Overall, they were rude and not professional.

Everyone from the salesman to the inspector and roofing crew was very pleasant to work with.

They did the work in detail. They followed up on any issues or concerns that I had. They were top notch. I would use them in the future.

Our leak had been difficult to diagnose. Several other roofers had already looked at the roof, and been unable to clearly identify why it was leaking. They each guessed at what might have been causing the leak, did something that would have fixed the leak if that had been what was leaking, and failed to fix the leak. I explained the situation to Lon Smith Roofing, and they sent two people to diagnose the problem so they could perform a water test. I had suggested the same process, without knowing what to call it, to at least two other roofing companies before I called Lon Smith Roofing. Lon Smith suggested the water test on their own, without my having to suggest it. The other roofing companies said they would not need to test the roof that way. The whole process went well. The estimators were punctual and polite. The repair crew was also punctual and polite. Office personnel were professional and helpful when I scheduled the water test and the repair, as well as when I called to clarify a couple of items in the estimate and the contract terms. After completing the repair, the company performed two free water tests. The repair crew did one water test before they left our property. The estimator returned a couple of days later to perform another water test. My only complaint is that the repair crew forgot to shut off the water after performing their water test. But I really like the fact that they did a test to check their work before leaving. Bottom line --My roof no longer leaks, and I am delighted! I waited through two fairly heavy rains before reporting, to be sure the repair worked.

They are super. They were the low cost provider out of three bids. They also used brand name and quality materials.

Once Lon Smith indicated that they had completed the roof, my father-in-law who is a builder inspected the work and found several significant problems that their 'inspector' did not identify. The most significant being that the felt did not come down to the metal edge around the entire perimeter of the roof. I would advise anyone who has had their roof done by this company, gently lift the shingles at the edge of your roof and ensure that the felt comes down to the metal edge. Other problems included: not sealing the old nail hoes in the flashing, a broken piece of wood found in the attic that was needed to secure the ridge vent, placing shingles in a crooked line on one of the edges, leaving several shingles too tight and sticking up too much which would allow water to enter, leaving a corner around a window with an opening that could allow water or debris to enter, and failing to add flashing in the correct place to divert water into the gutter. To their credit, they did eventually come back and repair the list of problems that we had to identify on our own. However, when they did return to work on the roof, they left about 20 nails and some broken glass in our driveway which we could not see because it was after dark when they left. Getting everything completed properly took several months. It was our understanding that we were not required to pay them until the job was finished and that they would work with our insurance company on an agreed price. By the time they finally finished the job and we were ready to make payment, their accounting department informed me that my account was past due and they were about to submit my name to collections! Also, the salesmen never got back to my insurance adjuster to finalize an agreed price so their accounting department was expecting $2000 more from us. The final issue was that the salesman sold us on a 2 year warranty that included coverage for any interior damage however it turns out that Lon Smith's typical 2 year warranty only includes one year of interior coverage. We had to make some calls to have them agree to honor what the salesman promised. It has been 5 weeks since we made full payment and we have still not received our warranty.

Excellent service. Estimator worked with insurance company to answer all questions on work and price. Crew was careful around landscaping and did a good job cleaning up. Follow-up inspector made sure we were happy with the job.

They were a great roofing company. My neighbors even asked who did my roof because it was so good. They did it in one day. I really like them. They quoted less than anyone else. The insurance company recommended them. The representative came and gave us the estimate. The work crew was very professional. They did excellent work and it looks fantastic.

Made first call on the 10th of the month, made appointment for the estimator to come on the 11th. He didn't show or call. Made second call on the 16th, talked with estimator, who said he would come by on the 17th. He didn't show or call.

I was not informed that the workers were here, my dogs were barking and that is how I knew they were here. 4 Mexican workers who couldn't speak English were dropped off with some rope, a wheelbarrow and some tools and a ladder. The roofing materials had been dropped off the preceding day. I had been told there would be dumpsters put on my property to put the refuse from removing the old roof in, but there wasn't any for three hours. The old roofing materials were just thrown in the yard. I called the company and was told there was one on the way, but that he had to unload his dumpster first. After an hour I called again and was told they didn't know where the man with the dumpster was and he wasn't answering his cell phone. He showed up three hours later, meanwhile my yard, rain gutters and my patio were covered and the yard was just full of this stuff. At one point my air conditioner stopped cooling, it was still running but not cooling, so I went outside to see what might be wrong. They had placed a solid board one inch thick completely covering the breather for my central air conditioner. I couldn't lift it I am 71 years old, and the workers didn't understand the problem. I called the company again, somebody showed up about 45 minutes later and removed the board, it could have burned up my air conditioner. They did the whole roof in one day so that meant they took a lunch break, nothing wrong with that, but I had to tell them to clean up the soda cans and stuff their food was in out of my back yard when the job was finished. I had been told they had a magnetized tool that they would use to pick up any stray nails in the yard and they did a small portion in the front yard. Now when it rains my rain gutters rain nails and debris, my patio cover is littered with debris, and my yard has numerous nails in it. Also there were some vents they installed that weren't part of the estimate and they were charged on the bill, my insurance adjuster had them remove those charges. When I called the main office which is out of state they refused to accept any complaint from me and told me to handle it with the branch in Austin, lots of good that would do and why wouldn't a company not want to know how their branch offices operate. How can they make their product and service better if they refuse to listen to any complaint? Before I hired this company, I did my homework, I looked them up on the internet and got all of their qualifications and thoroughly browsed their website. I called the local Better Business Bureau and got glowing reports, I also called the local Chamber of Commerce and got great reports from them too. Also this company was recommended to me by my homeowners insurance company. My neighbors ready to sign with this company but, after the job turned out like this, they went with a different company. I will make a report to the Better Business Bureau about this and tell everybody I know to not do business with this company.

It never got started because they never followed up with us.

Phillip Stanford is a world class salesman. He worked with my insurance company to get me the best price possible. Even before that, he went above and beyond for us. Jose Sanchez was the crew supervisor and those guys are good. No fooling around, they showed up on time and did what they said they were going to do.

I called for an estimate on Wednesday and was told that I would be called back in a day or two. I wasn't called until Monday. Then I was told he would be out that afternoon or the next morning. By 11:00am the next day, I still hadn't heard anything, so I called and he was able to arrive within the hour. It would have been nice to have a call Monday evening or early Tuesday with a better estimated time of arrival. Otherwise, Russell was very courteous and advised us on how to repair the water stain.

Isaac Barrera responded almost immediately when he received my email requesting a no-cost estimate on my roof as to age and condition for my insurance company. Knowing all of this, he was still very professional. He made an appointment with me, came out & inspected the roof and followed up with the paperwork the same evening. Even though we do not need work done at this time, we will definitely have Isaac & his company at the top of the list when we do need work and will recommend them to friends & neighbors. Anyone with this kind professionalism will undoubtedly do good work.

I got a quote of $5,900 on approx. 24 squares for class 4 impact resistant shingles, which qualify for an insurance discount. In the end, I selected another contractor because I decided upon Certainteed shingles, and Lon Smith was quoting Owens Corning. The estimator was good about providing information when I asked, and I would have selected them had I decided upon the Owens Corning product instead.

Overall, the entire experience was excellent. Especially the estimator/salesman, Isaac Barrera. Isaac took plenty of time to inspect the roof, and then provide us with various options, such as type of attic ventilation, we chose the ridge vent option. He listened to our concerns about previous leaks and roof problems and devised a plan for the work that should solve the problems. The cleanup was excellent and the other personnel that I dealt with were very helpful and did a very high quality job. They showed up on the job when they said they would, and completed the work on time and on budget.
