few days. There were some times when it was unclear when a crew was going to arrive, etc but we worked through that. The total job was supposed to take roughly 5 days and ended up taking 10 days; with our kitchen being "non-functional" most of that time. Many of the delays were unavoidable as detailed below. We had three different crews for three different products: luxury vinyl plank (LVP), carpet, and tile back-splash. LVP: The crew that did the LVP flooring work was very courteous, professional, helpful and worked hard. Unfortunately our slab was in much worse shape than anyone could have guessed. This resulted in additional time and quite a bit of additional money (~$1,600) to try and get it floated smooth (which is very important when gluing a flexible product directly to the floor). The flooring guys worked late evenings to try and make up time. Tony checked in on the additional float several times and was apologetic for the additional time/cost. The delays due to the slab could not have been avoided and were understandable. They did a good job of hauling off trash and cleaning up before they left each evening - they were a pleasure to work with. The finished product of the floors look terrific - guests walk in and don't know its not wood. Carpet: As for carpet, the wrong pad was initially delivered but then the crew came back with the correct pad and finished up quickly. We love the soft, durable, stain resistant carpet in our master bedroom! The carpet was installed in a few hours one day. Tile: We ran into further delays when the old tile on the back-splash was not easy to remove and we had to replace sheet rock. We knew this was a possibility and there was nothing anyone could have done to change that fact. The tile guy did not have the same level of professionalism that the other crews demonstrated. He had difficulty committing to a schedule and working the hours to make the expected progress. Having said that, glass tile is a difficult product to work with. There are some issues with the spacing and the way the back-splash was laid but the overall finished look of the glass subway tile is terrific. Tony has done what he can to correct the issues surrounding the tile and it is my understanding that this particular tile person will not be used in the future. Bottom Line: There were parts of our job that had bumps but Tony worked to make it right every step of the way.
Description of Work: Tony worked with us and was very responsive and helpful as we chose products. He brought the samples to our house when measured which made the process much easier. The job was to remove existing carpet (~ 500 sqft) and tile (~1000 sqft) downstairs as well as removal of the existing tile back-splash. They were to install new flooring and a new tile back-splash. They then prepped the floor and laid glue-down luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and new baseboards in the common areas and carpet in one bedroom and two closets. They replaced the old tile back-splash in kitchen with glass subway tile. We were looking at a very expensive LVP product to begin with and Tony suggested a more reasonably priced flooring product that we are thrilled with (Hill Country Innovations Durham Plank). He also was helpful on what was necessary and overkill on the carpet backing. We really appreciated his expertise and integrity!

I just can not say enough good things about Lone Star Carpet. We hired them to put in new flooring at 3 of the properties that our management company manages. The representative that we work with there is Tony. Tony has been wonderful each and every time. He gets the jobs scheduled quickly and works with me from start to finish to make sure that our company is completely satisfied with their work. Lone Star Carpet works fast and efficiently and does absolutely beautiful work. If you are looking for an exceptional product and an amazing salesman, who goes above and beyond, make sure to have Lone Star Capet do the job.

What set Lone Star Carpet apart from other laminate installers was the very professional install job They put a lot of time and effort into properly prepping the slab before installing the floors. Because they "floated" the slab the laminate butt up even with the existing time and there was no need for the use of transition pieces. Some transitional pieces I have seen used in others home could be considered trip hazards. The install crew was very polite, professional, neat and fast. They even offered to help me move my furniture back into place when they were done. I was very happy with all aspects of the job and will use Lone Star Carpet again when I am ready to do the bedrooms.

I spent months researching what flooring to use and which flooring business to use. I visited about 10 different flooring stores and researched Angie's List. Lone Star Carpet was by far the best to work with. It took about two and a half days from start to finish. We had one miscommunication but that was taken care of. The floors look great. I should have grouted all of the Mannington Adura tiles with 1/8in. grout and I should have used a different color grout for some areas. Not a lot to look at for examples from the manufacturer. I say that because most people change their floors after many years of use. We are still very pleased with the work that Lone Star Carpets performed.

Mr. Rodriguez responded to my inquiry within 24 hours. He worked with us to try to match the new flooring with the older Mohawk laminate flooring in our house. He scheduled the job immediately so that it could be completed before Thanksgiving. On the installation date, the workers arrived at the scheduled time. They were extremely professional and worked nonstop. They completed the job ahead of schedule & did an excellent job of cleaning up. We were extremely pleased with the work that was done--from start to finish.

Tony was great to work with - very responsible and flexible. After contacting Tony I quickly received a call back. We had received one quote from another company and Tony was able to beat the quote by $2,000 (with the exact same carpet!). We had a short turn around time as we were moving into the house and wanted to have the carpet installed before the move. Tony was able to get our carpet ordered and installed on the date we requested. From beginning to end Tony made this an easy transaction/project!

Tony from Lone Star Carpet set an appointment to come and take measurements of our home. He showed up exactly when he said he would and he really took the time to minimize the amount of carpet he would have to use in our space. They're very wide rooms, and he took careful and complete measurements, explaining what he was doing each step of the way. Tony's price was better than average, and we were able to complete the deal on the spot; no "special conversations" with the boss were necessary to gain approval for this transaction. On the day of install, the crew that came was fantastic! They were prompt, courteous, honest and worked efficiently to get the job done. They did everything they could to ensure minimal seams, and made sure the ones that were there were in inconspicuous places. They took the time to explain what they could and could not do with existing baseboards and transitions between rooms. The carpet is soft, beautiful, and we could not be any happier with the work Tony and the Lone Star Carpet crew did for us. Every person we came into contact with at Lone Star was professional and courteous, and their communication skills were top notch! If you need flooring of any kind, you should call Tony at Lone Star!
